## What is Gumption?

An interactive book by Darcy Day Zoells.  Humorous and thought-provoking, GUMPTION is the story of a girl who secretly takes revenge on a bully until she realizes that she, herself, is bullying. Interactive illustrations add to the amusement but also offer opportunities for discussion.

THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE PICTURE BOOK!
Some have said GUMPTION is “a sophisticated picture book,” others simply that it “breaks every rule about picture books.” The illustrations embellish the story in unexpected ways, more conceptual than concrete, challenging the imagination. The interactive elements captivate young readers but have been integrated to progress the story, rather than distract. 

THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE APP!
By tapping on the text, young readers can have the story read to them, and they will love to discover, on their own, all the interactive elements on each page, however, GUMPTION is also an opportunity for reading together. At the bottom of each page, there is a hidden question to stimulate discussion (press on the ‘?’). Some questions are fun, “What animal would you be?” Others are more difficult, “Why didn’t she tell her teacher?” Each is an opportunity to share thoughts and feelings.
