Hoping they will fix the issues soon so I can redownload. ### 2/5 — No illustrations *2024-10-11, version 1.9.7* For reading its great but none of the illustrations show up. Please change this so they do. ### 4/5 — Very Easy Access *2023-01-20, version 1.9.3* Mainly the classics are found in this app. So if you were ever curious about their contents then get this app. A lot of other books seem to come from collegiate sources. Don’t expect books that you get from the paying sources like AMZ, BN, etc. Those exist for a reason, smile. ### 4/5 — It was not the best but acceptable *2021-08-25, version 1.7.6* It didint really have any of the book I wanted, which I guess is my problem because I was looking for Alex rider crocodile tears and I can find it anywhere except for Libby and someone is already borrowing it. Don’t know if it my phone or the app. ### 4/5 — Gutenberg Reader *2021-04-11, version 1.7.6* I found this app very useful and I like it quite well. It’s easy to find, store and load books and in most ways easy to use. I have found the app robbery slightly buggy. It’s use is not intuitive at times and use of the app is not well documented. Highly recommended. ### 2/5 — A 4-year-old Could Probably Do It *2021-03-09, version 1.7.6* The age-rating is 4+, so I assume a young child would be able to manage this. But this 75-year-old finds it too clunky to bother with it. Start the auto-scroll, for example, and then try to control it, which we're supposed to be able to do. And the Settings are all about colors and fonts. Seriously!? ### 2/5 — Needs Serious Work *2020-11-09, version 1.6.6* This app is horribly designed. It looks like someone took a website from the early 2000’s and smooshed it into an app. And a simple search that turned up nine results on the website turned up nothing in the app. Deleted in under two minutes. ### 1/5 — Not Dealing with This UI *2020-11-03, version 1.6.6* Opened it and saw how horrific the UI is and deleted immediately. I know it is a free app with free content, but I am not dealing with something so archaic and broken. ### 4/5 — Great app *2020-08-03, version 1.6.2* What a great app. Perfect for holding a collection of classics - and it can even read them to you! Yes, the interface is a little clumsy, but, hey, what do you expect for nothing! Someone is really dedicated to keeping information free and available to all. ### 4/5 — A great app for reading classic books. *2020-02-23, version 1.6.5* This is a great app for reading classic books. The books are in English. The font is large and easy to read, making it friendly for people with vision impairment. There’s such a huge variety of genres to choose from, and the grammar is easy to understand. There’s handy instructions on controlling the speed of scrolling through the e books - which was very impressive. I’ve never seen such a feature on any other reading app before. I liked the slow auto scrolling option - it allows you to read the e book without keeping your finger constantly on your mobile phone, which saves time and energy and is great for people with arthritis. I definitely appreciate the other useful instructions on using the app, such as, “Tap here to save your favourite books.” This app is very easy to use for children and older people. There’s soft colours too, which is easy on the eyes, and no glare, which is great for people with psychosis. The only issue - and this is a minor issue - is that the paragraphs are in huge blocks of text, which can be hard to read for people with dyslexia. Other than that, this is an excellent app. Thank you to Haven Tran for creating it! ### 2/5 — Decent but could be better *2019-06-18, version 1.6.2* You don’t get a summary of the book before you download it. But noticed right away that it doesn't sync between separate devices, ie ipad and iPhone ! ### 1/5 — Not good at finding books *2022-01-03, version 1.8.6* I was trying to find the book wild wings and it did not show up it showed everything except the book I searched I even tried searching the author and it still did not work. The only way to find a book is to sort by title and scroll through page after page. I hoped the Pro version would be better, it’s not. I asked it for "Three Men in a Boat" and it found everything EXCEPT Three Men in a Boat. When I asked it to look for Jerome K. Jerome (who wrote Three Men in a Boat) it didn't give me the option of looking for the author of that name; it just started feeding me books both by and about Mr. Jerome, as well as a few that seemed totally off-topic. Forget about this reader; you don't need it either to download or to read books from Project Gutenberg. There's a better app already out there; it's named "Project Gutenberg." It's free; it's easy to find; and it works seemlessly with the Project Gutenberg website, making it easy to find, download, and read the books you want. ### 1/5 — Painfully ugly and cannot download Gutenberg titles *2021-03-29, version 1.7.6* The UI is unbearably ugly. Words are split at random for example. It looks like a geocities site rendered for the first time in a new resolution. The search button renders as: Searc h Gutenberg is in the name of the app but it can’t download their titles. The internet connection is working for other apps and I gave it more than enough time. Very few things in this world are free and it’s great to be able to be able to read classics without a subscription. Thank you for doing this. ### 5/5 — Practical, uncomplicated, and useful *2023-10-09, version 1.9.3* This is the kind of little app that I love: it is focused on helping with a specific problem, and it provides a surprisingly powerful tool to help me deal with that. If you’re looking for help preparing your taxes or fixing dinner…well, this app isn’t designed for that. If being able to adjust the text*, make notes, and manage a small library of books on your phone is what you’re looking for this app will be just what you need. * About adjusting the text: the teams of VOLUNTEERS who scan books for Project Gutenberg or other sources of FREE books have no idea what size the screen on your device is. There are occasionally issues which they do the best they can to correct when they learn about them. If the font size or style is changed additional problems may occur. While I understand that artifacts from the scanning process or errors caused when the text is adjusted can be frustrating I think we should remember the designer of this app really isn’t responsible for our woes. THIS APP IS WELL WORTH DOWNLOADING. ### 5/5 — Glad I Found It *2023-08-17, version 1.9.3* I was using My Books until my frustration mounted because of duplicate or missing pages. This is a wonderful app with many useful features My Books lacked.
