Then, when I wanted to get my General I knew that I could rely on Roy Watson’s test prep material so that I could practice while I commuted. Thank you Roy, for making these apps free and accessible for all! ### 5/5 — Invaluable Tool *2018-01-20* This app helped me pass the Extra Class exam on the first try. I went through all the section quizzes and took a bunch of sample exams. The app was easy to use. If you haven’t studied the material, this app probably won’t help much as it is designed to test you on the material. Having said that, since all of the exam questions are published, you can use this tool to memorize the answers for the sections you may not know. Next is using it to complete my Extra class license. The interface and feedback in this app is unsurpassed. Below is my review of the General class app (the interface is the same). This series of apps is brilliantly done. The interface is clean and intuitive, and provides good feedback to the user. I had my Technician class license for a number of years and decided it was time to upgrade to the General class. I downloaded this app and tried some practice exams and initially scored in the 60's. Then I read ARRL General Class License Manual and my scores improved with each chapter I read. When I was done with the book, I was scoring in the mid-80's. I then kept taking practice exams and reviewing the questions I missed until I was scoring in the 90's. When I took my General exam, I only missed 1 question. After studying all three for about one month I took and passed all three tests in one sitting. This app, combined with a bit of web searching, (and head scratching) will prepare you for the tests. One-day Extra. *2014-12-28, version 1.0* I used all three apps and passed elements 2, 3 and 4 in a single sitting to get one-day extra license. This is a huge privacy violation. The question is, did the developer do this on purpose or is it just a side effect of including the Ad network? **Developer response:** That was a result of the AdMob advertising SDK. The only thing I wish was different is that in the recommended questions area, selecting the question does nothing. It would be very helpful to have it open up the question instead of having to navigate back and open up the question elsewhere. Great job though - this would be a solid BUY if it was a paid app! ### 4/5 — Question E2B03 Error *2017-01-19* Interlacing is the alternating of odd numbered and even numbered panels, but this question does not accept a correct answer. This is the only question I have found with such a problem. ### 4/5 — Stuck *2016-07-17, version 1.3.2* Question E2B03 has no answer selected, and I can't get past it for the study the answer section. ### 4/5 — Helps a lot, a few flaws *2016-07-07, version 1.3.2* I used the technician and general apps to study and passed them both! Very useful. A few bugs: 1) I had to delete and re-download the app to get the 2016-2020 question pool. Regular updating didn't do it. 2) some questions are so long in some modes that they can't be displayed fully and scrolling won't work. It's not in the testing mode -- one of the study modes 3) if I mistakenly try to scroll a question that is not scrollable it takes that touch as an answer. Would like it to ignore touches as answers if I move my finger. The way buttons in OSX work. Thanks to you for this great service to the amateur community! These helped me get my general license and now going for my Extra. Although a lot of these apps are similar I find these to be the more straightforward and easy to use. ### 5/5 — Passed all three of my licenses classes using these apps *2024-05-05* I used all 3 of the HRE apps for Technician, General and Extra class, this app is convenient being able to study from a phone during free time. Easy to practice any time I have a few minutes since they are on my phone. My only issue is that the dark blue headers used at the end of the tests are too dark for black print. I’d consider either lightening the blue background or switch to white print. ### 5/5 — Amazing app *2023-08-08* I’ve been using this app for about a week and it seems to be the best studying and testing tool out there. One issue I noticed when I upgraded the app was when I take you take a sample exam I can’t read the results. It says you scored XX% by scoring…. This shows up dark green text on a royal blue background. Before the upgrade I believe it was red on white background. I love the reporting features and how it keeps track of results and missed questions by group or by question. ### 5/5 — Excellent Practice Exam Functionality! *2022-07-21* I used the Tech and General versions and passed. Now studying for Extra. Practice exams are great because instant feedback helps avoid memorizing wrong answers by repeating the same errors. ### 5/5 — New Question Pool 7/1/20 this app expired 6/30/20 *2020-10-14, version 1.4.1* UPDATE... I was concerned when the app didn’t switch to the new question pool on 7/1/20 but after a few days or maybe a week it did. I began using it for practice. I’ve used all three license class apps now. Passed the Tech at the end of February, the General in Mid-March and because of Covid-19, the June testing session was cancelled. In mid-September I passed the Extra.
