### 4/5 — App Still Works - Despite No Updates

*2024-01-23*

I’ve had and used this app for years. As of today I’ve logged over 2000 training sessions in this app alone. I originally started with the free version. What amazes me is that this app is so simple that although it appears to have been abandoned by the developers- it still works. My only issue is that the search feature doesn’t work anymore so you are scrolling through your exercises when building or adding new exercises to a program.
It’s been 4 years I think SINCE the last update so I guess it’s safe to say this thing will eventually stop working. At this point, I’m looking for a new app. Thank you for building a great app! It’s been awesome. 👏🏾

### 3/5 — Very crashy lately

*2023-01-23, version 2.27*

Often crashes in the middle of a session. Data is usually saved but is not as reliable as I need it to be.

### 2/5 — Upgrade bummer

*2020-08-06, version 2.27*

I’ve paid for the Gym Hero Pro to track stats and see my weights from last time and the update constantly needs to be restored, and even after restoring only works about 50% of the time. Very frustrating.

### 3/5 — Pro not syncing with Apple health

*2020-06-23, version 2.27*

Was using the free app and decided to go pro. Now it will no longer sync my workouts to my Apple health app and all of my completed workout got wiped out in my Apple health app when I got rid of the free app. Bummer.

### 4/5 — Timer

*2020-01-31*

Great app. Been using it for years. Still wish there was a timer between sets.

### 2/5 — Lost ability to create exercises

*2020-01-02, version 2.27*

I am no longer able to modify an exercise plan or an exercise. Where is documentation for this app?

### 4/5 — Great app but glitches like crazy

*2019-10-23, version 2.27*

Love the app. Had it for over a year now. However, feels like within every use it closes itself for one reason or another. Other than that, it's a helpful and useful app. But maybe that would be irritating enough for you to give up on it all together. You be the judge

### 5/5 — Sweet app

*2019-10-15, version 2.27*

Easy to use, great for tracking exercises, weights, progression

### 4/5 — Better App

*2019-09-27, version 2.27*

Love the app. Only reason for no 5 stars is the lack of ways to track cardio. Wish they could add cardio exercises and track times and speeds on bike etc.

### 2/5 — Good app, questionable support

*2019-09-27, version 2.27*

Pros - easy tracking of exercises and links to other apps/devices (apple watch, Runkeeper and lose it)

Cons - support. I have received error messages when trying to create an account. Without the account I am not able to back up, sync to other devices or access workouts via the website. Sent emails to the support area but have received no replies

**Developer response:** Hey there, where did you send them to? We respond to every email we receive. You can also try the community section in the app 💪

### 2/5 — Pre-fill Exercises doesn't work

*2019-09-13*

Would be a great app if the 'pre-fill exercises' from previous workout actually worked. Tried contacting app support but they didn't bother replying.

### 2/5 — Glitches

*2019-09-02*

Good app but seems to have a lot of bug fixes required, constantly freezes or turns off and is slow.

### 5/5 — Probably the best gym app

*2019-03-25*

I’ve used this app for quite some time now (over 650 workouts now logged) and have found no faults to it. It’s so simple to use adding in your own workouts. In the past I tried other apps before this one and found the interface to be too busy and some only allowed you to use pre made routines.
I’d say this is one of the best gym apps in the App Store but I haven’t checked since using this one and I have no need to change for any reason.

### 3/5 — Does the Job, But...

*2019-02-10, version 2.26*

This app keeps good track of workouts, and it allows you to plan your own workouts. It also has a database of exercises with good descriptions of form with an short animation and text.
I wish these 2 aspects of the app were more well integrated though. There’s a lot of tapping going on to see the descriptions, when I’d rather just be lifting. This is a short term problem though. Once I learn the forms, it will be meeting my needs just fine.

### 2/5 — Bought the 5x5

*2019-01-22, version 2.26*

Bought the 5x5 workout and the “lb” and the “body parts worked” aren’t filled in, so the heat map at the end is empty. When I manually fill in the body part it only gives you one option. For example; deadlift, do I pick back? Or legs? (No option for hammies) I used some arms. But I can only choose one...
Paid app and paid workout should at least come prepopulated.
Other than that, I love the app.

### 3/5 — Needs updating

*2018-12-30, version 2.26*

Missing a lot of traditional exercises in its database and some things are misspelled. Would expect more than this for a paid app.

### 4/5 — Hmmm

*2018-12-29*

I am slightly disappointed... purchased ULTIMATE FAT BURNER PLAN... after deep look I can’t perform most of the legs exercises... gym at home, don’t have machines. Spent another £5 quid 5x5 Strenght program and I am able to perform all exercises! Its shame that I can figure out how to replace exercises from UFBP as its look really good and I’ll be glad to follow that regime. ( by replacing I mean - how to replace Leg extension or leg press with other exercises ) would be nice to get option to replace exercise by clicking option and getting hints with replacements)
I know I am complaining, but please keep in mind I am rookie - can’t go gym, have to do trainings at home, trying to learn and trying to keep going against all life circumstances;)
The app itself is great
Thank you

### 4/5 — Awesome app!

*2018-12-12, version 2.26*

Great app. Easy to use. Would like to see functionality for duplicating routines to make modifications to.

Statistics broken in current version.

### 1/5 — Update needed

*2020-10-18, version 2.27*

This app was a 5 star hands down, but it hasn’t been updated in a while and isn’t working with the new iPhone versions. I can’t even sign into the community anymore.

Please Update!!!!

### 1/5 — They ignore feedback about bugs

*2020-02-04*

I like this app on the whole but there’s a really annoying bug I’ve highlighted on their feedback page, AND emailed about, which they haven’t fixed for over a year.

### 1/5 — Becoming Unusable

*2018-10-31*

Pretty much unusable with the constant crashing since ios12 updates. Problem doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Don’t want to switch to another app as will lose all the data however cannot keep using this app if the crashing problem isn’t solved.

**Developer response:** Hey there, apologies for the crasher troubles! We released an update yesterday that fixes all these crashes!

And we also don’t want you to switch of course - but also we don’t want you to feel trapped. Your data is yours and you can export it out of Gym Hero to Excel at any time! 🙌

Head on over to the “community” section in the app whenever you have questions (or ideas!)

### 1/5 — Crashing issues make this unusable

*2018-10-14, version 2.24*

You really should be ashamed that you continue to have people pay for an app that crashes more than it works.

You cannot input a set within a lift without the app crashing. You have to restart the app, and enter every set. Changing exercises also causes the app to crash.

The developers should be offering refunds to the people who paid for this. Absolutely terrible, I would have rather burned my 3 dollars.

**Developer response:** Hey man, app developers unfortunate can’t issue refunds, as Apple doesn’t include us in the process at all. But in the email receipt from apple you can click “report a problem” and then get your purchase refunded.

Now because it’s too late to burn the three bucks: I just wanted to let you know that with yesterday’s update the crashes are all fixed. The reason it took so long is that this outfit is run by two people in their spare time next to their day jobs and the family. Apologies! 🙌

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing

*2018-10-07*

I open the app and it keeps closing when it try to use it on iOS 12

**Developer response:** EDIT: hidiho, just wanted to let you know that yesterday’s update fixes all the crashers 🤠

Hey Bookey, a big sorry for the crashes, we’re aware of it. In the App there is a notification about it on the start page since a week ago. If you tap it, it will take you to our support page about the crash (with access to the beta tester group).

### 1/5 — Don’t get it doesn’t work

*2018-09-25, version 2.24*

I paid for this app created an account but can’t login. Says I have to confirm my account, but I haven’t gotten an email to confirm. It’s been 2 hours and still haven’t gotten email to confirm.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2018-08-08*

This review of the app. Just to let you know it doesn’t work

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing

*2018-05-21, version 2.23*

This app crashes a few times every day during my half hour workout

### 1/5 — Can’t track cardio workout

*2018-03-26, version 2.22*

Disappointed. This app does not track cardio workout like running, bicycle, or rowing. Pretty much any workout that needs time to track is useless with this app.

### 1/5 — RIP Off

*2018-01-21*

Purchased pro in the hope of doing some of the plans, but everything is an extra in app purchase - not worth the money.

The interface is very clunky not good.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Super easy to use!

*2023-11-25*

Very easy to setup and use. Totally customizable. Takes almost no time at the gym and keeps me on track and motivated. Best of all, all of your records are exportable so you can examine progress, trends, totals. The Pro version is a steal for all the features. I recommend Gym Hero Pro to everyone!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2023-01-27, version 2.27*

Love the app! Been using it for a few years now.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2022-08-08*

Been using it for 5 years+ with no issues and love it. Going in 800+ workouts with it. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Best gym app there out

*2022-05-26*

Could probably do with a UI refresh as it looks a bit dated but works flawlessly , hasn’t had an update for 3 years

### 5/5 — Only fitness tracking app I’ll ever use!

*2021-11-02, version 2.27*

I’ve been logging my workouts ever since I started working out constantly at age 17. I’m 41 now so I was used to old school hand writing in a workout journal. I found this is January 2014 and have never once had a complaint! Hopefully I have plenty of more years continuing to do so!

### 5/5 — This app is pure tracking

*2021-10-18, version 2.27*

The devs have done an excellent job creating an app that keeps track of MY routines. While they offer many different in-app purchases of their routines, the focus of this app is in generating your own tracking. So many different lifts. Integrates into Apple health perfectly. I’ve been using this app since 2015 and it’s only improved. For the Devs: Is there any plan to update/modernize the UI?

### 5/5 — Been using it for years

*2020-11-16, version 2.27*

I I’ve been using this app for years and have not found anything else that compares.

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2020-05-12, version 2.27*

Easy to use and navigate! Also keeps track over the years!!!

### 5/5 — One of the best fitness apps I’ve used

*2020-03-06, version 2.27*

Have nothing but great things to say about this app. Everything is simple and well laid out. From the rest timer to the workout notes I thoroughly enjoy using this app to track my routines. If there was one thing I could change it would be, being able to save a specific routine and when I next run that routine have the “previous workout” reference that one specific workout. Because as of right now it doesn’t reference a specific routine but the exercise itself. I’d like to be able to have separate Heavy and Light routines that use the same exercises but since the “last time” feature references the exercise itself, on my light days I get the number for my heavy days and vice versa.

### 5/5 — Beginner

*2020-01-12, version 2.27*

I started my health journey with nothing but a idea and this app. This app has followed me through since the begging. After 10 months of non stop use I love the app. It has a spot for not to track my runs and all theexcursize I enter they have. It also remembers your work outs so you don’t have to re-type them! I highly recommend this app the any level of excursive enthusiast
