### 3/5 — GVM, remove the in app ads.

*2024-11-28, version 1.5.9*

In app adds for your own products is bloody disrespectful. People using the app have *already* bought your lights. Remove adds in the app. This is a statement of caring far more about profits than your customers. In app adds also make me want to stop investing your business.

### 3/5 — Finally got the email

*2023-07-12, version 1.5.2*

The email to register takes actual 30 minutes to come through. App works after that

### 4/5 — Works well

*2023-06-03, version 1.5.2*

Iphone XR, app version 1.5.2.53, GVM 800D-RBG

I have the lights for illuminating a human model for figure sculpting.

### 1/5 — Login required, excessive background activity

*2022-12-22, version 1.4.6*

If you spend north of 300 dollars on lights, I shouldn’t be required a year later to give up my personal information just to use their Bluetooth functionality.

### 1/5 — Unable to register app to use

*2022-12-09, version 1.4.6*

Confirmation code times out during registration.

### 1/5 — Very buggy…

*2022-12-05, version 1.4.6*

The app will sometimes not recognize the LED light, even though it is in APP mode. Once it finally does, it works fine… Not able to pair multiple lights for whatever reason. Using the GVM 1500D.

### 1/5 — Ads?

*2022-11-26*

I bought lights for a lot of money and what I get in return are Ads in the app??? Here is your 1 star

### 3/5 — The system has issue in iPad Pro

*2022-10-23, version 1.4.5*

the app does not work in the iPad Pro , I cant change the color of the light. But the lights are so cool

### 1/5 — So you don’t respond.

*2022-10-15, version 1.4.5*

I just bought lights and can’t register to even use them. I have a huge following on YouTube and believe me this review I’m about to do isn’t going to help you at all.
Glad to see you don’t respond good job.

### 1/5 — Intrusive ads, unnecessary account to control LOCAL device

*2022-09-23, version 1.4.5*

Every time you launch the app, you have to sit for several seconds to watch a full screen ad before you can control the lights you already paid for

For an app that claims in their privacy controls to not collect data, it forces you to create an account even though these lights are Bluetooth, not network connected; so the account is just there to collect your data and likely sell better ads targeted at you

Beyond those flaws, the light I have is RGB and White, but the layout is clunky. You can’t power on the light from the color screen. You have to go to white first, turn it on as white, then go to the color screen and pick a color

The lights are cheap, but even for cheap lights it wouldn’t be hard to write a better app.

### 1/5 — Requires login AND internet to function

*2022-08-31, version 1.4.2*

So for a product that has batteries to allow you to use them remotely without power it seems a little ridiculously STUPID and very shortsighted to require connectivity within an app that connects to the devices via Bluetooth. Tell your marketing people to go back into the hole they should stay in and leave marketing out of the functionality of an app.
Seriously, what the dyxj is wrong you people?

### 1/5 — Nicht anlegbarer Account

*2022-07-14*

Ich möchte nur ein Licht steuern und benötige einen Account, warum?
Also gut, eMail eingetragen, aber ich bekomme immer die Meldung senden fehlgeschlagen…
Also keine Kontrolle über den Scheinwerfer mit der App :(

### 1/5 — NO COMMENT

*2022-07-06, version 1.4.2*

The app is probably built by a 7 year old programmer. It should be really easy to use bluetooth, this tech is a century old and it could’ve been hassle free. I can’t even get out of the main page or tab or whatever you call it so just I just gently deleted the app and used manual controls. I really appreciate your effort to provide us with an app at least, but it’s pretty much useless. I will for sure download it again and give it enough stars when it deserves it.

### 1/5 — Email Harvesting

*2022-07-03, version 1.4.2*

Why do I need to provide my email to a Chinese company before I am allowed to use my own purchased equipment?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bluetooth Issues

*2026-06-19, version 1.6.4*

Wouldn’t connect.

### 1/5 — Why change the app?!

*2025-05-15, version 1.6.0*

Used to be able to use app, then they changed it and my lights can’t connect. What if I was in the field? Do they expect me to muck about with apps when there’s a client waiting?

### 1/5 — Non si connette al bluetooth

*2025-01-08*

Mi è capitato varie volte che i dispositivi non riuscissero a trovare la connessione Bluetooth del GVM. FATE QUALCOSA!

### 1/5 — You need an email to use

*2024-07-11, version 1.5.8*

Why is an email code necessary to use a light control?

### 1/5 — Good lights but Poor App

*2024-04-07*

In a classic 3 lights setup the app can control only 1 master and 2 slave all doing the same thing with te same setting, power and color, that is not how a 3 lights setup works in a photoshoot.
AND the in-app message/problems form always say FAILED when you press “send”.
The lights are pretty good… the app not at all!

**Developer response:** Sorry, the control method of the app is limited by the hardware of the device. If you need three lights with different settings, just switch the control.

### 1/5 — You cannot connect more than one light at a time

*2024-02-07, version 1.5.7*

This app his horrible! You cannot connect two lights at once and they do not stay connected.

### 1/5 — Really bad

*2023-07-31, version 1.5.5*

Useless. Connected once, finally, and realize now I just got lucky. Skip it or look for another light if you need app control

### 1/5 — Cant log in

*2023-05-22, version 1.5.2*

Thats the post!!

### 1/5 — Zero Stars

*2023-05-12, version 1.5.1*

Unable to setup account, it went send verification code. Not sure why you need an online account, stupid. Amaran and Sidius are much better.

### 1/5 — Login required and crashes while syncing

*2023-04-06, version 1.4.6*

I have to agree with others. Requiring a login to use the app is annoying. When I try to sync a device, the app spins for a little while and then crashes. It does this repeatedly and I’m unable to use the app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — App Update

*2026-01-20, version 1.6.4*

This app is a great way to control a lighting kit for a variety of projects. I have a three-light setup, and the app functioned very well prior to the recent update. Since the update, I have been unable to reconnect my lights and now have to control them manually.

### 5/5 — Parfait

*2024-03-13*

Nickel.

### 5/5 — The lights are good and easy to control

*2022-12-07, version 1.4.6*

I love the lights, and the app makes it easy to control, I hang them, change their color on my phone, and rename them for easy use.
Many people are complaining about its user login, but I don't think it's a problem, it's very convenient to log in, you only need to get a verification code through your email, some people can't receive the verification code, maybe it's in your spam blocking box.

### 5/5 — very good

*2022-11-28, version 1.4.6*

The connection is very convenient, and it is much easier to use the App to control.

### 5/5 — I bought a Mesh lamp

*2022-11-22, version 1.4.6*

I bought a light for mesh networking. This application gives me more functions to use. It is intuitive and simple to use.

### 5/5 — Just try it out

*2022-10-29, version 1.4.5*

So i ran into a problem getting the verification code sent to my email, so after a few failed attempts i went to the live chat on the website and surprisingly it wasnt a robot it was an actual person (i think lol) and they sent me a verification code right away in the chat after waiting about a minute..the verification code worked and boom im using the app ..i set up 3 lights and they all work thus far hope this helps someone if u run it into that issue

### 5/5 — Simple control interface, developers are very proactive

*2022-05-17, version 1.4.2*

I think the app has improved a lot over the last few months. If there is a feature you think it is missing, you should email the developers to let them know about it. For instance, I own four LED lights and I wanted to be able to give a nickname to each one within the app. This functionality was added within a month after I made the suggestion.

Overall, the app gives me all the functionality that I need to remotely set the light level of my four LED lights from my cellphone. I never had any connectivity issues. For those reasons, I think that the negative reviews this app has received in the past are not representative of the current app version.

### 5/5 — fast, functional on the ST200R

*2022-04-11, version 1.4.0*

much faster connection than aputure app, works

### 5/5 — Haters gonna hate

*2022-03-10, version 1.3.9*

There are so many reviews complaining about registering the app with an email and password. What’s the big deal? That’s just modern life! I registered the app, connected to one of the lights and was able to control every function easily. Unless I hit some sort of gotcha down the road, I am giving this app full marks for simple and effective functionality.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2022-03-02, version 1.3.9*

I purchased one of the more expensive studio lighting setups from GVM. I had read reviews about the app not working so was concerned. I got all 4 studio lights set up quickly and loaded the app. It worked perfectly and has continued to do so. I can control my lighting exactly the way I want to.

There is some features I would like to see further down the line, mainly being able to control each light individually. But it’s been flawless in the 6 months I’ve had the lights
