## What is Gym Log+?

Gym Log+ is the fast, private workout tracker — logging lifting sets in seconds since 2013, now rebuilt from the ground up for modern iPhone and Apple Watch.

I built Gym Log+ in 2013 because I wanted a faster way to log my workouts. I rebuilt it in 2026 for the same reason.

ALREADY A GYM LOG+ USER?
Welcome back. Your data comes with you: on first launch, the app imports every workout, routine, custom exercise, body log, and progress photo you ever recorded. Nothing is deleted from the old data. And if you bought the app or its Pro upgrade — even years ago — your purchase is honored: you get Pro, for life, at no charge.

SWITCHING FROM ANOTHER APP?
Bring your history along. Gym Log+ imports other workout apps' CSV exports in about a minute, so your whole training record lives in one place.

LOG FAST
The whole app is built around one idea: nothing should slow down a set.
• Your previous workout's sets sit beside today's — see what to beat, tap Log, done
• Autofill suggests your next set; rest timers can start themselves
• Per-exercise rest timers, with a separate timer for your last set
• Supersets, warm-up sets, failure sets, drop sets, and optional RPE
• Cardio too: time, distance, and pace
• Warm-up calculator: a plate-rounded ramp up to today's working weight
• Plate calculator: exactly what to load on each side of the bar

APPLE WATCH — TRULY STANDALONE
Leave your phone in the locker. The watch app logs complete workouts on its own — routines, sets, rest timers — and records heart rate and Activity ring credit. Everything syncs up afterward.

ROUTINES, FOLDERS, PROGRAMS
• Build routines with target sets, reps, and rep ranges
• Organize routines into folders — or convert a folder into a program
• Programs know what's next: finish today's workout and the next day is queued up
• Plan catalog: 15 ready-made plans from beginner to advanced, free
• Share any routine or program as a file a friend can open in Gym Log+

CHARTS THAT ANSWER QUESTIONS
• A progress chart on every exercise: top set, estimated 1RM, volume, and reps — drag to scrub any day
• Stats dashboard: weekly training frequency, muscle-group volume this week vs last, and all your personal records — the last 3 months free, all-time with Pro
• Body-weight trend chart

BODY TRACKING
Log body weight free, with a trend chart, a goal line, and optional two-way Apple Health sync. Pro adds body measurements and progress photos with notes. Finished workouts can be saved to Apple Health too.

MULTIPLE PROFILES (PRO)
Share one device with a partner or family, or log clients' workouts in person as a trainer — each profile keeps its own routines, history, and body logs.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. Not "sign up later" — there is no account, no server, and no ads. Your data lives on your devices and syncs through your own private iCloud. And it stays yours: export a full backup file or a plain CSV spreadsheet any time, free.

FREE AND PRO
Free, forever: full workout logging, a catalog of 500+ exercises — strength, cardio, stretching, and yoga — plus your own custom exercises, the Apple Watch app, exercise progress charts, body-weight logging, the plan catalog, rest timers, the warm-up and plate calculators, the stats dashboard for the last 3 months, monthly recap cards to share, import, and export. The free tier includes up to 4 routines and 7 custom exercises.

Pro unlocks unlimited routines and custom exercises, body measurements and progress photos, multiple profiles, progression suggestions on the logging screen, side-by-side workout comparison, and the all-time stats dashboard with a year-in-review card: $4.99/month, $29.99/year with a 7-day free trial, or $79.99 once — lifetime, no subscription. Bought Gym Log+ before? Pro is already yours.

### 5/5 — Great Workout Tracker

*2026-08-31, version 3.14.0*

I’ve been using Gym Log+ for 6 years, and it does exactly what it promises. Fast, reliable, and simple to use, with a useful export feature and a great overview of what I’ve done over time. Great support as well. No annoying ads and no requirement to connect to social media. Just a solid app that does its job well.

### 5/5 — Great app but…

*2026-08-30*

I love this app. Been using it for soo long. The developers updated the entire app which is nice but there is no ability to preset different sets. Before there was the ability to set straight sets and pyramid sets. I like the update but the previous setup was more visibly appealing and straightforward. Please bring back the ability to preset pyramid sets and also bring back the plate calculator. Being able to see the actual bar image and tap the weights made it easier to calculate plates. Currently you have too many clicks. Clicking into plates then selecting the plates then hitting confirm just to be taking to the main screen to hit log. (Wayyyy to many clicks) lost version was you tapped the plates and logged..simple

### 5/5 — Over 10 years of using this app

*2026-08-28, version 3.13.0*

This is by far the best app I have ever used. Always functional. Well thought out and developer always happy to take on feedback and implement. What more could anyone ask. Highly recommend this app.

### 1/5 — Ruined a great app with a terrible update

*2026-08-28, version 3.12.0*

I used the app for about 7 years, it was simple and easy to use. The update makes it hard work, complicated and wouldn’t recommend anyone to use it. If you change your workout every month e.g from dumbbell to barbell and you want a simple chest workout to log, don’t bother getting this awkward app. Over 1000 workouts saved and now have to find another one with the update not making it user friendly

### 1/5 — Bad UI Update

*2026-08-28, version 3.12.0*

This has been go to for years , simple easy to use , but this recent update butcher the whole thing. It so confusing , doesn’t work correctly. Went from using it daily to never touching it again. Smh, please give us the option to go back to the old UI

### 5/5 — New version

*2026-08-27, version 3.12.0*

I have been using this app for years and was initially concerned with the recent overhaul. Well I have to say that the developer has worked hard at fine tuning the app and I’m feeling up to speed on the new great new features.

### 5/5 — Great app, even better support

*2026-08-27, version 3.12.0*

This app is easy to use, has all the features I need, and the developer responds promptly to suggestions. Cannot recommend this app highly enough.

### 5/5 — New update is Fantastic🔥

*2026-08-26, version 3.12.0*

I’ve been using this app for the last 5 years. And I thought that developer gave up on this app as there wasn’t any major new updates. But I was wrong. The new update is amazing to save the least!

### 5/5 — Good Update

*2026-08-26, version 3.11.0*

Okay I was wrong, this update is actually very good!

### 1/5 — What happened

*2026-08-25, version 3.10.0*

This app’s functionality changed for the worse. It is now clunky and unhelpful. Bring back the old version or at least an option to switch to the old UI.

### 3.20.0 — 2026-09-08

NEW IN 3.20
• Program Builder. Programs → Program Builder: pick a goal, how many
days a week you train, and the equipment you actually own. It starts
from the closest built-in plan, swaps out anything you can't do for
the nearest movement in the same muscle group, and hands you a
program you can add and start like any other. It tells you which
plan it began from and what it changed, so nothing about it is a
black box — and it is worked out on your phone, from the catalog,
  like everything else here
• Share a routine or program as a link. Every routine's long-press
menu and every program's toolbar now offer Share Link… — a
gymlogplus.com link that IS the plan. Nothing is uploaded and there
is still no account; the plan travels inside the link itself. If
your friend has Gym Log+, the link opens straight into "Add this
plan?"; if they don't, the page shows them the whole thing and
offers the App Store. Export Routine… is still there beside it for
a file to AirDrop or keep
• Your training weeks, at a glance. A consistency card at the bottom
of the Workout tab: twelve weeks of training days as a grid, your
weekly streak beside it, and the days and sessions that add up to.
Collapsible to just the streak line, and free — a streak is a reason
to come back, not something to sell
• Choose the 1RM formula you trust. Settings → Estimated 1RM: Epley
(the default, and what every estimate here has meant since 3.0),
Brzycki (what Gym Log used before 3.0), Lombardi or O'Conner. Charts,
records, the PR trophy and the training-percentages table all follow
your choice, and it syncs to your other devices. About the Formulas,
beside the picker, runs one set through all four and says which to
pick. The percentages table now names the formula its rep column
  inverts, too
• +30 seconds, from the lock screen. The rest timer's Live Activity
now names the exercise you're resting from, and carries a +30 s
button you can tap without unlocking. Tap it after the rest has
ended and it starts a fresh thirty seconds
• Filter an exercise's history. The set list on any exercise page has
a Filter button: weight from and to in your own unit, reps from and
to, any side left blank. It shows every matching set you have logged,
  newest first

### 3.19.0 — 2026-09-06

NEW IN 3.19
• Health workouts can add themselves to your log. Settings → Apple
Health → Add Health Workouts on Open: when you open the app, workouts
your watch or another app recorded — a class, a ride, a run — are
added on their own, with their real time, length, energy and heart
rate. It's off unless you turn it on, and turning it on shows you
everything waiting first, all ticked: untick the kinds you don't want
(walks, say) and those stay on the Import from Health list to add by
hand. Every automatic addition is announced with an Undo, a Last
Check line under the switch says what happened, and on a phone with
more than one profile it adds to the profile that turned it on
• Change how a built-in exercise is tracked. Every exercise page now
has Change Tracking on its Manage menu, so a pose the library times
can be logged as reps instead — or the other way round — and your
choice sticks: library updates no longer put it back. Use Library
Default hands it back whenever you want. If an exercise you made was
folded into a library entry of the same name, the way you were
logging it comes along, and your choice follows you to the Watch and
  into a backup

FIXED
• The button says "Log", not "LOG" — and "Update Set" when you're
editing one. It was the only action in the app spelled in capitals,
and "UPDATE" is the state four of you wrote in about: it now names
what it does. Same on the Watch
• Editing an old set no longer loses values the exercise doesn't track
any more. A set of 10 reps logged before you switched that exercise
to time opens showing its reps, and adding a note keeps them — before,
it opened as an empty time field and saving cleared the reps

### 3.18.0 — 2026-09-05

NEW IN 3.18
• Your month, as a card. Stats → Totals now offers a recap for the
month — workouts, sets, volume, time, your records, your
most-trained exercise, your best streak, and the muscles you worked
on the body figure. In the first week of a new month, last month's
card is there too. Free, for any month Stats shows. Share it as a
picture, or as text: the totals, the comparison with last month,
every record with its day, and each exercise with its sessions, sets
and best. The same card across a whole year is Pro, and from 26
December the app will tell you yours is ready
• Next time, for a whole routine. A routine's Stats page now lists what
the logging screen will suggest for each exercise the next time you
  run it — "You hit 3 × 12 at 100 lb — try 105" — read from that
routine's own sessions, with the sessions it read one tap away. When
nothing needs to change, it says so
• A Trend line on every exercise page. The long view under Next time:
Progressing, Holding, or Stalled, with the evidence — "no top-set or
1RM record in 9 weeks, 7 sessions". It stays quiet for an exercise
with under eight sessions, or one you haven't trained in two months,
because a break is not a stall. Both of these are Pro, like the
suggestion on the logging screen; free shows that a reading exists
• Balance, over months. A new section under Muscle volume on Stats:
push against pull, or upper against lower, week by week as one line
against an even mark, with the latest week in numbers and a plain
reading — "Push has led pull for 6 weeks". Free sees three months,
Pro sees six. It plays as an Audio Graph with VoiceOver, like every
  other chart here
• Coming back after time off. Open the app after eight weeks or more
away and a card on the Workout tab says how long it's been, that
everything you logged is still here, and opens the guide to where
things live now. Once per break, and never on a first launch
• Room to make more exercises. The free tier now includes 7 custom
exercises, up from 3 — and as before, the cap applies only when you
create a new one, imported exercises never count, and anything you
  already made stays

FIXED
• A workout you could not finish. If the review sheet closed on its own
the moment you tapped Review & Finish — reported on iOS 26.4 — there
was no way through: the workout waited for the next day's reminder to
be completed. The finish page now offers Finish Workout and Keep
Going right on the page, and finishing there shows your summary
  afterwards
• Timer slots said "Off" when they meant "Not set". In Settings →
Timers & Reminders, a timer with no duration yet now reads "Not set",
and the footer says how to add one — up to three, plus one for your
last set. "Off" read as "there is no third timer" to at least one
person, who trained without the sound because of it
• Clear a note in one tap. Any field holding a note now shows a small x
while there's text in it — tap it and the field empties. The logging
screen's note most of all, where a note carries forward from your
last set and the only way to be rid of one was to hold backspace
through it. Also on workout, set, weight, measurement, photo, routine
  and program notes

### 3.17.0 — 2026-09-04

NEW IN 3.17
• Archive a profile instead of deleting it. Settings → Profile has an
Archive row above Delete. An archived profile disappears from the
profile list and the switcher but keeps every workout, body log and
routine it ever recorded, and comes back any time from the new
Archived Profiles page, where each shows how many workouts it logged
and when the last was. For a trainer whose client list only grows, or
a family member who stopped training, this is the option that was
missing: until now the only way to tidy the list was to delete a
  person's whole history
• Your notes travel with a shared workout now. Sharing a workout as
text used to leave your set notes behind. Each note sits on its own
set's line ("8 × 135 lb — RIR 2"), so what you send matches what you
logged. The picture you post still carries no notes, as it never did
• Share one workout as a CSV. A new item beside Share as Text: the same
spreadsheet columns as the full export in Settings, notes included —
no more exporting your whole history to get at one session
• The mid-workout exercise list shows when you last did each exercise.
Open the checklist during a workout and every row reads "2 of 3 sets
  · Last: Aug 27, 2026". For a routine that holds alternatives —
dumbbell curls one day, cables the next — that is the "which one
haven't I done lately" answer in one look, instead of a visit to each
  exercise's page

FIXED
• Tapping Finish Workout could lose the finish. The finish waits for
the summary to close before it runs, and that wait was held by the
logging screen itself — so if the screen reloaded in that half-second
the request went with it and the workout stayed running. That is the
event behind "it doesn't save, it just jumps back into my workout".
The request is held by the app now: a reloaded screen completes it on
arrival, and a backstop completes it if no screen does
• Signed out of iCloud, the app said your data was gone. Your workouts
live in your iCloud account, so signing out removes them from the
device — they are safe, and they come back when you sign in. But
every screen showed the empty state written for a brand-new user, so
it read as though the app had deleted everything. History, Stats, the
Workout tab, your own exercises and the Body tab now name the real
reason, say how many workouts this device had, and offer to check
again. Sign back in and they say "Downloading from iCloud" while your
  history comes down
• Finishing a workout is quicker to the summary. The shareable workout
card was drawn in full, at 3×, muscles and all, every time the
summary opened — whether or not you were going to share it. It is
drawn when you tap Share now. Opening a past workout got the same
• The hold timer could ring up to two seconds late. A 30-second stretch
or plank sounded its tone anywhere from a few milliseconds to nearly
two seconds after the ring filled, depending on how the system chose
to wake it. It rings on time now, and the rest timer got the same
  guarantee
• Finishing your last set on the watch now takes the phone to Finish
too. With auto-advance on, a set logged on the wrist that completed
the workout left the phone sitting on the last exercise, where the
same set logged on the phone slid to the finish page
• The watch complication no longer cuts a long program name short as
its title. On the rectangular face, "Day 2 of 3" is the title, the
day's name is the big line, and the program's name sits beneath it in
  full width

Thank you — nearly every line above started as one of your emails.
Something look off? Settings → Support → Diagnostics, then email
support@gymlogplus.com — you'll reach the developer.

### 3.16.0 — 2026-09-02

NEW IN 3.16
• See your week on a body. The Stats screen's muscle-volume section now
leads with a front-and-back figure whose muscles fill in as you train
them — colour deepens with this week's sets, so an even week looks
even and a muscle you have been skipping stays grey. The bars
underneath keep the exact numbers and the this-week-vs-last
comparison, and VoiceOver reads the figure muscle by muscle. Share a
workout and the card carries the same figure beside its set counts
• Every exercise shows its muscles on the body. Exercise pages get a
small front-and-back figure — the main muscle at full colour, "also
works" muscles lighter. Building or editing one of your own, it
updates live as you change the group and the Also Works list, so you
can see what a logged set will count toward
• Gym Log+ now knows which plates you actually have. Settings →
Equipment → Plates, or Edit Plates inside the calculator: drop the
denominations your gym doesn't have, add the ones it does, say how
many pairs you own, give any of them a colour. The plate calculator
and the warm-up ramp both plan from that list, so they stop
suggesting a 35 when there isn't one in the building. Kilo plates
start with the competition colours; the Bar row sets the bar the
whole app assumes, so a home gym with a 35 lb bar says so once; and
Try It shows how a weight loads before you're standing at the rack.
Your starting list is the standard set, so nothing changes until you
  edit it
• Merge a duplicate exercise into the one it should have been. Made
your own "Farmer's Walk" and later found Farmer's Carry? Open your
exercise → Manage → Merge Into… and pick the other one. Every logged
set and routine slot moves across, the old name stays searchable as
another name for it, and the duplicate goes. The confirmation says
exactly how many sets and slots will move, because a merge can't be
undone. New Exercise heads it off too: type a name the app already
knows as another name for something and it says which exercise that
is, and offers to use it
• Workout reminders, on the days you train. Opt in when you install a
plan, or any time in Settings → Workout Reminders, by picking your
training days and a time. The reminder names your program's next day
("Leg Day today"), stays quiet on a day you've already trained, and
never fires unless you asked for it

FIXED
• One workout could land in Apple Health twice. If you finished a
workout your Apple Watch was measuring, the phone's catch-up pass
could save its own copy before the watch's record arrived — two
entries in Fitness for one session. The phone waits for the watch
now, and cleans up any double it already made
• Imported distances stayed wrong on your OWN cardio exercises. The
repair that undoes the old app's mile/metre mixup only ever looked at
built-in exercises, so runs and rides logged under an exercise you
made yourself stayed wrong however many times you updated. They're
repaired now, each set from what your original app recorded for it.
For distances no repair can reach, Fix Distance Units on any
exercise's ⋯ menu relabels a whole exercise at once — grouped by the
unit they're stored under, so a mixed set is visible first. The
numbers never move, only the unit
• Save Image works for shared workout cards. The share sheet offers
saving the card straight to your photo library — it used to offer
only the Files app. The app still never reads your library

Thank you — nearly every line above started as one of your emails.
Something look off? Settings → Support → Diagnostics, then email
