## What is Gym Log+?

Gym Log+ is the fast, private workout tracker — logging lifting sets in seconds since 2013, now rebuilt from the ground up for modern iPhone and Apple Watch.

I built Gym Log+ in 2013 because I wanted a faster way to log my workouts. I rebuilt it in 2026 for the same reason.

ALREADY A GYM LOG+ USER?
Welcome back. Your data comes with you: on first launch, the app imports every workout, routine, custom exercise, body log, and progress photo you ever recorded. Nothing is deleted from the old data. And if you bought the app or its Pro upgrade — even years ago — your purchase is honored: you get Pro, for life, at no charge.

SWITCHING FROM ANOTHER APP?
Bring your history along. Gym Log+ imports other workout apps' CSV exports in about a minute, so your whole training record lives in one place.

LOG FAST
The whole app is built around one idea: nothing should slow down a set.
• Your previous workout's sets sit beside today's — see what to beat, tap LOG, done
• Autofill suggests your next set; rest timers can start themselves
• Per-exercise rest timers, with a separate timer for your last set
• Supersets, warm-up sets, failure sets, drop sets, and optional RPE
• Cardio too: time, distance, and pace
• Warm-up calculator: a plate-rounded ramp up to today's working weight
• Plate calculator: exactly what to load on each side of the bar

APPLE WATCH — TRULY STANDALONE
Leave your phone in the locker. The watch app logs complete workouts on its own — routines, sets, rest timers — and records heart rate and Activity ring credit. Everything syncs up afterward.

ROUTINES, FOLDERS, PROGRAMS
• Build routines with target sets, reps, and rep ranges
• Organize routines into folders — or convert a folder into a program
• Programs know what's next: finish today's workout and the next day is queued up
• Plan catalog: 15 ready-made plans from beginner to advanced, free
• Share any routine or program as a file a friend can open in Gym Log+

CHARTS THAT ANSWER QUESTIONS
• A progress chart on every exercise: top set, estimated 1RM, volume, and reps — drag to scrub any day
• Stats dashboard: weekly training frequency, muscle-group volume this week vs last, and all your personal records — the last 3 months free, all-time with Pro
• Body-weight trend chart

BODY TRACKING
Log body weight free, with a trend chart, a goal line, and optional two-way Apple Health sync. Pro adds body measurements and progress photos with notes. Finished workouts can be saved to Apple Health too.

MULTIPLE PROFILES (PRO)
Share one device with a partner or family, or log clients' workouts in person as a trainer — each profile keeps its own routines, history, and body logs.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. Not "sign up later" — there is no account, no server, and no ads. Your data lives on your devices and syncs through your own private iCloud. And it stays yours: export a full backup file or a plain CSV spreadsheet any time, free.

FREE AND PRO
Free, forever: full workout logging, a catalog of 500+ exercises — strength, cardio, stretching, and yoga — plus your own custom exercises, the Apple Watch app, exercise progress charts, body-weight logging, the plan catalog, rest timers, the warm-up and plate calculators, the stats dashboard for the last 3 months, import, and export. The free tier includes up to 4 routines and 3 custom exercises.

Pro unlocks unlimited routines and custom exercises, body measurements and progress photos, multiple profiles, and the all-time stats dashboard: $4.99/month, $29.99/year with a 7-day free trial, or $79.99 once — lifetime, no subscription. Bought Gym Log+ before? Pro is already yours.

### 5/5 — Great app but…

*2026-08-30*

I love this app. Been using it for soo long. The developers updated the entire app which is nice but there is no ability to preset different sets. Before there was the ability to set straight sets and pyramid sets. I like the update but the previous setup was more visibly appealing and straightforward. Please bring back the ability to preset pyramid sets and also bring back the plate calculator. Being able to see the actual bar image and tap the weights made it easier to calculate plates. Currently you have too many clicks. Clicking into plates then selecting the plates then hitting confirm just to be taking to the main screen to hit log. (Wayyyy to many clicks) lost version was you tapped the plates and logged..simple

### 1/5 — What happened

*2026-08-25, version 3.10.0*

This app’s functionality changed for the worse. It is now clunky and unhelpful. Bring back the old version or at least an option to switch to the old UI.

### 5/5 — Update

*2026-08-24*

10 + years with this app. At first, like many, I wasn’t too happy. But, after importing all my previous workouts and evaluating the app since the update, I am very pleased with the new features, addition of motion for many of the exercise previews, being able to change workout parameters, minutes, reps only, etc. Also, the Apple Watch integration is much better. I have tried a few other gym apps and this one is still my app of choice.

**Developer response:** Thank you, and thank you for giving it a second look. The first few weeks after the rebuild were rough, and a lot of long-time users understandably didn't stick around long enough to see it improve.

Ten years is a long time to trust an app, and I don't take it lightly that you're still here.
The exercise animations and improved Apple Watch integration you mentioned were both things I wanted in the original and never managed, so happy to hear they are working well. -Wade

### 1/5 — Great app, but

*2026-08-21, version 3.7.0*

App worked just perfect for many years that I’ve been using it. Then developers try to fix something that wasn’t broken and it broke. I absolutely hate the new “better” version as it does all the wrong things, somehow there are 2 of me now, can’t copy my workout, only edit or create new one and constant app freeze. Stop “fixing” and un-fix back to previous version.
** update, app is even worse now. It glitches, its slow, it forgets the sound of the end of a set ….it was good while it was untouched. I will never again sponsor anything from this developer.

### 1/5 — Old Version Better

*2026-08-20*

Gone through several updates since the format was changed, still do not like this app as much as I did in the earlier version. They took away a couple of the things I like most about this app like being able to see rest between sets in previous workouts and the current workout. And then they added so many features that are more obnoxious than they are useful. For example: I have two leg days in my current program and I do leg extensions both workouts, except that in one routine I do 2 sets and the other I do 4. But now when I’m on my 4 set day it shows what I did on my 2 set day and as soon as I finish my second set it skips to the next exercise, so I have to keep scrolling back. And the feature that automatically moves you to the next exercise itself is also terrible, I like to compare how I did with previous workouts and it moves to the next one before I get a second to look at the numbers. I find myself scrolling back often, when in the old version I could just scroll over when I was ready. Also, the superset button is in the worst spot. At least 3 times I’ve inadvertently hit it and then when I’m waiting for the bell to ring for my next set I end up taking longer rest periods than I wanted because the bell doesn’t ring during supersets. Editing your sets is not very intuitive, there used to just be a big edit button if you typed the wrong weight or reps, it took me two weeks to realize you have to hold the set down to make changes. The little arrow just takes you to stats. Why would I think that holding it down would open the edit option? Overall, change is still more bad than good

**Developer response:** Most of what you're missing is switched off rather than removed, and I'm sorry that isn't obvious ( that's on me not you). Settings → Workout: turn on Show Set Times for rest between sets. Turn Auto-Advance off so it stops moving on before you've compared. And turn on Match History to Routine in the settings so only show your 2-set day's numbers. Editing a set is a long press, which you're right isn't discoverable. On the superset button: mis-tapping it silently stops your rest bell, which is a genuine flaw and now on my list. Try those three switches as they change that screen into most of what you're describing. And if you'd rather tell me directly what's still wrong: support@gymlogplus.com. -Wade

### 5/5 — Best True Lift Tracker

*2026-08-19, version 3.6.0*

I’ll be 49 in a few days and I’ve been using this app for years- it’s been amazing. It’s easy to track and log sets and exercises, but it’s just as easy to completely change your routines and workouts.
Their complete app update made everything better without compromising the functionality of the previous iteration. Best lifting tracker on the Market.

### 1/5 — Bring back the old version

*2026-08-18, version 3.5.0*

A lot of the great old
Features have not been replicated. Clunky to use and slow latency at time. Hopefully will be improved in future updates.

### 3/5 — Some more updating needed

*2026-08-18, version 3.5.0*

This is my favourite app, but the recent overhaul and facelift still needs some tweaks:-

“Finish Workout” - arbitrary, easy to miss, too much click-through to get there. Just let us finish and be done.

“Workout in Progress” - needlessly restrictive, especially when swapping between workouts on ad hoc days. Old system worked fine enough in this regard.

### 4/5 — Update isn’t great

*2026-08-16*

The old app had a lot of useful features like 1 rep max , max weight done, max reps done etc and a star and sound would occur whenever you accomplished a record…all of that has been removed with the update I’m not sure who thought of this update but clearly they don’t work out I have had the original app for over 7 years such a disappointment…….thanks for the response updated my review still prefer for it to be u def the exercise so everything is seen at once instead of having to go into each particular exercise therefore lack of 5 star review

**Developer response:** Good news: all of that is still in the app, and you're already running the version with it. 1RM, max weight and max reps: tap an exercise's name during a workout (or from the Exercises tab) and its page shows your estimated 1RM, heaviest set, and rep maxes (plus the training percentages). The record celebration: a trophy appears on the set the moment you beat a record, with its own distinct buzz, and your records are called out again on the finish screen. The one thing that genuinely changed is the sound--it's a haptic now rather than an audible chime. But your request has been added to my roadmap for future updates. If any of the above isn't showing up for you, email support@gymlogplus.com and I'll sort it for you. -Wade

### 4/5 — Love it

*2026-08-16, version 3.4.0*

I’ve been using this app for years, love it for simplicity and price. And loads of functionality for a gym user who just wants to plan and track their workouts. Don’t need lots of motivational claptrap and fancy graphics.

My only complaint is that the description and the graphics for the exercise don’t always tally. This would be an easy improvement for the developer to do progressively, just clean up the database of exercises. Do that and this gets 5 stars

The upgrade is good, importing history is easy - just check if you have multiple profiles since the upgrade doesn’t select by default your most recent and so you may think you’ve lost all those routines you developed and the associated history. You haven’t, just select the latest profile. And if you are new to the App, is irrelevant !!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.15.0 — 2026-08-31

NEW IN 3.15
• Your own exercises don't all look alike any more. An exercise with no
demonstration clip — anything you created, and a handful of built-ins
  — used to draw the same grey figure as every other one. Now it gets a
tile with its initials, tinted by the part of the body it works, so
you can pick yours out of a list at a glance
• Write your own instructions on a custom exercise. Every built-in
exercise has a How-to on its page; the ones you make now can too.
Setup notes, your own cues, the rack height you always forget — it
shows above your history, and it comes along in backups and shared
  plans
• Tidy up your equipment list. Settings → Equipment → Types shows every
equipment name your exercises use, with how many use it. Tap to
rename one (renaming onto a name that already exists merges them), or
swipe to remove it from all of them — so a typo you made while adding
your own equipment is no longer permanent
• Delete an exercise you don't want. One you made that no workout,
routine or program has used can now be deleted outright from its
Manage menu — no archiving, no trip to Settings. Once something HAS
used it, archiving stays the only option, because deleting would
strip the exercise off sets you've already logged
• Archived exercises are findable again. Search for one and the
Exercises tab offers to show it rather than coming up empty, and the
Sort & Filter menu says how many you have archived. Name a new
exercise the same as an archived one and the app offers to bring that
one back, instead of asking you to pick a name the list was hiding
• Fixing a set you already logged is no longer a secret. Touch and hold
any of today's sets to edit it, change its type, or delete it — that
has always worked, but nothing said so, and two people told us they
found it by accident. Gym Log+ points it out once now, and never
  again after you've used it

FIXED
• Large text sizes were hiding your numbers. At the accessibility text
sizes, History was losing the very things you opened it for — the
calendar showed no dates past the 9th, the workout cards cut off
their duration and volume, and the month name drew over the arrows
beside it. The calendar shrinks its dates to fit now, the cards stack
their stats, and the month header gives its title its own line. The
plan line on the logging screen wraps instead of being cut off, and
so do notes on the Body tab
• Editing a custom exercise's equipment or muscles didn't stick.
Choosing equipment and tapping Back put the row straight back to what
it was, so Save had nothing new to write — and the same thing quietly
undid a name or group you'd changed first. Editing a routine could
lose a name the same way. Both hold on to your edits now
• Your unsaved edits survive a stray swipe. Editing sheets — a custom
  exercise, a band, a logged set, a measurement, a workout, a routine,
a photo's note — used to discard everything you had entered if you
swiped them away instead of tapping Save, with no warning. They hold
on to your work now, and Cancel asks first when there's something to
  lose
• "Also add this to the routine?" could be swallowed. Add an exercise
mid-workout to a workout you started from a routine and the app
offers to add it to that routine for next time. The offer was raised
while the picker was still closing, so it could be dropped on the way
  — the exercise was added, the offer just never appeared

### 3.14.0 — 2026-08-29

NEW IN 3.14
• Log a loaded carry as what it is. A new "Weight & Duration" tracking
type records weight and time on the same set — a farmer's carry, a
suitcase carry, a weighted plank or hang — instead of asking you to
count steps as reps. Set it on any exercise you create, and the log
screen shows a time field, a weight field and the stopwatch; your
watch gets both dials, and a routine can prescribe "3 × 0:40 at
70 lb". Farmer's Carry and Dumbbell Overhead Carry switch over
automatically, and Dumbbell Suitcase Carry, Plate Hollow Hold and
Landmine Hollow Hold join the catalog. Everything you have already
logged is untouched and still reads the way it always did
• Carries set records too. Your heaviest carry joins the Records table,
badges on the finish summary and the share card, and reaches your
watch's trophy list — judged by load first with time as the
tie-break, so 80 lb for 30 seconds beats 70 lb for a minute. Weighted
holds and unweighted ones stay on separate tracks: putting a plate on
your plank sets a carry record, and your longest plain plank is still
  its own
• Log Past Workout. A new entry on the Workout tab records something
you did without the app — an F45 class, a spin ride, a hike — with
just a name, when it started and how long it ran. It counts toward
your history and streaks like any workout, recent names come back as
one-tap chips, and "Save and Add Exercises" drops you into the
workout if you want to fill in what you did
• Import a workout from Apple Health. Workout tab → Import from Health
shows what Health has that your log doesn't, from the last 30 days —
a class, a ride, a run, whatever your watch or another app recorded —
and adds the ones you tick. Each arrives with its real start time,
length, energy and heart rate, counts toward your history and
streaks, and can be opened to fill in what you actually did. Anything
already in your log is filtered out, and an imported workout is never
  written back to Health
• Routines can prescribe a time and distance for cardio. A run or a row
  now carries a target — "2 × 20:00 · 3 mi" — instead of the rep and
weight fields that never fit it. Set it in the routine editor or
mid-workout from the plan line, and it prefills the logging fields on
a machine you haven't used before. The plan shows on your watch too
• Rename a workout. One you logged without a routine — a past workout
you typed in, or an empty workout you just started lifting in — now
has a Name row on its History page

FIXED
• Number keypads with no way out. Four screens raised a keypad or a
note field and gave you nothing to dismiss it with — the band editor,
a progress photo's note, a program's details, and the routine editor
with its per-exercise targets. All four have a Done above the
keyboard now, like the rest of the app

### 3.13.0 — 2026-08-28

NEW IN 3.13
• Resistance bands are first-class now. Add the bands you own in
Settings → Equipment → Bands, order them lightest to heaviest, then
pick one while you log — the picker appears on any exercise whose
equipment includes Resistance Band, including your own. Gym Log+
compares band sets by where the band sits in YOUR list, because a
band has no weight: it pulls harder the further you stretch it, and
the colours mean different things from one brand to the next. If a
band makes a movement easier instead of harder — one under your knees
for pull-ups — say so and it counts that way round. Banded sets earn
records like any other, and bands are on the watch too, with last
  session's band already set
• A hold timer for stretches and planks. On any timed exercise, tap the
timer beside the duration field to count down your hold — 30 seconds
by default, hold the button to pick another length. The bell rings
when it ends and the duration fills in, ready to log; it never logs
for you. It works with the screen locked, and with your watch on your
wrist the two count the same hold — start or cancel on either and the
other follows. Routines can prescribe one, so a stretch carries
"3 × 0:30" the way a lift carries sets and reps
• 121 new exercises, in three new groups. 62 stretches — hamstring,
quad, hip, glute, calf, chest, shoulder, back and neck — each with
step-by-step instructions. 32 conditioning drills: Mountain Climbers,
High Knees, Bear Crawl and the interval work. And 27 yoga poses,
Pigeon among them. Static stretches log as timed holds, dynamic
drills log reps, and you can build a routine from any of them like
any other exercise. On iPhone and Apple Watch
• A stretching session lands in Apple Health as stretching. A workout
made entirely of stretches saves as Flexibility — or Yoga, when it is
all yoga — instead of Traditional Strength Training, on both iPhone
and watch. Mix in any lifting and it stays a strength workout
• Your own exercises can say what equipment they use, so a custom
movement picks up the band picker, the right filters and the right
  defaults

FIXED
• Your watch complication keeps up on its own — change your program or
finish a workout on your iPhone and the face follows, without opening
  the watch app first
• Building a routine no longer kicks you back to the top of the list
  after every exercise you add
• Pull-ups are bodyweight and cables are cables. The pull-up family and
the cable machines were filed under the wrong equipment, so they
turned up under the wrong filters and asked for the wrong things
• Rest timers ring on screen too. A rest that ended while you were
still looking at the app could pass with only a buzz

Thank you — nearly every line above started as one of your emails.

### 3.12.0 — 2026-08-26

NEW IN 3.12
• Complications on your watch face. Gym Log+ can sit on the face you
look at most, in all four accessory shapes — corner, circular,
rectangular and inline — and in the Smart Stack. While a rest timer
runs it counts down right there on the face, so you can see the rest
without raising the app. The rest of the time it shows today's
program day ("Push Day · Day 2 of 3"), or your last workout and this
week's count when no program is running. Tap it to open the watch app
  — mid-workout, straight into logging — and it refreshes on its own,
so a change made on your iPhone reaches your wrist without opening
  the watch app first
• Pause a workout. Pause and Resume now sit in the workout menu next to
Finish. The clock freezes, paused time never counts toward the
workout's duration, a running rest timer stops, and logging a set
picks the workout right back up. In History, the Session Timeline
shades the paused stretches so a pause doesn't read as one very long
  rest
• Every set type straight from the LOG button. Warm-up, drop,
rest-pause and the to-failure flag are now actions on the button
itself, not only behind a long press
• Find an exercise or a routine from anywhere. Both turn up in iPhone
search — pull down from the Home Screen, type "Bench Press", tap the
result and land on that exercise's progress page. Your own custom
exercises and alternate names are searchable too; your sets, weights
and dates stay out of the system index. Siri and Shortcuts also
recognise more of the phrases people actually use for starting a
  workout
• Routine Stats grew up: a 1M/3M/1Y/All range picker, a Volume or Reps
choice, and a Plot by Date or Session number toggle — the session
axis spaces every session evenly, so "am I beating last time?" reads
at a glance even on an irregular schedule
• Move exercises without dragging — long-press one in the routine
editor for Move Up, Move Down, Move to Top or Move to Bottom. And
"My Exercises Only" in the Sort & Filter menu finds your own entries
  among the 441 built-ins

ACCESSIBILITY
• A thorough VoiceOver pass, most of it on screens that were close to
unusable. A workout in your history arrived as eight separate items
of bare numbers; it is now one item that reads its own summary. Your
records came three items at a time; each is now one that names
itself. The comparison table's numbers had nothing saying which
workout or which measure they belonged to, your watch's finish
summary read every line twice, and heart rate arrived as a bare
"142". Five icon-only buttons had no name, and seven rows responded
to taps on only part of what you could see — the History calendar
most of all, where you had to hit the date's digits
• Hear your progress charts. Every trend chart — an exercise's
progress, a routine's stats, your body weight and measurements — can
be played as sound with VoiceOver's Audio Graph, so a rising
estimated 1RM is something you can hear. Focus one and VoiceOver
reads what it holds: how many sessions, what they span, the low and
high, and how far it moved

FIXED
• Active Energy shows up when the workout does. After a workout your
watch measured, the calorie figure could take up to half an hour to
reach your history even though Health and your rings had it straight
away. It is there when you go to look at what you just did
• Finish a workout on your iPhone with the watch app open and your
wrist now lands on the same finish summary it shows when you finish
from the watch, instead of dropping back to the start screen

Thank you — nearly every line above started as one of your emails.

### 3.11.0 — 2026-08-25

NEW IN 3.11
• Progress photos got the viewer they deserved. Pinch or double-tap to
zoom in and pan around, and tap once to hide the bar and caption for
a clean full-screen look — the same gesture as the Photos app.
Swiping between photos glides from the very first swipe now, instead
of stalling halfway while the next one decodes, and long galleries
browse lighter: the viewer no longer holds every photo you have
looked at at full camera resolution
• Photos file on the day they were taken. Add an older shot from your
camera roll and it lands on its capture date rather than today, so a
photo from six weeks ago sits six weeks back in your timeline. And if
a photo is ever on the wrong day — including ones added before this
update — the viewer's new calendar button moves it: open the photo,
  pick the date, done
• Select several exercises at once, and build a routine out of them.
The Exercises tab has a Select button: tick as many as you like —
searching, filtering and sorting in between, your ticks stay put —
then Add to Routine, which offers your routines grouped by folder, or
