## What is Habit Star?

Habit Star helps you keep doing the things you meant to keep doing.

Check a habit off and it is done. That is the whole daily loop — one tap, on a screen that shows today and nothing else. Everything below is what the app does with those taps once you have been at it a while.

BUILD THE HABIT
• Daily, every other day, chosen weekdays, or a number of times a week
• Several times a day, if that is the shape of it
• Reminders at the times you pick, worded the way you want
• Streaks, and a star when you reach a goal you set
• Drag habits into the order you actually do them

SEE WHAT HAPPENED
• The month as a calendar, every day green, amber or red
• A timeline where a run of days draws as one unbroken line
• Momentum, consistency by week, and the days you tend to skip
• Your record and your current run, side by side

RECORD MORE THAN A CHECKMARK
• Add fields to a habit — minutes, reps, weight, how it felt
• Set a target and see how often you hit it
• A journal of every note and value you have written, searchable by word or by meaning

ON YOUR HOME SCREEN, YOUR WRIST, AND BY VOICE
• A widget you can check habits off from without opening the app
• A progress ring and your perfect-day run, on the home and lock screens
• "Hey Siri, mark meditation done in Habit Star"
• An Apple Watch app with today's list, and complications for the watch face

APPLE HEALTH
• Link a habit to steps, exercise or mindful minutes and let it check itself off
• Read-only and opt-in per habit. It only ever adds a completion, never removes one

ON NEWER IPHONES
• Describe a habit in a sentence and the form fills itself in
• Write "ran 5k in 28 min" as a note and the numbers land on the habit's fields
• Apple's own model, running on the phone. Nothing is sent anywhere. iOS 26 on iPhone 15 Pro or later

YOURS TO KEEP
• In English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Português, 日本語 and Suomi
• Everything lives on your device. No account, no sign-up, no server
• Export a full backup whenever you like and restore it on a new phone
• Thirty-four themes, light and dark — pick one of each and the app follows your phone

HABIT STAR PRO
A one-time unlock, not a subscription. Trends, the calendar, the timeline, fields and targets, the journal, Apple Health, the Apple Watch app, the on-device suggestions, CSV export, and sixteen more themes with a builder for making your own. Buy it once and it follows your Apple ID to every device.

The free app tracks habits properly. Today's screen, streaks, reminders, widgets, Siri, backup and restore are not behind the paywall.

Good interface is great for the minimalist. I can see the progress of each habit, very convenient!

**Developer response:** Awesome! Providing an easy to use and minimalistic experience is one of the driving factors when considering new features and updating the user interface. I hope to bring some more features to the app in 2022 to continue to build on the foundation that is there. Best of luck building your habits in 2022 and thank you for using Habit Star! 🎉

### 5/5 — Best habit tracker out there

*2020-10-30*

My life’s a mess and habit star is helping to make me stay organized. It’s flexibility is what sets it a part. Instead of being lazy and chaotic I’m now lazy and organized. No, but seriously, it’s helping me to get things done that I’d typically procrastinate on or forget entirely. +1 habit star

**Developer response:** That's so great to hear! Your honesty is commendable; at the end of the day if you are getting things done and Habit Star is helping then we have achieved our goal! Keep it up and hope to continue to provide more value as we work hard to deliver more features. 💯 🙌

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2020-10-06*

I love this app! As soon as I opened it, I felt like it was made for me. I like this habit tracking app better than the others because of how personalized I can make it. I can create virtually any habit I want, set a time to get a little reminder, change screen options and start building up all my good habits. The ability to earn stars and build up many days in a row makes it fun too!

**Developer response:** Thank you! One of the primary goals with Habit Star is to provide a beautiful and customizable user interface. Enjoy tracking your habits and best of luck earning all the stars! ❤️

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.3.0 — 2026-10-12

Habit Star speaks your language.

• Try every Pro feature free for 14 days. Nothing is charged and nothing renews, and everything you record stays yours.
• Habit Star is now in German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and Finnish, and follows your iPhone's language. To pick one for Habit Star alone, go to Settings › Habit Star › Language.
• Dates read the way your language writes them, and times follow your iPhone's 12- or 24-hour setting.
• Workout, medication, practice and reading habits use your language's words for exercises, sets and doses, including the habits you already have.

Fixes
• A count of one reads correctly: "1 entry", "1 time a week".
• The empty review on Trends says how many days it looked at.

### 2.2.6 — 2026-10-05

Pick a habit, or say what you're after.

• Tap + to pick from over 260 ready-made habits, or make your own. Each one comes set up with how often and what to record.
• Search by what you're after, not only by name: "fitness", "sleep better" or "save money" finds the habits that help. Or choose a goal, like Sleep better or Move more.
• The first time you check off a habit, Habit Star marks it, and for a once-a-day habit offers a reminder at that same time. You can pick another time right there.
• The week under each habit shows which day you're on and marks today, and a Today button takes you back.
• Pro screens you haven't unlocked can show themselves working on a sample day.
• Finishing everything for the day shows a short note instead of moving your list around.
• Habits you do any time sit behind one button in your routine, and check off just like they do on Home.
• New to Habit Star? Setup now starts with the habit catalogue, and a restore is one tap from the first screen.

Fixes
• Weekly and chosen-day habits no longer count days before they started, in your momentum, stats or reminders.
• The tour moves between steps without pausing, and a Pro screen's sample day opens straight away.
• A redeemed code unlocks Pro straight away, without restarting the app.
• The count at the top of Home updates when you finish a habit from elsewhere.
• Pro's purchase button stays at the bottom of the screen, with Restore and Redeem a code under it.

### 2.2.5 — 2026-09-27

A streak that survives a bad day.

• A streak is the days you have been in a strong rhythm. Keep your last two weeks at 80% or better and one missed day no longer breaks it
• Each habit shows its momentum right behind its name. The fill is your last two weeks, a flame marks a goal reached, and it pulses when every day was kept
• For a timed habit or a workout, the checkbox becomes the play button. Tap it to start the timer or the routine; it turns back into a checkbox once you are done
• What you recorded today, like 2.4 mi or 10 min, shows under the checkbox, and nothing else sits under a habit's name
• Bigger days of the week on every habit, and compact rows now match the full ones
• Made for iPad and bigger screens. Home shows your list and the habit you pick side by side, Calendar shows the month beside the day, Trends shows your review beside the details, and your routine sits beside anytime habits
• Adding a habit on a bigger screen shows every schedule at once, with − and + for how many times a day or a week
• Progress now leads a habit's stats, and numbers in a recording are easier to tap and fill in
• The schedule picker shows the edge of the next option, so "five times a week" is easier to find

Fixes
• A streak that broke overnight shows as broken when you open the app, not after your next tap
• A three-times-a-week habit with a perfect record reads as perfect, not as rebuilding
• Sheets open the right way up when you hold your iPad or phone sideways
• A long list of stars scrolls wherever you drag it

### 2.2.4 — 2026-09-23

A workout you can walk.

• Tick each set as you do it in your routine, and move between exercises with one tap
• Pair exercises into a superset and walk them round by round — the pairing is remembered next time
• Add an exercise mid-workout, right from the routine
• Every routine card is laid out the same way, so Done is always in the same place

Fixes
• Done finishes a workout in your routine, and asks before recording sets you haven't ticked
• Nothing on a routine card shifts as a timer counts down
• A timer reaching its target buzzes once, on time — not again when you come back to the app
• Number fields take a decimal point, and a comma works as one
• The home screen widget updates as soon as you check something off in the app

### 2.2.3 — 2026-09-22

Fixes

• Setting up your first habit on specific days could leave the Done button off the bottom of the screen. It scrolls now.
• The Routine widget told some Pro members the routine was part of Pro. It knows better, and tapping it opens your routine rather than the home screen.
• Opening the app from a widget or a reminder always leaves a way back to today.
• Apple Health no longer says it is connected when you did not allow it. If nothing has come through, it says so and tells you where to look.
• A redeemed code unlocks Pro straight away instead of waiting for a restart.
• On iPhone SE and mini, the date at the top of Home no longer disappears.
• Apple Health is no longer offered for a count you are already tapping out, and a glasses-of-water field no longer tries to fill itself from a figure Health measures by volume.

New

• Timers can buzz when you reach your goal. The timer keeps running, so ten minutes of meditation can turn into twelve and you still know you got there. Turn it on or off under Routine.
• Habits you do several times a day can record as you tap. Six glasses of water is six recordings, without typing a number.
• Finished habits move down into their own section, so what is left stays at the top — and the day you finish it, Habit Star says so.
• The Apple Watch opens on where today stands: what is done, what is left, and your run of perfect days.
• You can redeem a code without leaving the app. Look under Restore on the Pro screen.
• How often? now goes up to 24 times a day, so eight glasses of water — or one an hour — is a schedule you can actually pick.
• The Reminders screen now lists every habit that will remind you, and when. A snoozed habit says until when; if your phone has run out of room for reminders, it names the habits that missed out; and if iOS has switched notifications off for Habit Star, it says so and takes you to Settings.
• The routine card has a proper Done button, and a habit you simply tick off no longer sits in an empty screen.
