## What is Gym Scribe?

Stop planning your workouts. Just walk in and lift.

Gym Scribe plans what you train today, or runs the routine you already follow. It tracks every set as you go and tells you exactly what weight to beat next time. It's the gym notebook you already trust, with the thinking done for you.

NEVER WONDER WHAT TO TRAIN
Your training runs as a cycle, not a calendar. Finish a workout, and the app moves on; miss a week, and nothing breaks. Every exercise gets its turn before anything repeats, no favorites, no neglected lifts, no spreadsheet to maintain. One look shows the whole cycle, with each session ticked off as you go.

BRING YOUR OWN ROUTINE
Already have a plan? Enter your workouts in the order you do them, each with its sets and reps, or a rep range like 8–12, or start from Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower, Full body, or a body-part split. Leave a spot for Gym Scribe to fill, and change it all any time from your cycle, down to dragging workouts into a new order. Share your routine with a friend as a link, keep the ones you've tried to come back to, or import a workout from a screenshot.

LOGGING THAT KEEPS UP WITH YOU
• Sets arrive pre-filled from last time; most are a single tap
• Your next target, worked out from your own lifting, not a formula
• Warm-ups marked so they never pollute your numbers
• Say how a set felt: Easy, Good, Hard, All-out
• Done with an exercise? Fold it away and keep scrolling to what's next
• Choose how many sets to finish each exercise
• Supersets: two exercises back to back, resting only after the round
• Timed holds for planks and wall sits: a stopwatch, or a countdown that buzzes at zero
• A rest time for each exercise, if heavy lifts need longer
• Tap an exercise to see every set from last time, and how to do it: the muscles, three cues, and the common mistake
• Typed a wrong weight? Fix any past workout, and your records follow
• The plate calculator shows exactly what to load
• Machine taken? Swap it for today, or trade it with a later workout
• Short on time? Skip an exercise, and it's owed to a later workout

A REST TIMER YOU CAN'T MISS
The countdown lives in the Dynamic Island and on your Lock Screen, so your phone can go back in your pocket. With the app open, it buzzes at zero; with the app away, a notification tells you it's time to lift again.

WATCH YOURSELF GET STRONGER
• Progress charts for every exercise, with estimated one-rep max
• Personal records stamped the moment you set them, and shared as an image in a tap
• A trophy case, streaks, and totals that add up over years
• Body weight tracked alongside the lifting
• A look back at last month, and a review of every cycle you finish
• Need to back off? Run a lighter cycle for a week

BUILT FOR IPHONE, NOT BOLTED ON
• Pick your notebook's colour, with a Home Screen icon to match
• Workouts save to Apple Health, if you want them there
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show what's next
• Follows your text size, bold text and dark mode
• Export everything to a spreadsheet whenever you like

YOUR TRAINING IS NOBODY ELSE'S BUSINESS
No account. No ads. No tracking. No servers. Everything you log stays on your iPhone, the App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected, and we'd rather keep it that way.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.1 — 2026-11-05

New in 1.4.1:
• Timed holds: Plank is timed now. Tap ▶ beside a set for a 3-2-1, then hold. Each hold exercise uses a stopwatch or a countdown that buzzes at zero and keeps counting so you log the hold you actually did. Your target is your best recent hold plus 5 seconds.
• Four new holds to try, switched off until you want them: Wall Sit, Side Plank, Hollow Hold and Dead Hang, each with How to.
• Pop-up messages are frosted glass, coloured by what happened.
• Fixed: rebuilding the cycle mid-workout could drop exercises you had already logged that day. Also: field outlines no longer overlap nearby lines, the large title leaves room for the rest timer, and the warm-up tip can be hidden.

### 1.4 — 2026-11-03

New in 1.4:
• Pick your notebook's colour: eight to choose from, each with a Home Screen icon to match, or any colour you like (Settings > Preferences > Notebook).
• How to: the muscles, three cues, and the common mistake for every built-in exercise. Tap its name on Today. Exercises you made can have your own steps.
• The whole cycle at a glance: every exercise in it, ticked off as you go.
• Share an exercise or your routine as a link or a picture, and keep the routines you've tried in Saved routines.
• Import from a screenshot or a photo: Exercises > Import turns a workout into exercises. It's read on your iPhone.
• Skip an exercise for today: press and hold Skip at the bottom of its Swap sheet, and it's owed to a later workout.
• Last month at the top of History for the first week of a new one, and a review of each cycle as you finish it, written in a few sentences where Apple Intelligence is on.
• Smoother all round: sheets that spring up, large titles, a colour for each group, and haptics.
• Fixed: the page jumping while you typed a set with a rest running, the set you're typing hiding behind the keyboard, and Export saving two files.

### 1.3 — 2026-10-28

New in 1.3:
• Supersets: pick a partner on an exercise’s Edit sheet, or link two exercises in your routine. No rest between them; then rest after the round.
• A rest time for each exercise: turn on “Different rest for each exercise” in Settings > Workout.
• Tap an exercise’s name to see every set from last time.
• Fix a past workout: open it in History and tap Edit. Your records are worked out again.
• Starter routines: Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower, Full body and a body-part split, ready to change.
• Share a new personal record as an image, ready for Instagram.
• Highlight the exercise you’re on (Settings > Preferences > Accessibility), and text that grows with your iPhone’s Text Size up to twice the size.
• Smaller things: Add set puts the cursor in the weight box, a set after a warm-up counts as a working set, and Edit exercise opens without the keyboard.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-21

New in 1.2:
• Done for today: once an exercise has its sets, fold it to one line so there’s less to scroll past. It ends that exercise’s rest timer too, and a simple tap opens it again.
• Choose how many sets finish each exercise on its Edit sheet. Exercises without a set goal now finish at 5 sets, up from 4.
• The rest timer says “Done?” instead of “Skip” once you complete all of the exercise’s sets.
• Reorder your routine: in Your cycle, tap Change order and drag workouts into place.
• A new floating tab bar that tucks itself away as you scroll.
• Fixed: a new “Time & distance” exercise now keeps its type, intensity, and bar weight.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-10-13

Fixes the app sometimes staying zoomed in after switching apps. Updates now show a short "What's new" so you don't miss new features, starting with 1.1's own routines.
