### 4/5 — It’s great

*2026-08-30, version 3.1.2*

Minus 1 star for asking me to rate it over and over

### 4/5 — Pinch to zoom

*2026-08-29, version 3.1.2*

My only complaint is the zoom mode isn’t fluid so sometimes you have to choose between too far or too close

### 4/5 — It's great just expensive

*2026-08-29, version 3.1.2*

If the lifetime was the yearly fee it would be much better

### 3/5 — Doesn’t open from the lock-screen

*2026-08-28, version 3.1.2*

Very often the app would not open from the lock-screen using action button or the circle widget. It’s really frustrating, especially if I need to capture something quickly.

Love the process zero mode, but I would reallllly like the overall responsiveness to be improved.

### 4/5 — Fabulous, willing to stay around

*2026-08-28, version 3.1.2*

Genuinely miles above the regular photo app. Not only do the pictures look better right out the bat, but they are much easier to edit properly. My main issue is sometimes when you open it it lags to the point you need to force close it and reopen to get the camera to display. i also have no interest in the 3 version. otherwise. perfect. minimal, love it.

### 4/5 — Nice…

*2026-08-24, version 3.1.2*

Its nice but thers a problem with it , I can’t edit my fotos that I captured with the main camera. But overallits nice

### 2/5 — Not what I expected

*2026-08-18, version 3.1.2*

It does allow you more control over the camera than the native app and I love that guy can play with the ISO and the shutter speed but the images that produces have way too much noise, specially on low light, to the point that are only useful for cellphone screen and without cropping too much or the noise will be unbearable. It has a lot of potential but these things need to be fixed first

### 3/5 — Always underexposed

*2026-08-17, version 3.1.2*

I really like the Chroma Noir filter. The grain is very pleasing. However the photos come always out much darker than shown on screen. It’s just too much work to adjust every photo. This seems a defect. Hope it is fixed as right now won’t purchase. Also, would love it to be able to adjust the grain.

### 3/5 — good but can't capture quickly

*2026-08-14, version 3.1.2*

photos look really nice, but I have an issue where any pictures i take within the first 10-20 seconds of opening the app don't get saved. A lot of times you have to quickly open the camera to capture something and i've missed/lost a lot of good photos because they just don't take

### 4/5 — Great app, crash and bug fixes needed

*2026-08-13, version 3.1.2*

I love this app so much. It has genuinely changed my life. It works so well for taking instagram photos, and it is a great substitute for a digital camera (it takes pictures that turn out better than my friends’ digi cam photos). It is also helpful for photographing my art, which is very challenging to do accurately. This app crashes a lot. It sometimes doesnt save photos and just closes down. Very sad when this happens, but i am still able to use it pretty well. I am grateful that flash was added, as well as zoom and a bunch of camera modes. I hope the devs turn their attention to really fixing the crash issues though before adding more functionality.

### 4/5 — Great camera app

*2026-08-11, version 3.1.2*

It has a super minimal UI, no ai features, and pictures look stunning. Also, lots of ui and icon customization, as well as countless tweaks to get your pictures looking exactly how you want them.

### 1/5 — Won’t let me use the app

*2026-08-08, version 3.1.2*

So when I downloaded the app for better camera quality, I went past all of the instructions and I got to pay for a free trial, but when I didn’t want to play for it the app dosent even have an X button to leave the free trial thing, so you basically have to pay to use the app.

### 1/5 — This is not free app

*2026-08-07, version 3.1.2*

This comes up as free app - but no. It won’t let you even test the app without subscribing.

### 4/5 — The best secondary camera

*2026-08-05, version 3.1.2*

Have been using Halide for 5 years at this point. The app is great to use and the latest colours are amazing. 99% of my use is with the process zero. My only gripe is that it’s not always reliable and responsive so I no longer have it set to my action button. The default iOS camera app opens faster and is more likely to get a shot quickly.

### 4/5 — Lock screen launcher gets stuck all the time

*2026-08-04, version 3.1.2*

Lock screen launcher on the free version gets stuck all the time

### 1/5 — Unresponsive support

*2026-08-03, version 3.1.2*

This camera keeps on getting fozen. I’ve lost a bunch of my footage from important events. I would NOT trust this for anything important. Even paid version feels like a waste of money.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Trash

*2026-08-31, version 3.1.2*

Trash is more useful often times than something this awful. Nothing professional about this app. Dysfunctional manual camera lacking control functions. Two middle fingers up.

### 1/5 — major glitch, deletes photos

*2026-08-27, version 3.1.2*

it doesn't matter how good the app is when it will randomly delete photos from your once in a life time trip. you can take photos but sometimes they vanish after a few seconds. This glitch is intermittent and strikes when you forget to keep double checking... sad

### 1/5 — Pay to use AVOID

*2026-08-23, version 3.1.2*

This is a pay to use app, nothing special. Keep your money and avoid this app!

### 1/5 — Crashes every time

*2026-08-19, version 3.1.2*

I’ve been able to use the app ONCE. Every time it crashes when opening and I could never use it outside my home because of that.

### 1/5 — Everything is dark

*2026-08-17, version 3.1.2*

Waste of money. Apple Camera app takes better pictures

### 1/5 — Definitely not worth it.

*2026-08-16, version 3.1.2*

Hope it had a trial option to test before buying. I trusted some reviews and paid for a year subscription. Not up to par with Leica app or even the native iphone camera once you learn the proper
settings.

### 1/5 — Not worth

*2026-08-15, version 3.1.2*

You have to pay

### 1/5 — Dark images

*2026-08-15, version 3.1.2*

Promises so much, but unfortunately is hampered by a significant processing issue which causes most images to come out overly dark and not reminiscent of the preview at all…in fact not even close. Unfortunately this renders so many images ugly and utterly unusable. The only option is to use the raw setting, but you can just use the native Apple camera app for that. Maybe the developer of the app will improve this, but for the time being the issue renders the app completely redundant and more or less unusable. Save your money for the time being.

### 1/5 — Can’t transfer restored photos to pc

*2026-08-11, version 3.1.2*

I was excited to use your app. I paid for a one year subscription without a trial because there was none even though I mentioned the trial.
Using the raw setting I was able to take photos that more clearly represented the color of what I was looking at then the natural iPhone settings, with the stores the color.
The photos did not save correctly originally and I had to use the recover process.
After doing that, when I plugged my iPhone into my PC and look into the iPhone folder where the photos should be there is nothing there even though I can clearly see them on my phone.
I'm an old man with very limited time and I didn't expect this to give me problems that I had to deal with. It should've worked right out of the box. If there is a quick fix you can tell me that will make this work, I'll keep it, otherwise I'll just write off the 20 bucks as a wasted scam and delete the app. This is extremely disappointing as I had recommended this app This several students of mine as a way to photograph the paintings with more real color and now I have to tell them not to buy it after all.
To repeat, very, very disappointed.
The only thing I did wrong, was I didn't read the reviews.
Can this be fixed?

### 1/5 — functionally useless right now

*2026-08-09, version 3.1.2*

app consistently fails to save photos now, dozens of moments lost to unsalvageable unrestorable grey images. i miss mark 2, mark 3 has been increasingly buggy and unusable and its honestly such a shame. please sort it out, because this years subscription feels utterly wasted and it's incredibly frustrating for how expensive this app is.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-23, version 3.1.2*

Good 🥰

### 5/5 — Halide keeps getting better!

*2026-08-17, version 3.1.2*

The ability to choose and tune even the Apple picture profile is appreciated.

The film simulation is really nice, with the various options and ability to tweak settings independently.

Not sure if it is available already, but saving my own presets alongside the defaults would make our experience even better.

### 5/5 — Starting out well enough

*2026-08-16, version 3.1.2*

I know nothing about photography. This app has so far taught me as much as I could possibly have wanted to know in the few weeks I have had it. Genuinely might build a hobby because of this app and its teaching materials.

### 5/5 — Long term user

*2026-08-03, version 3.1.2*

I’m a very long term user of Halide. I’m loving the new additions of the looks and the editing. The looks are super with my favourite being Valencia. The only oddity I’m finding is that what I see in the preview before taking the photo with the look doesn’t quite match what gets captured. And I love what I see as preview before capture. So I’m not sure where the mismatch is.

### 5/5 — I absolutely love the photos from this app

*2026-08-03, version 3.1.2*

I’m so glad that I found this app because I really do love the pics that I get from it. My only notes would be that it can be slow sometimes and I miss moments. And on occasion it will really get behind while trying to process and gives me errors which can really make me miss a moment. 4.5 stars out of 5.

### 5/5 — I just said “oh my god” out loud

*2026-08-01, version 3.1.2*

The editing tools in this app are beautiful. I wish I could share a photo here. A bridge in northern Japan through a rain-specked window. Manually focused, and perspective corrected! In a lovely film-like noir. It’s amazing.

### 5/5 — Rebirth of the IPhone Camera

*2026-08-01, version 3.1.2*

There’s a reason people are fetching out their iPhones from a decade ago in order to take photos to plaster all over social media. There was something charming, maybe even magical about the photos we could take on them. Raw images with visible grain that didn’t only capture moments, but their essence as well. This magic still exists, and it lives in Halide. Halide will reinvigorate your love for your iPhone. It gives you that same charm, but elevated. Beautiful images that don’t come out of the other end looking completely foreign to what you were seeing on your screen before you snapped the image. An intuitive editing system that makes every picture you take look phenomenal and professional. It completely eliminates the need to seek out tons of vintage alternatives, the camera on your phone is once again functional. You will be EXCITED to take pictures, and find yourself itching to capture even the mundane for an excuse to open this app up. Can’t recommend it enough!!!

### 5/5 — Gives you access to the very good cameras already in your iPhone

*2026-07-31, version 3.1.2*

by bypassing the multiple layers of post processing that Apple applies by default or their camera app, Halide allows you to access the very good digital cameras already in your phone. Pictures have a more natural feel to them, the camera behaves like any other digital camera without ugly ML sharpening and beautiful grain is left untouched instead of smoothed out by the Apple photo pipeline.

The user interface can sometimes feel clunky, but not in a way that would make me want to stop using the app.

For me Halide is very much worth its price.

### 5/5 — Photography

*2026-07-31, version 3.1.2*

Im doing a free trial and I gotta say damn the pictures come out real good!
I’m debating keeping the subscription lol I just don’t like to pay haha

### 5/5 — Good app

*2026-07-30, version 3.1.2*

It’s good for photos
