Now, you have to pay to play. Had to delete all my progress on 3-4 apps due to inability to play without a subscription. Deleted this app as well. The writing was on the wall after seeing the Halfbrick+ logo on my favorite game’s startup screen. The $100 exclusive membership is really steep to pay for what is there currently with no guarantee on what is to come. Sure it’s lifetime but I could spend less than that buying the games I want individually. If you want to provide the ability to rent all the games via subscription cool but don’t take away the ability to buy and own one individual game outright. ### 1/5 — The death of owning your own games *2024-05-15* As a long time player of fruit ninja classic I have to say that this is downright the worst possible decision for halfbrick to make. This subscription service costs the same amount of money I paid for a game only it charges said amount EVERY SINGLE MONTH. And in my face, as if to spit on me, is the slogan “Because free to play games stink”. If you wanted me to pay for something, giving me something more like a new game to play that I would buy like a new fruit ninja title that would cost money. Instead halfbrick has decided they should instead take away the games we already had and have poured hours and years of progress into. I don’t want a refund. I want to play the game I paid to own. Virtually nobody will buy this service due to the fact that sometimes you just want to play one game from a studio and that’s not worth the outrage price to pay compared to a meager game pool. Apple Arcade for instance has hundreds of games at about the same price as this service. If halfbrick doesn’t reverse this decision or at least make this subscription incredibly cheaper, they’ll have lost a long time fan in me. Then pay for this subscription, I did get a chance to try some of the early access games when it was in beta. We've since added heaps of classic games to the service, and recently released Halfbrick Sports: Football, which can be enjoyed completely for free! Even this hub app has seen a visual overhaul with more content to come. We hope you can give Halfbrick+ another chance in the future, even if that's through the games that are free to play. I played the classics, jetpack joyride, fruit ninja classic, Dan the man, and collosatron, and they were taken away. It’s depressing halfbrick, very depressing. Please halfbrick, I know you can change your decision. Make a kid proud. **Developer response:** Hey Roboman, thanks for the review and feedback! We get it, there's a lot of negativity around subscriptions. Without the sub, we wouldn't have been able to support the team with making and bringing back certain classics. Jetpack, Dan the Man, and Fruit Ninja can all still be played for free, they have free versions. The classic releases offer premium versions without ads, so the subscription allows them to exist. We're looking to improve and make all players proud, so hopefully you can enjoy games like Halfbrick Sports: Football, which can be played for free completely, with no ads. Halfbrick+ subscribers get extra goodies, but the base game is fully free. This hub app has even been improved to manage your free account, connect with friends and learn more about the games.
