The crisply-pixelated icons, the painstakingly-emulated analog synth music, the hack'n'slash ethos, it's all here! The gameplay and interface are simple, but the world is large and the tactics run deep. Roll stats for three heroes chosen from nine character classes, then explore a world with vast wildernesses, 50+ dungeon levels, 125+ creatures and 200+ unique items, all accompanied by a soundtrack of 20 original songs, scored in 8-bit synth emulators. I’ll get to the end of the game sometimes and go back to play it and my data is gone.. it’s very depressing. And I still come back to Gurk III. Unfortunately there are a couple issues with the very latest iOS I hope the developers update it!! Example: pressing the on screen buttons rapidly sometimes bring up the Writing Tools prompt, as if the whole screen is a big text box. ### 5/5 — Perfect retro RPG *2024-03-26* Simple, engaging game-play in a very large world. Pretty much perfect little retro RPG! Last couple of times I’ve played it won’t keep a save.
