When the app first launched, "bot" meant something like Siri, not ChatGPT, so the point of the app was to get better assistance. Now, artificial intelligence language models are everywhere, and the point is now more-so to get assistance from someone who won't lie straight through their teeth to you and always tell you that they're right-- even today, Nature performs better than artificial inventions. I used the app a few times quite a while ago, and it worked alright. The app was entirely dormant for about half a decade, but recently received an update. However, it doesn't seem that there's actually anybody there to talk to... And as well, I am nearly number 15,000 in a line that doesn't appear to be moving at all. The idea is very cool, but it needs better funding and a greater attention to its management. ### 2/5 — Paid Derps *2021-05-08, version 2.8* 75% of the Hals are derps, but they are helpful for the really simple things that you probably wouldn’t want a mistake to occur with. ### 3/5 — Kinda disappointed *2020-12-26, version 2.2* I love technology especially AI technology and the future of machine learning. Unfortunately I just realized that when chatting with Hal it’s not a computer but a actual human being. I just applied myself and I look forward to hopefully working closely with the app and company. I think it is the future: digital butlery. I think with some UI polishing, slightly stricter employment requirements, quadrupled marketing, Hal has the potential to be the sort of app that charges $12.99 a month. I hope to become a Hal. I hope even moreso that I can become more than just a Hal for the company. I look forward to hearing their response. ### 5/5 — The HaL *2019-09-17, version 1.8* This is the best experience I have ever had they interact with you and they are help ful and they should have 5 star I really recommend this app it’s the best ### 1/5 — Immediate let down *2019-05-15, version 1.6* Downloaded the app, 9pm not super late. It says available service 24 hours a day in the app description. I asked my first question and I got a automated response saying “no Hals available” I would have had Hal write a bad review for me but with no Hal it appears this app still needs a lot of work. Deleted right away. It’s not worth having some random person who can track my location steal my information and anything else they might be able to get their hands on. ### 1/5 — Not what you think *2019-04-11, version 1.6* This isn’t a virtual assistant like Siri, it’s some random guy in India behind a screen that takes 10 minutes to respond with info from google. Definitely not something that I would pay a monthly subscription for. They literally halo you with anything and provide as much help as possible. I can’t believe this is known more. You can send your location to them not knowing wether it’s safe or not. Are their background checks? Are the Hal’s safe and not Pedos looking for my location. Does nothing at all except collect your details. I only downloaded it to leave this review, and warn you in advance before you might grow as a company. HAL is property of Warner Bros. You do not own the right to base a company off other’s intellectual property. If you’re smart enough to code an app you should be more than smart enough to know this. App Reported. ### 1/5 — Pointless *2019-07-09, version 1.7* Why use HAL 9000 as the focal point of the app but not give it the voice?
