## What is Ham Imaging?

Ham Imaging is the picture side of amateur radio. Hold your phone to any receiver's speaker and watch slow-scan television pictures decode live, or transmit your own with your callsign printed on them — no interface box, no cables, no computer.

RECEIVE
• Live SSTV decode straight from your radio's audio through the device microphone
• Automatic mode detection from the VIS header — leave it on Auto and the picture just appears
• 20 modes decoded and encoded: Scottie 1, 2, 3, 4 and DX; Martin 1, 2 and 3; Robot 12, 24, 36 and 72; PD 50, 90, 120, 160, 180, 240 and 290; and Wraase SC2-180

Decode a picture from a saved recording
Receive has a new folder button, just right of the Receive button. Pick a WAV recording and Ham Imaging decodes it exactly as if the audio had come from the air — same decoder, same result. Useful when the signal has already passed: record it off the radio, or off a web receiver, and decode it afterwards at your leisure. It reads mono or stereo, 8 to 32-bit, at any sample rate, and if a file cannot be used it says why in plain words.
 
Auto (VIS) now decodes stations that are slightly off frequency
If your receiver sat even 90 Hz away from the signal, Ham Imaging read the picture's header as noise and refused to identify the mode — so Auto (VIS) failed on transmissions that decoded perfectly well if you chose the mode by hand. It now measures how far off the signal is and reads the header relative to that. Nothing changes for stations that are already spot on.
 
The tuning meter now tells you the truth
The little level bar was on a linear scale, so a strong, perfectly decodable signal moved it barely a fifth of the way and the "too hot" warning could never appear at all. That is backwards advice: a dead-looking meter invites turning the volume up, and too much volume is exactly what stops a picture decoding. The bar is now on a proper audio (decibel) scale — a good signal sits high, a quiet one is still clearly visible, and if the input really is too loud the bar turns red so you know to turn it down.
