## What is Hamdam?

A verse for the way today feels. A fal when you need one.
 
Hamdam is a quiet daily companion, grounded in nine hundred years of Persian poetry. It meets you with a sky that fits the hour. Tell it how your heart feels on a simple slider and it offers a verse and a reflection chosen for that feeling, drawn from Hafez, Rumi, Saadi, Khayyam and Parvin Etesami. Every verse appears in the original Persian beside an English translation.
 
THE VERSE AND THE VOICE
 
Five hundred verses from the five poets, yours from day one. Open reading mode and the whole poem unfolds around the line you were given, in Persian and in English, its themes named beneath it. Many verses can be heard as well as read, in the voice of a Persian reciter, credited on the verse.
 
FAL E HAFEZ
 
Ask the Divan a question the way generations have, and a full ghazal answers you. It explains itself, and asks you to type nothing.
 
ROOTS
 
Your calendar remembers. The Iranian calendar lives beside the Gregorian one, and Yalda, Nowruz, Chaharshanbe Suri, Mehregan and Sizdah Bedar arrive with poetry that belongs to them. If your roots lie elsewhere, Roots follows them there, and the days your own home keeps arrive with the same care.
 
THE GARDEN

Voice of the Elder brings real human recitation to the verses, from readers who have given their voices to the Divan.

The faal opens a whole page of the Divan rather than a single couplet, so you can read around the line you drew.

A Persian calendar you can live by. Shamsi and Gregorian sit together in the grid, official holidays and commemoration days are marked, and the Shamsi date can live on your home and lock screens.

Reading mode is quiet and free of chrome. Pinch to set the size, and Hamdam remembers where you left off.

Also in this version: a Persian font picker with Vazirmatn, seasonal app icons for Nowruz and Yalda, Iranian cinema in Discover, and a favourites notebook grouped by month.

Today now opens onto a place you are connected to, at the right hour, in the weather that is actually outside. The sky is drawn live: cloud drifts, rain and snow fall in depth, lightning carries through a storm. Reduce Motion and Low Power Mode settle it into a single still frame.

**A FULL CALENDAR IN ROOTS**
Day, week, month and year. Search across your events, your reflections and cultural moments. Create, edit and delete your own Hamdam events. Jump to any date. In Farsi, months and years follow the Solar Hijri calendar, and Iran's public holidays are included.

**ROOTS FOLLOWS YOUR OWN HERITAGE
The moments, symbols and photographs that belong to where you are from. Several moments now open into real depth instead of a placeholder, and the lives of the five poets are free for everyone.

**HAMDAM ON YOUR WRIST
Your sky, your inner weather, Your Journey and Roots on Apple Watch. You can now write a reflection from your wrist, and it arrives on your iPhone.

**AN OPENING NOTE**
A struck santur phrase under the wordmark when Hamdam opens. It respects your ring/silent switch and stays quiet when something else is already playing. You can turn it off in Settings, under Content.
