Always trying to push you to spend cash. This is only proven more by the fact that I constantly get pop ups with offers on packs to buy, but whenever I hit the cross to close the pop up, it brings up my Apple Pay to buy it, despite me rejecting the offer!! EVERY TIME! I only play in team games these days. Have lost interest. However, I can rarely open it. Every single time I open it, it will freeze. I read a lot of reviews when I gather information and reviews on this app of people downloading pictures off the Internet and claiming their originals and then other people saying that if you want to play, you got to pay and why would I want to pay for an app with people on their basically cheating yeah no thank you ### 3/5 — App doesn’t work *2026-05-17* The guru shots is very good app. But nowadays the app tends to hang and doesn’t respond and I have to manually close the app and open again. But the worst part is the error doesn’t go even after multiple closure of the app. Someone pls fix this. ### 2/5 — They want you to spend your money. *2026-04-28, version 2.41.9* I was playing this new game for a few years , and then noticed that even the best photos don’t even win a #1 spot for advance ment. Also some of those Gurus III and above use their same old 277 all star rated photo with 58 guru picks in every game.Through research discovered that the photos that have a better chance of winning buy all the coins to gain boosts, swaps, and fills and then also have a bunch of guru friends that make sure to vote on the photo. Beware you get penalized if let your exposure run out or if you vote on consecutive photos to fill your exposure to the max. If you like consecutive photos you get a warning, why can’t that be done? Just what if every photo consecutively is great? Those turbos some kind of joke…in many cases a very horrible photo has more votes than a great photo IMO. It’s surprising how flower photos and regular old beat up winding street to no ware photos wins the duels. Some photos have a bunch of likes but also at the same time not even an all star rating. So many AI photos. An AFK feature would be great for players that sleep.I’ve deleted mine. ### 3/5 — Beautiful pictures *2026-04-15, version 2.41.9* I love this app. It has little competitions over themed content pictures. My biggest issue is that the app continuously freezes when I open it. I have to close the app and reopen several times before it actually works properly. Once it starts working there isn’t a problem, however opening and closing an app several times before it works gets old. I usually just move on to another app. ### 3/5 — Bit of a grind *2026-02-26, version 2.41.7* I’m late to the party and only recently started using Gurushots. I like the concept behind it and I enjoy posting photos into the various competitions, but the mechanism of voting on others people’s photo to keep your exposure meter full, very quickly becomes a chore rather than an enjoyable process. The amount of photos you need to vote on is excessive. And rather than vote on genuine good photography it often feels like you are left with no option but to upvote some pretty mediocre shots. Which makes the whole thing feel like you are being pushed towards buying fills/boosts etc which I definitely will not be doing. ### 1/5 — Nothing much to do with photography *2026-01-26, version 2.41.7* Just a button spamming game, pay to win. Give others a chance who get thrown back ### 1/5 — Endless prompts to pay *2026-01-07, version 2.41.7* They recently updated the app to prompt users to pay for items every time they open the app. Even when I close out of the popup, it still tries to open my Apple Pay to force a payment. Really sus. Like anyone would pay $5 for one key to unlock a Boost for when challenge so you can earn 30 coins. I like the photo sharing aspect but terrible app experience. ### 1/5 — Hmm *2026-01-04, version 2.41.6* Not sure about this. My first attempt my photo was ranked number one until the timer ran out. I had a 3 W streak with 450 coins, I won one more duel, 4 W streak with 390 coins. At this time, terrible photos make their way up the ranks because of the gamified microtransactions of the app. It’s pay to win, essentially and duels are infested by bots. ### 2/5 — Engagement farming at its finest *2025-12-19, version 2.41.6* This is a weird app. You get drawn in with the promise of boosting your profile and driving traffic but in reality it’s a way for people to manipulate a system which results in very average photos being given awards because it forces you to vote for lots of pictures in return for making yours more visible. The result is that smart people spend hours upvoting bad pictures to give their own more chance of winning, but everyone else does the same - so blurry rubbish win more often than not. The way to defeat it? Spend money. Sorry - pointless. The turbos are rigged to produce income for pay to play and the rules are bogus! Same photos up against each other 2 times with different results each time. It is not about quality of photos anymore but a way to gain profit!
