### 4/5 — Great fitness tracking app

*2026-08-20, version 7.1.1*

Love the extensive work out collection built in and the ability to track body measurements but does not sync across devices unless you export and import on another device and then back again. Would like to be able to pick up any device and do a workout

### 4/5 — All of the updates are worthless for me

*2026-07-06, version 7.0.45*

All of the exercises and features being added are cool I guess, but I can add my own exercises if I want to, so I guess I’d rather have more practical features like more workout notification options and for the workout calories to be remotely close to accurate.

### 4/5 — Non intuitive UI

*2026-07-03, version 7.0.43*

I mean if you are going to make a workout app with over 400 exercises it would probably be a good idea to make the humanoid model the revolving face of the whole app, ae I open the app to a model of a person, I tap the part of the body I want to improve and it shows every workout that falls into that category and from there I can chose to easily add it to a workout plan. The ui is unfortunately very poorly designed but I don’t think this is changing anytime soon because devs tend to be stubborn to innovation now. Props however to having a one time payment option which I can gladly say I’m an owner of.

### 5/5 — Had the app a few years

*2026-06-25, version 7.0.42*

Only thing I would change is the way you select the weight. Most weights I have move up in increments of five. The app has it in 1 lbs when I switch between high rep and low weight you have to scroll for a minute. Having the option to move in increments of five would be nice.
Some times I take a break because of injuries or what not it would be cool if you had the option to have the weight for each set automatically reduce after being idle with the more time away the more the weight lowers. I have noticed after taking a month off that I have to spend time adjusting weights.

### 5/5 — Beste App für eigene Workout-Erstellung

*2026-06-23*

### 5/5 — Top App, genau meine Anforderungen

*2026-06-14*

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-05-23, version 7.0.37*

This app is the best one I’ve tried. It’s clean and easy to use. Never had any glitches or issues. No ads. No distracting social component. Great database and ability to add custom exercises. All around great app for tracking your training with no added BS.

### 5/5 — Great, easy

*2026-05-02, version 7.0.34*

Love this app. Easy to log in gym. Easy to add exercises and workouts

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2026-05-01, version 7.0.35*

No gross social feature, up there with HealthFit and WorkOutDoors for the running of GOAT stats based work out apps. CLEAN AESTHETIC!!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-04-26, version 7.0.30*

Recommend to all. Easy set up and use. The log and history tabs are a great way to track and see your progress. The customer support team is very responsive and friendly.
The only issue I have is the auto backup to the icloud, all the data after a group session workout does not transfer, i.e. 5 exercises in a group session and all but the info for the last exercise uploaded or everything uploaded but the last set in that last exercise. I’ve had 5 exercises and only 2 uploaded. The fix to get everything uploaded is for me to manually upload the workout manually on my phone so I can keep my iPad current.

*2026-04-24*

### 5/5 — Dependable

*2026-04-23, version 7.0.34*

This app is great, very reliable/dependable, and well worth the price. I've been using GymBook since 2015, and it's given me everything I've ever needed in a logger.

### 5/5 — Best app ever

### 5/5 — Clean & simple yet powerful.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

**Developer response:**

### 1/5 — Great app but has serious issues

*2026-06-18, version 7.0.42*

The app itself is perfect for making and tracking custom workouts. The main problem is the watch app since it never starts up straight away. I always have to force quit the watch app at least once every day. I'm lucky if it's just once. Other times it will eventually load but it will crash when selecting the first exercise in a workout so I have to force quit a few times. Finally whenever there's an app update the watch app refuses to connect. It can often take 20- 30 minutes trying things like watch or iPhone reboots, closing the apps etc. Right now it won't connect after trying all these things several times.

I've paid for the full package and this app is so unreliable I'm considering going elsewhere so please please please just spend some time on fixing these issues. I should not have to reinstall the app every time you release an update

### 1/5 — Gives false activity readings

*2025-08-02, version 7.0.0*

Thanks to this app running in the background, my apple health dats is way off. It thinks i haves been working out for hours causing false calorie and exercise minute readings. Also no way to undo an accidental skipped set on the watch.

### 1/5 — Pay to play - SURPRISE -

*2025-03-27, version 6.2.46*

I don’t mind paying for something like this and I’m sure this app is good, however, I don’t like being surprised into paying for something. Let people know upfront in order to use the app they will need to pay. And the price is a little high at $8 - $10. No thank you.

### 1/5 — Still No weight plate calculator

*2025-03-04, version 6.2.45*

After years of useless updates, still no weight plate calculator. I’m done waiting. I’ve switched back to another app I’ve been using prior to this and that app has significantly improved over the years.

### 1/5 — CONFUSED “OWNERSHIP”- HACKED🐭🌚🚴‍♀️!

*2024-04-29, version 6.2.15*

Used 😫- Prior information uploaded on original display…. !!!

*2024-01-26*

**Developer response:** Hi шулян - We understand that many users prefer free apps, however, the development and maintenance of a high-quality app requires significant time, effort, and resources. In the free version, GymBook offers for example the possibility to add an unlimited number of exercises, to log an unlimited number of workouts, a timer, line graphs, doughnut charts, heat maps, Health app integration, or Apple Watch support. This provides a way to get started and see the benefits of GymBook. All without ads and with a 100% privacy.

Although for many users, the free app is enough, for those who want more, GymBook offers packages and features as one-time purchases, without the need for subscriptions. These purchases give you access to those packages or features for life, and help us continue to improve and provide the best possible experience for all of our users.

We appreciate your understanding and support. If you have further questions, please feel free to reach out.

### 1/5 — A literal “pink tax”

*2023-02-26, version 6.1.56*

The default red colour is free but to make it look less masculine I have to pay $10. There is a literal “pink tax” (feminist theory that things for women cost more) on making the app look more feminine, but the default masculine vibe is free. Should be more inclusive to women and give us one cute colour for free.

*2021-04-22*

### 1/5 — Limited Exercises to log

*2021-03-06*

Limited exercise for logging and not user free

**Developer response:** Hi - We are working hard on improving the App and we added many new exercises, and will add new exercises in the future.

You can also add your own exercises (as many as you want, even in the free version). To do so, go to the 'Exercises' screen and tap on 'Edit' (the icon on the top right) and then on '+'.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great Tracking App

*2026-09-16, version 7.1.5*

Ive used this for years. It is great. You can easily track your progress. Its easy to see your progress in terms of reps and weights.

### 5/5 — Best logging app

*2026-09-13, version 7.1.4*

By far the most intuitive and customizable workout planner and logging app without any bugs

### 5/5 — Couldn’t ask for a better workout tracker

*2026-08-02, version 7.1.0*

This app is amazing, first and foremost because it offers an inexpensive payment to unlock everything and get rid of ads. It seems like every single simple app now requires a subscription to make it usable and not bombarded with ads. Aside from that factor, the app is perfect because of all the trending capabilities it has, allowing me to see my progress over time according to various metrics. Everything is intuitive, and as an added bonus I can change the app icon color. One of my favorite and most used apps of all time, hands down.

### 5/5 — Simple and Effective - Great Value

*2026-08-02, version 7.1.0*

I’ve explored a lot of workout apps and digital log books. This one stands out as being amongst the best of them and five stars plus for being such a great value for so many features. Thank You 🤗

PS: don’t be mislead by my “simple and effective” title. GymBook has a great interface and requires relatively little effort to learn, but it is also a very powerful app and highly customizable - which is definitely one of its best features.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-01, version 7.0.45*

Great app.

### 5/5 — Best workout planner

*2026-07-29, version 7.0.45*

No subscription only 17 bucks once and thats it. Totally worth it. All sorts of customization options and you can even create your own exercise if its missing.

### 5/5 — Absolute rockstar!

*2026-07-09, version 7.0.43*

This app, for the crazy low one time fee, is amazing. It tracks everything I do, allows me to change my routine mid-workout, build my own exercise and customize the UI! Using this app I have been able to focus my routine and lose 40 lbs while adding muscle mass! I tell everyone I see, I would wear GymBook gear and be sponsored everyday I go to the gym, which is 6 days a week.
