## What is HabitBoard?

HabitBoard is a simple and flexible habit tracker. It helps you to form and keep track of your intentional habits, provides valuable insights for your decisions, and offers support in staying attentive.

### Personal Habits
If you're just starting out with one or two habits or already have a long list of things you want to keep track of — HabitBoard imposes no limitations on the types of habits you can track. The Free version allows for tracking of 3 habits, Pro supports unlimited habits.

### Historic Data
It provides a detailed calendar-like view of your historic data which grows over time. In addition, you get habit-specific statistics like current and longest streaks, completion rate, and count by week, month, and year.

### Statistics
HabitBoard provides meaningful and beautiful stats that give an overview over all your tracked habits. You can inspect your overall weekly and monthly completions, get an overall completion rate, and keep track of your daily completions. Available with HabitBoard Pro.

### Weekly Goals and Skipped Days
Some habits are not planned daily and HabitBoard makes it easy to configure automatically skipped days and weekly goals per habit. If you set a weekly goal, you'll see an additional label for the current progress in the habit list.

### Notes
You can add notes to individual days and review them for each habit. This can come handy to, e.g., remember why you marked a day as skipped, to keep track of when you start a new book with your reading habit, or take note when you start a new progression in your exercise habit.

### Customizable Colors
Each habit can use colors according to your personal taste or for visual grouping of habits. You can customize both the colors for done and missed habit states. Available with HabitBoard Pro.

### Widgets
HabitBoard offers Lock Screen widgets, a daily completions widget, and small, medium, and a large calendar-like widgets (which are interactive on iOS 17) so that you can glance on your habits even if you're not using the app.

### Shortcuts
With the “Mark habit as done” and “Set note for habit” Shortcuts actions, you can combine different tasks to automatically keep your HabitBoard up-to-date.

### Archived Habits
Some things also come to an end (or are paused), so HabitBoard offers a dedicated place for archived habits. Habits that live there are still fully interactive, so it can also be used as a more private area for certain habits. Available with HabitBoard Pro.

### Configuration of List Labels
Streaks are not always the most meaningful metric — sometimes it's better to focus more on completions. With HabitBoard, you can decide whether you want to display the current streak, weekly, monthly, and yearly completions in addition to the names in the habit list.

### Reminders
When you’re starting out, a daily reminder can be useful. If you want, the app notifies you when it’s time to review your HabitBoard for the day.
In addition, with HabitBoard Pro, each habit can have its own reminders. You can choose the time and weekdays where you want to be reminded, customize the notification message, and decide whether to be reminded if you already marked the habit for the day. And you can have multiple reminders per habit.

### Automatic Backup and Sync
HabitBoard securely and privately backups and syncs your habits via iCloud. If you're using a second device, your data is already there.

### Support for Apple Watch
If you’re using an Apple Watch, you can track your daily habits from your wrist. The dedicated watch app allows for marking habits directly (which is synced with the paired iPhone) and provides various complications for your watch face to display daily progress.

### 3/5 — Really good but…

*2025-12-30*

I will instantly make this review five stars if you can, please fix the issue where tapping on the widgets the app… I was a user of the abandoned app Momentum (momentum.cc) for many years, which allows you to adjust your goals from the widget… I purchased this lifetime, but I cannot update my habits from the widget. It opens the app and also doesn’t even mark where I clicked.

**Developer response:** I think it’s already working: you can update today’s habit point from the widget - both on the rightmost habit point and - depending on the widget - the square on the upper left, next to the habit name.

Not supporting all displayed days for interactions is by intention, as it would be a source of accidental taps.

### 5/5 — Accountability at its finest!

*2024-02-28*

HabitBoard has been a game-changer for me! As someone who enjoys supporting indie developers, I couldn't be happier with this app. The interface is user-friendly, and beautiful in its simplicity. The accountability features with the widgets help keep me on track.

One standout feature I appreciate is the app's commitment to privacy. Unlike many other apps, HabitBoard doesn't track unnecessary data, which enhances my overall experience and trust in using it. Kudos to the developer for creating such a fantastic app. Highly recommend!

**Developer response:** Thank you for this motivating review! It really made my day :) I'm very happy you like HabitBoard with its simplicity and commitment to privacy!

### 4/5 — Great app, but steep minimum requirements

*2024-01-19*

As a Apple Watch 3 owner I can’t use the watch app since it requires latest OS. Same goes for people who wanna stay below iOS 17. It’s a pity because it’s an amazing piece of software. Maybe developer will implement support for older Apple wearables. Cheers!

**Developer response:** Many thanks for letting me know! I know the feeling when something new I want to use is not supported on an older device I own. When I've started working on HabitBoard, I wanted to make sure it works on the latest and the previous versions (which now already leaves out the Watch series 3, which doesn't support watchOS 9).

However, I've since then bumped the required versions to the latest — the app had so few users and the development effort to also support previous versions simply can't be justified for that. I know this reduces the potential group of users even more, but I hope to keep support for the current versions of iOS and watchOS also with future releases.

And in case you ever buy a new watch, the HabitBoard watch app is already waiting for you :) Thanks for your kind words on the quality of the app, it makes me very happy! — Florian

### 5/5 — Simple but powerful in what it achieves

*2023-01-05*

Where has this little app been hiding?
Simple, easy to use, just enough to make it work for my scatterbrain.
Like Florian's other software for macOS and windows (MP3TAG - it is great for making those MP3 playlists into what you hoped for way back in the day) it works as advertised
What I like:
- not invasive
- simple to set up
- keeps my private stuff private
- small footprint and simple pricing
- got me going right away to get 2023 off to a great start.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I wanted

*2022-10-18*

Very basic app to track whatever behaviors you want daily. Couldn’t be easier to set up and use. Well worth the small one-time purchase fee. I use it to keep track of my exercise, doing puzzles, taking prescription pills, and practicing music daily. Best feature: NO DATA MINING by the app developer. Most apps like this invade your privacy.

**Developer response:** Many thanks for the great review! Happy you like HabitBoard and that it helps you keep track of your daily habits. Glad you appreciate the privacy decision: that's one of the reasons I built the app — I don't like participating in data harvesting either.
