## What is Gym Date?

Most workout apps remind you. Gym Date commits you.

People don't skip appointments. They skip notifications. A push alert is easy to swipe away. A calendar event is a commitment, skipping it means opening your calendar and deleting it. That tiny friction changes everything.

Gym Date puts your workouts on your calendar as real events with reminders and direct links into the app. Actual appointments. When your workout is on your calendar, it's committed time - not something you're trying to work in. It's what others schedule around. It exists on the calendar the same way a meeting or your kid's soccer game does. Your workout becomes part of your day, not something bolted onto it.

YOUR WORKOUT ADAPTS TO YOUR GYM

Someone's on the cable machine. Now what? Most apps leave you standing there. Gym Date gives you ranked alternatives for every exercise and recalculates the weight for the substitute. One tap: different movement in the same focus area, correct load, zero momentum lost. You don't want to 'make do' or be that gym wanderer landing on the next open machine. Be intentional when you need a plan B...or C.

EXERCISE SPLITS

Runners have had split times for decades. Mile pace, segment trends, heart rate per interval. Lifters get a total session time and a prayer. Until now.

Gym Date tracks every exercise across sessions the way a runner tracks miles: load, reps, duration, and heart rate per movement, over time.

New to the gym? Your body changes before the weights go up. When your heart rate drops on the same exercise at the same weight, that's real progress - even if the dumbbells haven't changed. Gym Date shows you what the mirror can't yet.

Been training for years? Your max hasn't budged but your heart rate at that weight dropped 8 bpm and your sets got faster. You're not plateaued, you're consolidating. Gym Date shows you the adaptation other apps miss.

No other workout app does this.

TWO-TAP LOGGING

Weight and reps pre-filled from your history. Confirm or adjust, tap, next set. Your phone is in your hand for seconds, not minutes.

PROGRESSION WITHOUT SPREADSHEETS

Gym Date tracks what you lift and tells you when to add more. Not percentages. Not formulas. Clear guidance that meets you where you are.

APPLE WATCH

Log sets from your wrist. Heart rate data feeds directly into your Exercise Splits, that's how per-movement biometric tracking works. Everything syncs through Apple Health.

PRIVACY BY DEFAULT

Your data stays on your device.

NO EXCUSES LEFT

You don't need experience, we build your program (we built a remix in too - but still intentional).
You don't need to plan, it's on your calendar.
You don't need to think mid-session, alternatives are handled (and each exercise has one tap instructions too).
You don't need to track anything, progression is automatic.
You don't need to wonder if it's working, Exercise Splits show you.
You don't need to give us your data, it never leaves your phone.

Your gym date is waiting. Don't stand it up.

Gym Date is free to download with a 7-day free trial. Full access requires a subscription: $4.99/month, $49.99/year, or $99.99 lifetime. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple ID settings.

## Frequently asked questions about Gym Date

### How does Gym Date make workouts more committed?

Gym Date schedules your workouts as actual events on your calendar, similar to meetings or appointments. This adds a layer of commitment beyond simple push notifications, making it harder to skip.

### What happens if a machine is taken at the gym?

Gym Date provides ranked alternative exercises for each movement. It can recalculate the weight for the substitute exercise with a single tap, ensuring you maintain focus and momentum.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-10

Exercise Library and Smarter Swaps

This release updates how Gym Date identifies exercises and chooses
replacements when equipment isn't available.

• Correct exercise names. Some exercises were showing up a little weird,
a "Pull-Up" listed as "archer pull up", a machine chest press as "lever
incline chest press". Every exercise now uses its proper Gym Date name.

• No more duplicates. A few movements appeared twice in the library under
different names. Each exercise is now a single entry.

• Swaps that preserve your working weight. If the squat rack is taken, Gym
Date now offers a hack squat or Smith squat before a goblet squat. Heavy
  lifts get heavy alternatives.

• Swaps that train the right muscle. A cable chest fly no longer suggests
rear-delt reverse flies just because both are called "fly".

• A familiar option, always. Every swap list now includes at least one
exercise you'll recognise from a typical gym floor, rather than filling
  up with obscure variations.

• Existing programs fixed automatically. If your saved program showed an
odd exercise name, it corrects itself (your program, history, and logged
  sets are unchanged)

### 1.2.3 — 2026-05-17

minor revision to the in workout interfaces on the watch and phone - now you can toggle/switch from a bodyweight or weighted workout load.

### 1.2.2 — 2026-05-03

Fixes a minor bug where remixing a program and swapping between bodyweight and weighted exercises (or vice versa) would carry the wrong load prompt into the workout. Bodyweight exercises like push-ups now correctly hide the weight input, and weighted swaps surface a weight prompt as expected.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-04-26

Fixes a sync issue where, in low or inconsistent connectivity environments, workouts saved on Apple Watch could occasionally not appear in the iOS app history. Adds automatic recovery from HealthKit on launch, a manual "Sync Workouts from HealthKit" option in Settings, and quality-of-life polish for resuming an interrupted workout (clearer prompt with elapsed time + set count, defensive saves on exercise swap and app backgrounding, automatic discard of stale recovery state after 24h).

### 1.2 — 2026-04-14

Training Block Report. After 12 sessions, Gym Date generates a narrative analyzing your actual lifts, heart rate adaptation, and training cadence. Shareable as an image. Past reports live in the Progress tab
