### 2/5 — Barely Two Stars

*2018-05-21, version 3.0*

This app is terrible. It will not connect to a blue tooth device even when said device is connected to your phone. It crashes every time you make a band change. It disconnects every ten seconds claiming network problems. I’m glad I did not give them any money. One day on the free trial and I’m done. Deleting this app.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work. At all.

*2018-03-02, version 3.0*

I’ve tried repeatedly to log in and it has never connected. Constant network errors and unable to contact HamSphere servers.
Total waste of time and waste of money. Utter garbage.

### 1/5 — Used for Obtain Email TERRIBLE

*2017-12-21, version 3.0*

This app tells me that my legal identification does not exist, and only obtain my mail for spam purpuses i think.
Terrible!!!!

### 1/5 — Not worth money

*2017-12-21, version 3.0*

It’s kind of fun but not worth any money

### 1/5 — Garbage, Don't Wast Your Time!

*2017-09-11, version 1.0.0*

I'm an extra and have been a ham for over 19 years. It does not even recognize the call sign to activate account. Ain't wast your time!

### 1/5 — Does not accept ATT email addy

*2017-09-10, version 1.0.0*

Why is att blocking you? For no reason is not an answer. Figure it out.

### 1/5 — Sad State

*2017-01-19, version 1.0.0*

This application promised so much and delivered so little. Constantly crashes current versions of iOS.

Developer, please update this application.

### 1/5 — Unresponsive.

*2016-12-09, version 1.0.0*

After install I got a warning message saying this app may slow down your iPhone, the developer needs to update the app. Was able to create an account through the app but trying to login was a no go. Hit the login button every which way I could, rebooted tried again. Nada.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2016-12-01, version 1.0.0*

This app stinks do not buy or install the app again it doesn't work 😡😡😡😡

### 1/5 — Don't Waste Your Time

*2016-06-03, version 1.0.0*

I couldn't even get started with this app. When I tried to create an account, the response I kept getting was "Call sign not found." I've had the call sign for almost five years.

### 1/5 — Nothing but errors

*2016-04-09, version 1.0.0*

Nothing but errors and disconnect. Uninstalled.

### 1/5 — VoIP

*2016-02-05, version 1.0.0*

This app stinks big time don't waste your money or time on this app if your a licensed ham radio operator then the way to go is irlp or echolink for voip way cheaper and better

### 1/5 — Misleading at best

*2016-01-17, version 1.0.0*

It's not radio, and although the website does say that, it is misleading to use a name that implies it is. I don't see the value and for those interested in becoming a licensed amateur, I'd suggest instead that you get a shortwave or good ham radio and LISTEN for awhile.

### 1/5 — KF7ZR

*2015-10-20, version 1.0.0*

What's the "pin" you need to let me operate this app?? Thought I jumped thru all the hoops. 😁😩

### 1/5 — iOS app needs work

*2015-07-12, version 1.0.0*

Crashes constantly after a few seconds. Desktop app is fine but iOS, not so much.

### 1/5 — Not for me and not ham radio!

*2014-10-26, version 1.0.0*

Has ham radio look, but its not ham radio! You have non licensed hams dominating the program. You have bully and controlling administrators that like to dictate to you what conversations you can and can not have.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2022-11-02, version 3.0*

Costs too much money. Not even real radio. I was expecting it to be on par with real ham radio but not even close. Also, they listen in on your conversation and they would block you if you talk about something that they deem is inappropriate, and it is not even the case. Don’t bother with this make believe crap. Get a real radio.

### 1/5 — Network Problems Disconnected

*2022-08-25, version 3.0*

It looks good but after 10 seconds I get an error saying ‘Network Problems Disconnected. I’ve downloaded my version ‘IPhone 8-plus with a 5g connection. Not sure what to do.

### 1/5 — Do not sign up for a subscription

*2021-09-19, version 3.0*

You will never be able to cancel. I signed up in 2012 and canceled my subscription. In 2021 I received notification from PayPal that I paid for this subscription again but I did not authorize it. I disputed with Paypal but they sided with this company. I then asked for a refund from the company explaining I haven’t used this product since 2012. They said I must produce a cancellation ticket. I told them I don’t have it. They told me to take responsibility and admit I never cancelled the product. They also told me that they have written off the interest. Interest??
I told them to send me log in info so I can go in and cancel. I am still awaiting the info.
Horrible customer service!!!!! Use at your own risk.

### 1/5 — Not worth the money

*2021-01-22, version 3.0*

Not worth the money.
Not true ham radio.

### 1/5 — DONT PURCHASE SUBSCRIPTION

*2020-06-26, version 3.0*

This app was wayyyy better about 4 years ago. Completely not worth it anymore. No ones ever really on it. It’s worth the free trial to play for a few day’s but that’s it. SHOULD ONLY BE A ONE TIME PAYMENT NOT SUBSCRIPTION. It’s a rip off. Not to mention the fact as an actual licensed ham operator this is not on real ham bands. It’s simulated to act like it which was cool. But don’t be fooled this is not real HAM BAND frequencies.

### 1/5 — Ridiculous. Need for a license. Y?

*2020-02-06, version 3.0*

This should just be for enthusiast. Not sure why you need a license. Everything is artificial HF. Unnecessary deterioration of communication. HF Ham operators are actually doing the complete opposite of what this app is doing. In every way possible. Long distance clear signals and propagation with out the any digital connections.

### 1/5 — Buyer Beware

*2019-11-30, version 3.0*

Subscription. Read the fine print so u don’t get ripped off

Auto Renew

So ur credit card continues To be billed

Customer service is the worse. Will not return ur money when they bill for unwanted subscription

Lucky for me. My credit card protected me

### 1/5 — No customer service to correct country error

*2018-05-30, version 3.0*

Like a lot of amateur radio operators, I hold US extra certification, yet I step into Canada and the IP address being Canadian shuts the app... I have written multiple emails to their support without any human (or intelligible) response. I am sure I’m not the only person attempting to use this app that is in countries other than their home/licensed country. I’m just glad I discovered this glitch before shelling $$$

### 1/5 — Needs more work

*2018-05-18, version 3.0*

Does not use US band limits..

### 1/5 — Crap

*2018-05-06, version 3.0*

Does not recognize my callsign. Pathetic, I’ve been a ham 25 years you think they would update the database.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2014-12-28, version 1.0.0*

This is a good app which functions well. I have it on my iPhone, iPad Mini, and MacBook Pro.
Also have the newer version 4.0 on my MacBook. No... It's not REAL radio, nor does the developer claim it is. It's a simulation which is not only a wee bit more fun than Skype or similar apps, but can also teach Ham operations and Ham courtesy to newcomers
before they get their Ticket and get on the REAL airways. For those naysayers that begrudge the developer the yearly subscription fee..how much do they think Servers and bandwidth cost. Finally, yes non hams can use it. That's fantastic! They are overwhelmingly courteous, and the app gets many on the road to getting their Ticket. That's how it worked with me!

### 5/5 — Best app for SW & Hams

*2013-12-29, version 1.0.0*

Didn't work on latest version (5.0) on my iPhone but does GREAT on my iPad! I appreciate the trial version before making purchase so that I could find the right hardware fit for it.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2013-01-18, version 1.0.0*

This is one awesome app

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2012-10-28, version 1.0.0*

I checked iTunes Store day 2 day until this morning ! Great , Excellent and any amateur radio must test it to believe . Good voice quality , beautiful panel , fast run and .. . In the begining , before sign in that's better to show the panel ,because of if you have not network you can't see anything and the program (app.) don't run and only appear then disappear ! So that's better to add another feature to this nice app .
Have a good QSO !
Thanks to Kelly 5B4AIT , 73 .

### 5/5 — Great App

*2012-10-28, version 1.0.0*

Well we have been waiting for a while to get Hamsphere on idevices . A great app that gives you the chance to try the joy of radio ham , talking to new ppl from all over the world who share the same enthusiasm about the radio .

### 4/5 — Clunky but works!

*2017-11-14, version 3.0*

Room for improvement but it does work. Just had QSO from Fl to upper NY on 40 meters! 5/9 report on both sides!

### 4/5 — It's ok

*2017-04-10, version 1.0.0*

It's a bit weird to learn at first but it kinda works

### 3/5 — Costs WAY too much.

*2017-10-25, version 3.0*

It’s moderately interesting. Of course it isn’t real radio. That claim is never made. This is as much of real amateur radio as a flight simulator is flying a real plane. It is make-believe. It’s all VoIP. No RF is going out anywhere. Yet, it could be fun, entertaining, and even educational. I haven’t played with it on my computer (Mac), but just my iDevices. The potential is there. Some of the unlicensed “radio enthusiasts” do take it a little WAAAY too seriously. A lot of folks seem to be mainly just interested in accumulating as many virtual QSL cards as possible. Virtual QSL cards seems to be a type of way to keep a “score”. I did have a few interesting “contacts” and participated in a few nets though. My biggest complaint, however, is the costs. I could see a reasonable annual subscription rate, but not what HamSphere is asking. THEN they want you to buy virtual equipment! You have to be joking. Sorry, if I’m buying gear, I’m buying REAL hardware not virtual “make-believe” stuff. Again, the potential is there. Someone new to radio could potentially learn operating procedures and conventions, but the pricing model is ridiculous. You’d be better off just LISTENING in on web SDR’s for a while which is REAL amateur radio and completely FREE. As for the software itself, expect frequent network disconnects and app crashes because it isn’t fully baked yet.
