### 2/5 — Low quality, contractor-grade app

*2022-09-26, version 2208.2.0*

This app is slow, buggy, and you can’t purchase anything from the shop unless you’ve purchased in-game currency and loaded the shop in the game.

That is, it’s impossible to buy anything in the shop via the app if you haven’t loaded the game since buying in-game currency. It’s super annoying.

Finally, the game-switcher design (WITH THE LITTLE SHOPPING CARTS?!) is such a waste of high-value screen space.

The shopping cart makes this app look like an intern project. The lack of polish on this app seems to underscore the fractured efforts in developing Halo Infinite.

### 4/5 — very cool

*2022-06-13, version 2204.1.0*

Halo Waypoint is a very interesting app, in which it allowed me to check the shop, and see my challenges and battle passes in Halo Infinite, and see my stats in MCC on the go. However, one thing is missing and has been for a while now. Ever since Lone Wolves has dropped, customization of your spartan in Halo Infinite has suddenly ceased without a trace. Granted, this may be because 343 and Microsoft need to update the textures from Lone Wolves so you can equip your season 2 cosmetics with ease via the app, but taking down the entire customization because of that seems kind of exaggerated, when you could just put a "texture not added yet; check back later" sign on the items which haven't been added yet. However, if there is another reason for why they removed it, I would like to know why. Other than that, Halo Waypoint is a good app to use.

### 4/5 — Awesome

*2022-06-11, version 2204.1.0*

I play way too much halo so this app makes it better I can work on my spartan on the go and I can show my friends my stats on the go the only problem is that I keep getting a message that says slipspace disruption when I try to open it but other than that it’s good

### 2/5 — Fix Your App and I hope I get my money

*2022-06-03, version 2204.1.0*

Freaking awful, DONT BUY ANYTHING from the shop on the this app or Microsoft will STILL charge you. Pretty much useless app since none of the customization loads half the time…

### 4/5 — Needs work

*2022-05-29, version 2111.6.0*

Ok so I really like the idea of this, but it is so unpolished. If you could maybe polish is more do something to make it look better that would be great other than that it’s great!

### 2/5 — Convenient but feels broken

*2022-05-19, version 2111.6.0*

The app is convenient but it loads poorly. I want to load up the app and be able to make swift changes but sadly, it doesn’t even load in properly at all times and it will show the wrong armor core at times.

### 2/5 — Legacy Service Records???

*2022-05-17, version 2111.6.0*

I have played pretty much all the Halo games, really great times online too. But my concern is that why can’t you see your (legacy) service records at all?! I mean the website is one thing when you go on a computer, but only shows which Halo game you want to buy… Really 343? I’m glad you can see certain SR’s on Halo MCC and Halo 5: Guardians when you go on the app. But still, come on 343! I understand you & Microsoft shutdown the OG servers, but hardcore/veteran players (like myself) want to see the past accomplishments through; campaign, matchmaking, custom games, forge, theater, etc. Please make this a future recommendation🙏

### 3/5 — Needs an update

*2022-03-26, version 2111.4.0*

It’s a good app to check things and customize you Spartan but the customize part needs fixing it doesn’t let you attach anything to yo helmet and if you try to equip certain pieces it crashes and sends you to the Home Screen. Also it sometimes doesn’t work (profile) and you’re forced to sign in and out. Other than those things so far it’s pretty nice.

### 3/5 — It’s Nice, But…

*2022-03-03, version 2111.4.0*

For about 24 hours now (since I downloaded the app), I can’t actually join Halo Reach. It keeps saying that there’s a “Slipspace Disruption”, and it takes up the whole screen. At that point, if I want to access the app, I have to close it and reopen it. Don’t get me wrong, that isn’t a huge deal, it’s just a bit annoying.

### 3/5 — Should and can be better

*2022-02-08, version 2111.4.0*

Load times for simple things like news and details take too long. I’m sure they’re working on it actively to make it better but it isn’t where it needs to be right now.

### 2/5 — Where was the quality control??

*2022-01-24, version 2111.4.0*

I’m a Halo fan (and a Bungie fan, and a Mass Effect fan). The point is, I like my companion apps. This has the potential but the developers do not seem to have taken the time to include even the most basic account connections or even minimal usability quality control!

Here’s what this needs to make a basic 3-4 star rating:
1. Let us see what are Spartans look like and let us make the edits through the app.
2. FIX THE PURCHASE FUNCTIONS! I own all the games so quit asking me to buy them again! And if you’re going to offer the ability to buy credits, you better make sure that function works!
3. For the love of the Forerunners, please make our campaign and multiplayer stats reviewable through the app! We want to see how we can improve!

Now, if you have any desire to make this a truly great companion app, you should include:
1. Access to the data archives through the campaign.
2. The ability to create and communicate with fireteams through the app.
3. A non-glitchy GUI that allows for seamless transitions between data pages.

343 Studios/Microsoft…we all know you can do better than this. Halo Infinite alone proves that. So if you’re going to make and support this app…do it well and do right by your customer fan base…or don’t offer the app at all!

### 2/5 — Purchase didn’t work

*2022-01-21, version 2111.4.0*

I tried to purchase points and it sent me to the Microsoft website where I bought $20 worth for the new cyber update. I went back to the app and my points weren’t there. I waited, restarted the app, signed out and back in again but the points never applied. I’m going to miss this content because I’m out of town by the time it’s gone and the only way to purchase the points is through waypoint. I contacted Microsoft to fix it, they told me to talk with 343, they told me to talk to Microsoft. AHH! Now I’m scared to try again and lose another $20! Customization is a great feature but other than that, it needs to be optimized to be faster and actually have useful stuff. Anything on the game that saves data (match results etc.) needs to be on this app too.

### 2/5 — Could be so much better

*2022-01-10, version 2111.4.0*

Can’t view Infinite records at all, but you sure can buy the battle pass!

### 3/5 — A Half-baked Halo Hub

*2021-12-17, version 2111.4.0*

This app underwent an overhaul and is intended to be the companion app to Halo Infinite, yet lacks basic features like showing your service record for the game (lifetime kills/deaths/assists, match history) and instead just shows your challenges and Battle Pass progression. The app allows users to access their Spartan customization, but is slow to load a preview of your character model (a static group of images layered atop one another, with some taking a while to appear).

Oh, but it gets worse. At the time of writing, the app shows Halo Infinite as “coming soon”, despite working before Dec 8th (the game’s launch date) and doesn’t allow access to that part of the app. This is a companion app that doesn’t recognize that the game is out.

### 3/5 — ….?

*2021-12-15, version 2111.4.0*

Super glitchy, when customizing your armor it’s glitchy and doesn’t load. Big thumbs down.

### 4/5 — Improvement

*2021-12-09, version 2111.4.0*

I can’t see the notifications. I just redeemed two codes and the app says that it will notify me when they are in the game. But I only saw one in game but not the other. I don’t know if it hasn’t downloaded yet in the game but yeah, I can’t see the notifications it just stays in black.

### 3/5 — Good but needs ranking data

*2021-11-25, version 2111.4.0*

The app is good but needs some work. I couldn’t find the ranking information and it would also be nice to have more data like heatmaps, last few games details etc. if they’re there i couldn’t find them, it should be readily available.

### 2/5 — Meh

*2021-11-22, version 2111.3.0*

I just downloaded the app again since Infinite is on its way. And I’m trying to link my steam account but it won’t let me.

### 4/5 — Needs a bit more

*2021-11-20, version 2111.3.0*

So this app would be great if it had a career option to view your all time k/d and with other game modes. Also the customization doesn’t seem to save but other than that I like this app in general

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Disappointing update

*2022-05-31, version 2204.1.0*

The halo infinite customization features were dropped. It was a bare bones app to begin with and now all it does is browse the store, let you spend credits, etc.

### 1/5 — Not well executed

*2022-05-11, version 2111.6.0*

This app has a lot of potential but it is extremely buggy, the menu system is confusing, and it feels half baked no matter where you are in the app. The biggest disappointment is how buggy the spartan customization is. Hopefully some effort is put into this app at some point because it could be a really cool and useful companion for the game. Especially if one day it included stats and match history/details. But I’ll settle for it just working as designed first.

### 1/5 — Good ideas, but bad overall

*2022-02-01, version 2111.4.0*

Armors consistently load without all pieces. Armors look very bad in the app. Can’t see how coating and skins look in the shop. Changes don’t always transfer to actual game. Only flushed out sections are the news page and shop. Will allow me to do cross-core customization even though it’s not available in the actual game.

### 1/5 — What exactly do I need to turn off on my iPhone for this app to let me sign in???

*2022-01-17, version 2111.4.0*

Turned off every pop-up and cookie blocker on my phone and the app still won’t even let me sign in at all. Very disappointing and non-tech savvy. Best to sign in from the web browser on one of those old fashion computers until this issue gets fixed indefinitely.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2022-01-13, version 2111.4.0*

Buggiest app I have downloaded to date. Customization screen takes minutes to render. Nowhere to link Steam ID, despite supporting it. Profile customization is supposed to let you display top awards you’ve received, but it doesn’t load them at all so there’s nothing to select. The ‘Join Halo Insider’ button takes you to a screen that says it isn’t working and there’s no way to exit without restarting the app completely. As far as I can tell, the app does nothing. The news articles are just links to external sites. You can just google them. It also doesn’t support viewing others’ profiles so I’m not sure why customizing your profile to display achievements is even an option. Who know? Maybe it is supposed to do more but as far as I can tell, half the app won’t load the buttons it’s supposed to have, so it’s impossible to say. I have the newest iPhone, so I’m sure it’s not me.

### 1/5 — Just no

*2021-12-23, version 2111.4.0*

How, as a company owned by Microsoft is this app so insanely unpolished? Half the time I open the app it says “no flight available” and the game is fully launched… Want to check your challenges mid match, since you can’t do it in game for some reason? Good luck trying to click open the challenge menu and then scroll. It takes forever to try scrolling through the app because it feels so clunky. Please make this app better, it would be so helpful to actually use since, like I said, there is no way of checking challenges mid-game.

### 1/5 — Small Indy Developer

*2021-12-20, version 2111.4.0*

This app has “news” and a battle pass progress tracker. That’s it.

It’s not like they don’t have the resources to make something better... it’s freaking Microsoft! Demand better.

### 1/5 — What is this trash?

*2021-12-12, version 2111.4.0*

When companion apps first started showing up they seemed to be going in the right direction. It doesn’t seem like anybody even tries. The apps should be a companion to playing the game. For example being able to adjust load outs while next game is loading or getting Intel on the next map. Anymore they are just another hoop to jump through to unlock content or advertise other products from the developer.

### 1/5 — Not tracking Infinite progress

*2021-11-20, version 2111.3.0*

I’ve tried resetting and relogging and it doesn’t update my battle pass or my Spartan appearance. I also can’t seem to find a way to log out or remove the steam connection.

### 1/5 — APP’s Privacy Is a Ticking Time-Bomb

*2021-11-20, version 2111.3.0*

Between the requirement to enable trackers and cookies on my device to all the backend holes I’ve already found, this thing is a sorry heap of garbage ripe for the picking. Don’t download if you value your information.

It’ll be funny to hear about the eventual breach. I’ll bring the popcorn.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app just needs some work

*2022-05-11, version 2111.6.0*

This app is a great way to connect with the halo games although the app needs some work. :)

### 5/5 — Yes

*2021-11-22, version 2111.3.0*

I will use it to keep up with the daily shop while I am at work

### 5/5 — Worth a bit more effort

*2021-11-16, version 2111.1.1*

Very happy it was revamped and all it needs is some fixes and additions which is worth to make this app great.

### 5/5 — Absolutely seamless

*2021-11-09, version 2106.1.1*

I’ve been waiting for this app for my whole life. The amount of substance and absolute domination in this app is increasingly progressive. I externally cannot show how emotionally connected I am to halo and the impact that it has had on my whole life. This Apple change everything from now on and I am not looking back. 117!

### 5/5 — Finally

*2021-11-06, version 2106.1.1*

I am so Happy that they “finished the fight” and finally gave us a mobile Halo Waypoint. What a great job well done

### 5/5 — Imagine not being in the first 100 reviews

*2021-11-05, version 2106.1.1*

Just here to be in first 100

### 5/5 — App is MUCH better

*2021-09-30, version 2106.1.0*

After changing the app from Halo Channel to Halo Waypoint, the app runs a lot smoother than its previous build so its functionality is enjoyable now

### 5/5 — Great

*2021-09-29, version 2106.1.0*

The new update is awesome. Although I do have an issue with the spotlights. When ever I go into one the text that I read gets cut off on the right hand side. Might be just a bug but overall this I a great app

### 5/5 — Great so far!

*2021-09-29, version 2106.1.0*

I like how easy to navigate and to see games, articles, and other stuff this app can do!

There is a bug that won’t let me be contacted with insider news, just letting you know.

I know this is just the beginning, but so excited to see what else this app will bring and what kind of features and tools for halo infinite and other games!

### 5/5 — Love it (now)

*2021-09-29, version 2106.1.0*

Much better than it was a while ago
