## What is GusHealth?

GusHealth is a focused personal tracker for calories, protein, exercise, and weight. No accounts, no ads, no telemetry — your data lives on your device and (optionally) in your own private iCloud.

WHAT YOU TRACK
• Daily calories and protein toward targets you set
• Weight over time, with a chart and BMI-based healthy-range overlay
• Exercise sessions classified by intensity (Light / Moderate / Vigorous), with calories burned auto-calculated from your weight using the standard ACSM formula
• Custom weekly reset day for rollover and tracking weeks

ADD ENTRIES YOUR WAY
Three ways to log meals and workouts:
• Manual — pick values yourself with portion multipliers
• AI Assisted — describe what you ate or did in plain English; Google Gemini estimates the rest, you confirm
• Favorites — save things you do often (a usual lunch, a regular workout) and one-tap log them

The AI uses your own free Google Gemini API key (one-time setup; ~30 seconds via the in-app walkthrough). Only the description you type goes to Google. Your weight, profile, and meal history never leave the device.

WIDGET
A home-screen widget shows today's calorie and protein progress at a glance, with a "remaining" view that flips when you tap the in-app toggle.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Everything you log stays on this device by default
• Optional iCloud backup uses Apple's private database — Apple can't read it, the developer can't read it
• No third-party SDKs, no analytics, no crash reporters
• Your Gemini API key is stored in the iOS Keychain (this-device-only, never backed up)
• Erase All Data control wipes both local and iCloud copies cleanly

CALCULATIONS YOU CAN TRUST
• Mifflin-St Jeor BMR (modern best-practice over Harris-Benedict)
• 1.2 sedentary multiplier + ACSM MET-based exercise kcal
• 1.6 g/kg default protein (ISSN position-stand recommendation)
• BMI 18.5–24.9 for healthy weight range (WHO)
• All values editable in Settings

DESIGNED FOR DAILY USE
• Swipe-to-edit / swipe-to-delete on every entry
• Tap the date header to jump to any day in the past or future
• Reorder favorites by drag
• Quick-add buttons always visible at the bottom
• Light, Dark, and System theme support, with live switching

GusHealth is built by one person for personal daily use. It's intentionally simple, fast, and respectful of your data.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-06-19

NEW: You can now choose between Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude as the AI provider that powers AI Assist. Pick one in Settings → AI Assistant → Provider. Both API keys can live in Keychain side-by-side so switching is instant.

Why two: Gemini is free for personal use (no payment method needed) and stays the default. Claude is paid (a few dollars goes a long way) but doesn't train on your inputs. A privacy upgrade. Pick whichever fits.

Claude uses Sonnet 4.6 for top-tier reasoning on nuanced food and workout descriptions.

### 1.1 — 2026-05-19

Fixes:

• Widget now resets at your local midnight instead of UTC midnight. Previously the widget could show zeros mid-day in time zones west of UTC (for example, at 5 PM in California the cached totals appeared to "reset" because the UTC day had flipped).

• iOS Settings now lists GusHealth under "Health & Fitness" instead of grouping it by the developer's name.

### 1.0 — 2026-05-18
