## What is Guitar Tools?

Tune your strings, practice with a beat and find chord fingerings. GuitarTool brings a tuner, metronome and guitar/ukulele chord libraries together for everyday practice.

Core tools and practice features are free and work offline, with no ads, account or usage analytics. Four basic looks are free; optional appearance themes can be previewed before buying each separately.

FLEXIBLE METRONOME
• 20–500 BPM, TAP tempo, 1–12 beats and editable accents
• Quarter, eighth, triplet and sixteenth-note subdivisions, plus eighth-note Swing
• Practice presets, progressive tempo and custom plans; rear-flash beat cues on compatible iPhones

Rhythm training
• Alternate audible and silent bars, or change tempo in stages by bar count. Customize and save your setup.

REAL-TIME TUNER
• Common tunings for guitar, ukulele, bass, violin and mandolin, plus chromatic mode
• Adjustable A4 reference from 430–446 Hz
• Tap a string to lock it and play its reference tone
• View the input device and a graph of the last 6 seconds of pitch deviation; microphone audio stays on your device and is never recorded or uploaded

GUITAR & UKULELE CHORDS
• 855 chord names for each instrument and 19,244 voicings in total
• Browse and edit fingerings, recognize chords automatically, hear them, and preview, save or share chord cards

THEME GALLERY
• Four basic looks are free to use
• Preview appearance themes before unlocking each separately through the App Store
• Assets are bundled; once ownership is verified, purchased themes work offline without extra downloads
• Purchases and restoration require an internet connection

GuitarTool supports iPhone, iPad, an Apple Watch metronome and interactive Home Screen widgets in multiple sizes. It offers 13 interface languages, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver and Reduce Motion.

Apple Watch and everyday practice
• Swipe between the watch metronome and tuner. Tune guitar, ukulele, bass or chromatically at A4 = 440 Hz, with haptic feedback when in tune
• The watch microphone starts only when you tap Start Tuning. Stop, change pages or leave the app to end tuning. Audio stays on the watch and is never recorded or uploaded
• On iPhone and iPad, the screen stays awake during foreground metronome playback or active tuning. You can allow auto-lock in Personalization
• The large interactive widget lets you select quarter, eighth, triplet or sixteenth notes and Swing, with settings synced to the app

• Added offline Chinese voice counting, with a preview at your current tempo.
• Fixed confirming and canceling BPM input across themes.
• Added an extra-large portrait metronome widget on iOS 27 and later.
• Fixed target tempo syncing in practice presets and progressive tempo progress after interruptions.
• Improved practice and subdivision layouts at larger text sizes, and made the practice timer more reliable.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-10-07

Practice steady timing and gradual tempo changes.

• Alternate audible and silent bars, or change tempo in stages by bar count. Customize and save your setup.
• Improved audio handling when stopping playback, during interruptions and when switching audio devices.
• Improved larger text, right-to-left layouts and training controls.
• Added Jade Resonance, an optional appearance theme you can preview and buy with a separate one-time purchase.

The tuner, metronome, chord library and practice features remain free, with no ads or account required.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-27

The tuner comes to Apple Watch, with smoother tuning and rhythm practice on your phone.

• Apple Watch tuner: tune guitar, ukulele, bass or chromatically. See note names and cent deviations, with haptic feedback when in tune. Tap to start the microphone; stopping, changing pages or leaving the app ends tuning. Audio is processed on the watch, never recorded or uploaded
• Steadier tuning: improved fundamental pitch detection and sustain tracking. The last reading stays visible for 3 seconds after the note fades and updates as soon as you pluck again
• Keep the screen awake: foreground metronome playback and active tuning now keep the screen on by default. Allow auto-lock in Personalization if you prefer
• More control in the large widget: switch between quarter, eighth, triplet and sixteenth notes or Swing, with two-way syncing to the app
• More reliable audio: fixed silent widget starts and audio startup failures; improved changes to settings during playback and audio switching on Apple Watch

Practice features and four basic themes remain free. Preview six complete themes before purchasing them separately. No account or ads.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-25

This update makes tuning more intuitive and keeps purchased themes ready offline. Artwork for six full themes—Morning Mist Studio, Lunar Radio, Paper Ensemble, Pocket Synth, Vinyl Afterhours and Luthier Atlas—is now built into the app. Preview each theme before unlocking it through a separate App Store purchase. Once unlocked, it works offline without an extra download. Four basic looks remain free.

• Clearer tuning: tap a string to lock it and hear its reference tone; adds an in-tune sound and haptic feedback, separate reference volume, input-device details and a graph of the last 6 seconds of pitch deviation
• More reliable detection: improves low-note recognition, cross-octave string locking, reference-tone duration and recovery from audio interruptions
• Smoother practice: fixes practice-plan, Widget and audio-state synchronization, and improves metronome and Apple Watch stability
• More polish: refines 13 languages, accessibility and theme sharing
• Privacy: no longer collects or uploads feature-usage analytics

### 1.0.8 — 2026-09-05

Version 1.0.8 brings a more complete and reliable practice experience:
• New Rear Flash Beat follows all main beats or accents only, offers three intensity levels, and saves with custom practice presets
• A safety reminder covers rapid flashing, battery use, and heat; the flash turns off when playback stops, you leave the screen, or the app enters the background
• Reorganized metronome settings and presets make subdivisions, swing, progressive tempo, beat colors, and keyboard input easier to use
• Improved tuner startup and confirmation-tone handling reduce false detection and clean up reliably when stopped
• More reliable state sync, background audio, and performance across the app, Home Screen widgets, and Apple Watch, with refined 40 mm and 46 mm Watch layouts
• Consistent top backgrounds and safe-area presentation across key screens, plus localization, accessibility, and reliability fixes
Thank you for practicing with GuitarTool.
