### 4/5 — Nice app for hammock newbies

*2018-11-30, version 3.0.0*

Simple and easily understood interface providing useful guidance in planning your hang. Love the book and the website and the app is useful to have when off grid and planning to hang. Thanks, Derek!

### 4/5 — Finally works!

*2018-11-25, version 3.0.0*

When this “improvement” first appeared, it seemed a backspace key was missing from the number pad used for changing default values. Maybe it was an Apple system fix, or maybe it was an App fix (though nothing is mentioned in version history); there is now a backspace key so numbers can be changed - Yaaaa!

Some may prefer the older graphics that showed all the numbers at once. But there is definitely new functionality. For example, you can lock certain values like ridge line length and distance between “trees” (anchor point) or anchor point above ground. That last number is useful to lock because at home, the an hour height and distance may be fixed.

You can also change the hang angle continuously rather than in one or two steps in the older version.

We now have all the functionality of the earlier version, plus more. It just takes getting familiar with the new graphics.

### 3/5 — Old version was better

*2018-05-21*

I liked how the old version let you see all Calc. With having to tap on them...
Also where did the angle measurement go... ? The old app let you use your phone to measure the angle....

### 1/5 — What happened to the inclometer?

*2018-05-02, version 3.0.0*

What happened to the inclometer?

### 2/5 — Older version was MUCH better

*2018-05-01, version 3.0.0*

Where’s the clinometer?? That was one of the most helpful parts of the entire app. Not intuitive at all anymore.
UPDATE: Other reviews gave impression new version had clinometer, so my assumption was that I was somehow missing it. What’s currently there is fine and works well, but no clinometer is disappointing... Like serving up spaghetti and meatballs with no tomato sauce. Add the clinometer to this and it’s a 5-Star app IMO.

### 1/5 — Prior version was better

*2018-05-01, version 3.0.0*

Basically does the same as the prior version but clinometer is missing (i know didn’t make this release). Don’t like how you have to tap on each point to get that specific data. Prior version had all data points displayed.

Don’t get the rush to release when all isn’t ready. This update IMO is a major step back. Prior version was much better.

### 1/5 — I hate the new setup

*2018-04-30, version 3.0.0*

I hate it. You had a wonderful app. It was extremely easy to use. Now is complicated. I miss the climometer. The old diagrams were easy to understand. I’ll most likely be deleting this app. Very disappointed.

### 3/5 — Good but missing something

*2018-04-29, version 3.0.0*

Where is the clin-o-meter in the new update? I think this is a great tool.

### 2/5 — IOS 11.3 and iPhone 7+ Clinometer Fails

*2018-04-12, version 2.1.3*

When it is installed, the Clinometer works until I go to the application’s other screen. When I attempt to use the Clinometer again, it won’t work. If I delete an reinstall the application, it will again only work the first time the Clinometer is used.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2017-09-01, version 2.1.3*

Bought this thinking that it would help
But then I realized I could just hang my hammock, and adjust it until I got it right
The app is confusing and hard to use

### 4/5 — Works well. Improved my setup

*2017-08-28, version 2.1.3*

Please, please, please change the font color in the settings page. Black font on dark background is almost unusable. Thanks

### 1/5 — Fake/spam app

*2017-07-15, version 2.1.3*

I bought this to figure out my hang height because that's what you need to really know to get your angle right. Guess what it don't give any info on anything

### 3/5 — Good and bad

*2017-07-08, version 2.1.3*

So I bought this specifically for figuring out the 30° angle. I'm relatively new to hammocks but have loved them all my life. I have one on a stand in my backyard and I want to hang one in my home office and also take it with me camping, hiking etc.

So, step in first the website then the app.

Good thing: the app works in airplane mode! I bought it hoping it would since the description did not say. Yet, one of my favorite local county parks has zero reception so I needed the app to work without internet access. Awesome! It does.

Bad: it has an angle hang option but it doesn't explain how to use it. Which direction do I hold my phone? Vertical! Horizontal? Am I holding it against the rope? The tree, post, or wall? I am mathatically challenged 🤔. It just is not intuitive to me. I need to be told what and how to measure for the elusive 30° hang. A set of simple instructions would make all difference for using this one option. Maybe a photo or diagram?

Uncertain: newer hammocks have straps with carabiner hooks sewn on rather than long lead line ropes, I'm not sure how to adjust for that.

I can say my husband will be thrilled with the load weight because he tends to over-engineer anything his family might be hanging from (swings, hammocks, hanging chairs) for their safety. He will be very happy to see that when purchasing the correct hardware for hanging in my office. I'm sure where the hanging chair is in my office, it's engineered to hold probably the entire family. 💗

### 3/5 — Update the App!

*2017-06-17, version 2.0.1*

I keep getting messages that says the App needs to be updated and will stop functioning at next iOS level. Please update!

### 3/5 — Still incomplete

*2016-08-09, version 2.0.1*

Does the job is you are trying to figure your anchor point, but as another reviewer noted, it CAN'T calculate your suspension needed if you have a known fixed anchor height.

Also, it let's you swap between metric or Imperial ("English") measurement styles, but bizarrely forces you to use decimal style feet instead of using feet and inches (14.6 is not 14'6" which is 14.5). Since all this app really does is a single math formula for you, forcing you to do some of the math before input is unfriendly.

Simple to add that, but this app has not been updated in a long time. It's pretty, though, and if you avoid its limitations, does its job, albeit in a rather overpriced way.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Step back

*2018-09-16, version 3.0.0*

I don’t know why you abandoned the old app. You should go back to it and charge if you have too. It was complete and worked great. Now have to have another app. to find angle.

### 1/5 — Returns/ Refunds?

*2018-08-05, version 3.0.0*

How are app refunds processed?? The app is not what I am looking for.

### 1/5 — Clinometer gone

*2018-05-24, version 3.0.0*

Used this app when i first started hanging. Still busted it out from time to time to do a sanity check on my suspension angle. The redesign i too busy and the clinometer is gone. Why push through an update that removes one of the most useful features? Just wait until everything is ready.

### 1/5 — Useful to Useless

*2018-05-22, version 3.0.0*

This app went from being very useful to totally useless with the new update.

### 1/5 — Used to love this app, now it’s all but useless

*2018-05-14, version 3.0.0*

I used to absolutely love this app for checking my hang angle. With the latest update there is no longer a clinometer included in the tools (or if there is, there’s nowhere I’ve been able to find it). This makes the app utterly useless. Luckily my compass has a clinometer, but bring back the old tools! I want to be able to lock in my current hang angle and see the forces again!

### 1/5 — Disappointed user

*2018-05-12, version 3.0.0*

The app has been oversimplified and is actually hard to use ,please go back to the original! The original app had a nice feature of which you could use your IPhone like a protractor and watch the forces change as you rotated your iPhone

### 1/5 — Latest version, don’t like it

*2018-05-10, version 3.0.0*

Just got the newest version of the app (had been using the app for over a year) and I think this version is more difficult to use and not user friendly.

For one the angle calculator is removed. I know I can use the iPhone built in tool, but that requires flipping apps, not good.

The input screen is not as intuitive in my opinion. Also in real life I know the distance, the weight, seat height but want to know how high up to attaché to trees. I do not know the angle, but know I can’t hang over 6 feet, which in longer distance between trees, in need the angle to “float” then I look at the cord tension to see if I’m still OK. This version of app does not allow that.

Can I get older version back?

### 1/5 — Please bring back old version

*2018-05-05, version 3.0.0*

Please bring back the older version that showed everything on the page without having to click on the individual arrows.

Also was a little bummed about the missing angle meter. Fortunately the internal phone compass showed me.

Why the changes?

### 1/5 — Old App was much better

*2018-05-04, version 3.0.0*

Do not like the purple color. Try using a neutral color or keeping the old color scheme. Don’t like the fact that you have to click on each section to see the calculation results. The old one showed all the results at the same time. Don’t like the fact that you removed the angle finder. I saw that you are planning on adding it back in but I would have not updated if I knew this. Great disappointment. Sorry. The old one was quick and to the point.

### 1/5 — Hammock hang calculator

*2018-05-04*

The new version 3 doesn’t seem to work as well as the previous version and has less useful features. The touch controls are unresponsive and the only reason I purchased the app was for the inclination meter feature, which appears to have been removed. Wish I could get back the version I bought or get my money back.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Just an idea

*2018-05-01, version 3.0.0*

In the settings bit, it would be great to have a drop down list of popular hammocks with the dimensions etc already entered etc.

A great app that just gets better - love the new book too!

### 5/5 — Cline-o-meter in update?

*2018-05-01, version 3.0.0*

Love the app, but after the update is there any way to measure the suspension angel like the previous version?

### 5/5 — Clear, easy to understand hammock tool

*2017-06-20, version 2.1.3*

Love this app, does one thing and does it very well. No more guessing on the proper hang for your hammock. Nice job!

### 5/5 — Happy to have found this!

*2017-02-07, version 2.0.1*

You have absolutely perfected this! I now hang in my room full time. Thanks!

*2014-09-03, version 2.0.1*

I think it's awesome that the author has this app to follow up with the book the two together are awesome

### 5/5 — It works great!

*2014-04-27, version 2.0.1*

I have a double nest eno, and before I was hanging it up in my room with no room in it. Once I did this, I have enough room and comfort to really fit two people in it.

### 5/5 — Slick app for dialing in that ultimate hang

*2012-05-05, version 1.0*

### 5/5 — Another great contribution to the Hammock Hanger Community

*2012-05-03, version 1.0*

First it was the Ultimate Hang book and now a great visual tool for the Hammock Hanger Community.

### 4/5 — Great app but....

*2019-05-12, version 3.0.0*

Great app to help set up your hammock for repeatable great nights of sleep. I do prefer the older app which gave you an inclinometer to calculate your angle of hang.
