It’s extremely clunky, and often doesn’t work. There are regularly a que of customers standing at the turnstiles trying to make it work which really detracts from my experience at what is otherwise a really good gym. To make it better, my preference would be that GYMBOX develop an NFC-enable Apple Wallet pass, which would mean I don’t have to engage with this terrible app at all. Failing that bin the current app and start again, or just give us old fashioned membership cards etc. ### 1/5 — Can’t log in! *2022-08-03, version 5.105* I am trying to reset my password. How is it possible that there is no password reset button on the login screen in the app or online from a computer?? Also when loading the app on a new phone, the Accounts page indicates you haven’t logged in to an account but doesn’t give you a link to do so!! Note to others in my predicament -you have to navigate to the book classes function to login. I would have preferred to submit this directly to GYMBOX as a fix request rather than send a negative review but your “app support” button in the App Store doesn’t actually link to a support page, and there is no contact page online either. These are basic functionalities that you’re missing. ### 1/5 — The worst Gym App *2022-03-19, version 5.80.2* I’m surprised that GymBox has not got a better app, I recently joined and I was shocked to see the app… even other gyms that are cheaper and less premium have better apps. ### 1/5 — Not happy with customer service ! *2022-03-16, version 5.69.1* Thought the classes, teacher and the staff (reception) are excellent, the online customer service is awful! The strike system is unfair, sometimes their equipment are not working and WE ARE being penalised because their system didn’t register. The online customer is rude and not helpful, the amount of subscription is quite high so we deserve at least an excellent, respectful and efficient customer service. Which is not the case! If you want to keep your clients improve your attitude! ### 1/5 — Bug *2022-03-14, version 5.69.1* Keep getting a bug that won’t allow me to cancel classes so have to call the gym every time ### 1/5 — Not intuitive at all *2022-01-07, version 5.47* Navigating this app is near impossible, if it wasn’t for the big “check in” button I don’t think I’d be able to enter the gym. Congrats on taking a step back and making your experience worse ### 1/5 — GYMBOX app *2021-10-30, version 5.45.1* Had no issues the first two weeks of using this app and managed to book in for most classes I wanted to go to. However I’ve now randomly been logged out of my account, can’t log back in without there being a ‘service error’ and all I’ve been told is there’s a glitch with the app. The classes available were the main selling point and not being able to book anything or know when this app glitch will be fixed is such a let down ### 1/5 — Poor functionality *2021-09-21, version 5.36* Recent bugs include a banner telling you you’re banned from booking, when you’re not and can still book. App crashing everything you click on the “you’re banned” banner to try and see why you received strikes. Still no push notifications letting you know you’ve come off the waitlist. Really poor functionality, completely at odds with the brand. You would think if you have booked on the app you would get a push notification to tell you when you come off the waitlist...but nope only an email. Getting back to the page before, finding the different sections / clubs and generally navigating the app is not intuitive in the slightest. Feels like a website forced into an app format. Disappointing that if I favourite more than 1 location I then get a notification for each location about exactly the same blog post. Not knowing where you are on the waitlist is frustrating. Unable to search or filter on classes or dates or see across studios. It’s just a long list of every single class. Considering the names of the classes (and often the descriptions as well) don’t tell you what the class is or what to expect this makes booking a nightmare. ### 1/5 — Awful app missing features that cheaper rivals have *2021-08-30, version 5.11* Puregym and gymgroup apps have useful features that let you track how full your gym is currently, and records when you went gym and how long your workouts were as well as other useful things. Gymbox has barely a booking system that doesn’t work properly and that’s it. I expected a more feature rich app when paying so much for a membership. ### 1/5 — Completely pointless *2021-08-16, version 5.11* Worked fine for about 5 days after joining and I wondered what all the bad reviews were about. Now, out of the blue, it’s gone round the bend. Every time I try to book a class it gives me an error message and crashes. Given the price of the GYMBOX membership, you’d think they’d be able to create a basic app to enable you to book classes. It’s really not much to ask for and every other gym seems to have got it right, even the budget ones. ### 1/5 — No notifications for waitlist *2021-07-25, version 5.11* They have a waitlist system on the app, if you get put on to the class after being on the waitlist you do not get a notification through the app. You then get a strike for missing a class, 3 strikes you get a ban. I’ve been a member for 5 days and have had 2 strikes because it’s a surprise if you’ve been added. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Poor Functionality and Bugs *2025-08-03, version 108.29* The app often shows that you successfully booked a class but then removes your booking. Too many people try to book classes at 10 am so the app crashes. Impossible to register to the popular classes like pilates. Gymbox should think of a solution so that every member can get to enjoy classes. ### 1/5 — App doesn’t work *2024-10-02, version 107.92* I have not been able to use the app for months on an iPhone 12. ### 1/5 — Crashing *2024-09-29, version 107.92* Everytime I open this app it crashes and says unexpected error. The quality of the gym, the facilities, how clean and nice the changing rooms and showers were as no one wants a dirty shower or changing room. The boxing rings. However gymbox only lets me save classes to Apple calendar, which I’ve deleted from my phone.
