After completing the test, I did not receive any results. I thought this app would help me with my sentences but it didn’t. I purposefully asked a question incorrectly and then correctly. Neither were marked incorrect. Do I have to subscribe to see just that basic thing? ### 3/5 — Bugs *2024-06-02, version 3.30.0* I like the overall concept. My first thought was it was better than Duolingo. Then I started taking the quizzes and I got the answers wrong because all answers were correct but I didn't know which one the bot wanted me to choose. For example, "I live in... City A, B, C, or D. Without context I have 25% chance of getting it right. Which one does it want me to choose? The second bug is that some lessons show "Error loading script" The third bug is that I sometimes I can't press the X or Skip button during an ad. Anyways, I like the app. It's just kind of buggy. ### 3/5 — Hallo was better before *2024-01-06* Hallo was better before. Every students were getting better and better day by day because there were Livestreams and instamatch which helped us so much but this update is absolutely useless for everyone and not lot of people uses it anymore ### 3/5 — Promising but bug heavy *2023-12-14, version 3.22.1* This app seems promising and I’m excited to be able to actually use it. In its current state, I cannot do any lesson without it going back to the main screen. It does the same for the role play selections, even in multiple different languages. The farthest I could get was two responses and then it would send me back to the Home Screen. Today, it is not working at all. ### 4/5 — Excellent conversational practice!! *2023-11-06, version 3.19.2* Great app! The AI free conversation is super helpful for learning a brand new language! I’ve been studying Portuguese about one month for my job and use Hallo’s lessons in addition to Duolingo because Duolingo is slower and better for when I only have a minute or so and for practicing pronunciation but Hallo actually helps me hear more sentences and phrases in context and much more quickly than Duolingo. I feel like I learn so many random words in Duolingo but Hallo gives me immediate conversation skills and common words and phrases I would be using in introduction situations. The AI convo pushes me to recall what I know quickly and it understands me even if my responses are broken with either a poor accent or bad grammar. The AI teacher also speaks in long sentences that help me fill in the blanks and learn more of the words and phrases I want to use. Great app!! Only give 4 stars for now because I still use it with Duolingo because I want additional help with pronunciation. I only use the free version though so if I paid for a tutor maybe that would be included. ### 1/5 — Poor UX *2023-10-24, version 3.18.1* A good idea, but asks for money immediately after you select a translation. And I am 100% against filters for adults when conversing with an AI in the privacy of my home. That I am paying for. But the number one reason I cannot recommend is the UI and overall design is very basic and poor. And it's expensive.
