## What is Habibi Stay?

Habibi Stay helps trusted family and community networks coordinate safer stays through people they already know.

Guests can search for cities where they may have a direct host or a vouched introduction through someone in their circle. Hosts stay in control of whether to accept a request, and host details are only shared after a stay is confirmed.

Habibi Stay is built for diaspora families, where hosting a relative or a friend of a relative is ordinary. Anyone can join by verifying a phone number.

Habibi Stay is designed around privacy, consent, and gratitude rather than public listings or anonymous transactions.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7 — 2026-10-21

Possible hosts now show on Home. When someone you're connected with may know a person who could host in a city, that city appears on your Home and in Search, with a button to ask them about an introduction.

Home's count of who could host or introduce you now includes the connections who may know someone.

Your own possible hosts appear on your Home too, so you can see the cities you could help with at a glance.

If you let connections ask about a possible host before this update, that is paused, because it now shows on their Home as well as in Search. Turn it on again from Circle whenever you're ready.

The city picker no longer shows the "could not reach the full list" line while you're still typing.

At larger text sizes, buttons wrap their label instead of cutting it off.

### 1.6 — 2026-10-11

Home now helps you grow your circle. A connection request waiting for you shows on Home, and a tap takes you to Circle to accept it.

When something can't load, you now get a Try again button on Home, Circle, Requests, Search and your profile, instead of a screen that stays offline.

If Circle can't refresh, your list stays in place and a short notice explains what happened.

If an accept or decline in Requests doesn't go through, the request now says so.

The city picker now tells you when it is showing the cities saved on your phone because the full list couldn't be reached.

At larger text sizes, the tab bar stays on one row (press and hold a tab to see its name), and Search's city cards no longer overlap.

Cards on Home now respond when you press them.

### 1.5 — 2026-09-26

Signing up now asks whether you have a room to offer. Say yes and your room is ready from the start, with no dates to choose. Pause it or set dates any time from Hosting on Home.

Possible hosts now appear on Home for everyone.

Searching a city now shows one list, grouped by the connection who links you to each host or possible host.

Tapping a connection request notification now opens Circle, where you can accept it.

A number you type yourself is now checked to see if that person is already on Habibi Stay, without needing access to your contacts.

If an action in Circle fails, the message now appears where it happened.

The numbers behind your saved contacts are no longer included in iCloud or computer backups.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-20

Possible hosts. Note someone you know who might host, with just a name and a city. They are never contacted and never shown to anyone. If you choose, your connections searching that city can see that you may know someone, and ask you. You decide whether to help.

When a connection asks you something that needs your answer, you now get a notification.

Search your connections from the top of Circle, and see results as you type.

Opening an invitation link now shows who is expecting you.

Selecting more than 50 contacts at once now says so, instead of a message about your circle not refreshing.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-14

Syncing a large address book works again. One number the app could not read used to stop the whole sync; now it is skipped and the rest go through.

Adding someone is rebuilt. Search finds the person first, then asks what you want to do with them on one screen. Checking whether a number is on Habibi Stay is clearer, a wrong number is easy to remove, and if you invite someone straight away the message opens in your own Messages app for you to send or not.

Someone already in your circle is no longer offered "Ask to connect".

Things you can tap now say what tapping will do, and the two actions on the review screen look like the buttons they are.

A new app icon: the same paper plane, simpler, on a warm cream.
