## What is Habit Control?

Habit Control is a Bluetooth app designed to help users create structured access rules for food, snacks, alcohol, phones, medicine, sweets, electronic devices, and other everyday temptations. Instead of relying only on willpower, the app works with a smart lock system to create clear physical boundaries and consistent routines.
The app allows users to set recurring no-access schedules in advance. You can define exactly when access is restricted - for example during nighttime hours, study sessions, work hours, fasting periods, weekends, or after bedtime. Once programmed, schedules run automatically every day without needing to reset individual timers manually. Habit Control supports flexible use cases for both individuals and families. Parents can create screen-time schedules, snack-access rules, or structured parental control routines for children, while couples, roommates, and family members can follow shared access schedules together(IMPORTANT: The lock does not open automatically when the timer or schedule window ends - unlocking is done via smartphone). The app also supports different permission levels. Owner and Admin users can manage schedules, timers, and settings, while Guest users can only lock or unlock. Guests cannot create schedules or timers, change settings, or unlock early. For users seeking stricter self-discipline, the app includes a Self-Control Mode. When enabled, schedules and timers cannot be overridden early even by owner and admins. This mode is designed to help support routines related to mindful eating, reducing distractions, limiting late-night snacking, limiting phone use, managing gaming time, or creating healthier daily habits.
The app supports both recurring schedules and individual countdown timers. Timers can be set from minutes up to 366 days depending on the user's needs. Users can also manually lock or unlock when schedules allow access.
Habit Control works with iPhone and Android smartphones via Bluetooth connection. Unlocking is always performed manually through the smartphone app after the timer or restricted schedule ends.
A built-in Virtual Test Lock allows users to explore the app and experiment with schedules before connecting a physical lock. This helps users understand how different access rules work and test routines before applying them to real cabinets, drawers, refrigerators, pantries or other storage areas.
The app also provides battery monitoring features for connected locks, including real-time battery percentage display and optional low-battery auto-unlock settings to help prevent accidental lockouts.
Habit Control is designed as a practical routine-management tool that adds structure and intentionality to daily habits.

### 3/5 — Can’t schedule on Sundays

*2026-05-02*

I want to schedule the lock to engage at the same time seven days a week and am unable to schedule anything on Sunday. The event doesn’t appear and the schedule is unchanged. This happens in both customer times and full day.

### 1/5 — Fridge lock - Disappointing

*2025-11-12*

Extremely disappointed in the quality and functionality of the fridge lock.

### 1/5 — Great Concept; Poor Execution

*2025-08-09*

App failed to connect to box after a few weeks of use and required breaking the hinges to access the battery pack to remove the battery to reset the device. Once repaired and reconnected to the app it again worked for about a week before losing the ability to connect.

Battery is also non rechargeable and an odd size. Can’t access battery without opening the device.

Great concept but poor execution especially for the price tag.

Oh, and the app very bare bones and looks like it was not designed by a professional.

**Developer response:** Hello,
Thank you for sharing your experience — we’re very sorry for the frustration this caused. We recently discovered a firmware issue that affected Bluetooth reconnection on some early units. Our latest firmware update fully resolves this problem and prevents it from happening again.

Please reach out to us at info@habit-control.com
so we can either replace your unit or help you update the firmware. We would really appreciate the opportunity to make this right for you.

### 1/5 — Lock stopped working

*2025-04-11*

The lock box worked for two years, but then the unlocking action stopped working. The app connects to the box, and the box beeps, but it doesn’t unlock. There no way to get the box to unlock.

**Developer response:** Hello,
Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue after two years of use. If the app connects and the box beeps but doesn’t unlock, it may be related to an older firmware version or possibly physical wear or damage to the mechanism over time.
In either case, we can absolutely help you solve it.

Please reach out to us at info@habit-control.com
, and our team will walk you through the fix or provide further support if needed. We’d really appreciate the chance to get this resolved for you.

### 5/5 — Works good

*2024-02-10*

Simple and useful app. I’ve been using it for a while - works fine for me.

### 3/5 — Poorly designed App

*2023-10-01*

The lock is amazing in the sense that it does what it is supposed to do, however, the effort put behind the application (which is the only way to control it) is lackluster to say the least. The app loves to not show the accurate time remaining when using the the timer option. Someone fix it!!!!

**Developer response:** Hello,
Thank you for your honest feedback — we really appreciate it. We recently identified and fixed the timer-display issue you mentioned, along with several other bugs. We’ve also added new features and improvements to make the app more reliable and easier to use.

Please make sure you have the latest version of the app and firmware installed — the updates should fully resolve the problem you experienced.

If you still notice anything unusual, feel free to contact us at info@habit-control.com
. We’d be happy to help, and we hope these improvements will change your opinion.

### 5/5 — Works good

*2023-01-01, version 1.0*

I’ve been using it for about a month now, and it really helps me to keep snacks away for some time.
App working nice and smooth
