### 3/5 — Impossible

*2026-07-08, version 1.6.2*

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great hanafuda game, however I might have a feeling that in Normal mode, the AI opponent is tweaked. What I mean is for example, when I start a match, no matter what, if I have a pine card, it always ends up with a crane in their hands. If I have a cherry blossom, It Always ends with the curtain. When I have a susuki grass card, It Always Has A Moon In Its Hands! No matter what, no matter what kind of combination I attempt, it’s tweaked, Almost as if it’s cheated to have more light cards than the opponent. The Game is good, the bots are suspicious. P.s- here’s your stars

### 4/5 — Fun but missing a few quality-of-life features

*2025-05-21, version 1.6.2*

In particular: 1. I'd like to be able to review what cards have been scored while deciding whether to "koi-koi" or "stop." and 2. When I touch a card in my hand and begin to drag it, I'd like to be able to return it to my hand if I change my mind about which card I want to play. (Right now it often plays the card even if I drag it back to my hand area.)

### 3/5 — It’s Ok

*2024-12-23, version 1.5*

Great implementation, but the advertisements are very aggressive for such a short game, and they occasionally break and force you to restart your game.

### 3/5 — Too much adds

*2024-05-15, version 1.5*

Too much adds

### 4/5 — Yaku Scoring Discrepancy

*2024-04-25*

The point values in-game are different from the ones in the rules. (E.g. the rules say goko is 10 but I got 15 for it, the rules say ameshiko is 7 but I got 8 for it)

### 4/5 — Portrait to landscape

*2022-08-14, version 1.5*

Is it possible play the game in landscape, the cards are layered very close together and you can’t see picture.
Game is good, better than other Hanafuda apps. Thank you

### 4/5 — Wish it was multiplayer game

*2021-05-16, version 1.4.4*

I’m enjoying this game. It’s worth the purchase option for no ads. Only gave it four stars because I would love it to be a multiplayer game.

### 4/5 — Almost Great

*2021-03-18, version 1.4.4*

This is a great game for playing koi koi ... if you already know how to play. All of the sets and card types are only in Japanese so if you don’t know what the sets are before you play you’re completely in the dark. The app also doesn’t rotate and the cards are so small that out can be hard to see. It’s a great game just has some accessibility problems.

### 4/5 — Nice, but too many advertisements

*2021-02-22, version 1.4.4*

With there is a way to remove advertisements, I’d pay

### 4/5 — The best— Just needs an update for newer iPhones!

*2021-02-01, version 1.4.4*

This is definitely the best free hanafuda app in the app store, hands down. However Injust got a new iPhone (the 12 mini) and the top of the game screen is currently obscured by the phone speaker while playing. Now I can’t see the computer’s score, as well as most of the other info bits at the top. Please adapt the app so the opponent’s bar is visible again!! Thank you ❤️ (Also being able to view the cards in play while determining koi koi would be fantastic.)

### 2/5 — I wanted a hanefuda game...

*2020-10-20, version 1.4.3*

... not a dexterity puzzle. It’s a small screen interface, yet the designers insisted on forcing you to swipe the selected card onto its mate. The interface is so sensitive, though, that failing to put a card precisely onto one mate when you have a selection of two often causes the card you don’t want to get matched.

Another gross shortcoming is the dialogue box that pops up when you must decide to call “koi koi” or stop. It completely obscures the game board and locks out examining cards to determine the game state. It’s another example of flawed design built into the app.

Aside from these two features, it’s an acceptable opponent when played on “hard” setting.

### 3/5 — Fun game but bad forceful commercial ads

*2020-07-21, version 1.3.2*

I’d give the game and the creation of it a 5 star but with these forceful commercials and I mean forceful because with most of them you’re forced to watch 30 seconds or more without skipping. When you’re on a short break you’re lucky to finish a set of games. The ads are long and slow and most that are advertised are nothing new so it’s boring. We should be allowed to skip through it faster.

### 4/5 — Not translated, but very good

*2020-07-19, version 1.3.2*

Pretty, not laggy, and quite functional. The highlighting of cards is useful for new players. My only complaint is that the actual yakus and in-game actions like koikoi aren’t at all translated. (A secret for you for reading this: to avoid getting ads, turn on ✈️ mode.)

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Computers love to win

*2026-08-27, version 1.6.2*

10 straight losses. Boo

### 1/5 — Barely any Fun!

*2025-03-07, version 1.6*

Too many Ads!! I can barely play ONE round without getting hit with so many ads!And good trying to listen to your music while playing. It constantly cuts it off while playing.

### 1/5 — Fun but ads ruin it

*2024-02-02, version 1.5*

Really obnoxious ads. I’d gladly pay to remove them, but not sure if you can.

### 1/5 — picking cards

*2023-04-15, version 1.5*

you can't pick which card you get if there are two cards of the same month on the table. literally a core mechanic is being able to pick which cars you get.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Restore Previous Purchases

*2023-01-29, version 1.5*

I paid to have the ads removed and since I updated the new app doesn’t allow me to remove the ads or restore my previous purchase to remove ads. Since now I’m stuck with a gazillion stupid adds.

### 1/5 — Awful ads

*2020-11-26, version 1.4.3*

Ads are often and usually last a while and obscure their close buttons. The ads are also loud and makes turning your phones audio completely off in order to at all enjoy this game

### 1/5 — I just downloaded, twice. Crashes

*2020-08-21, version 1.3.2*

The app does not last more than 3 seconds before crashing.

### 1/5 — It’s boring game ever.

*2020-08-12, version 1.3.2*

Just boring and waisting time with this game.

### 2/5 — Too many ads

*2022-03-08, version 1.5*

I really enjoyed the game, but there are so many ads that you can’t get through one set without watching 4 to 6 ads. Kind of frustrating.

### 2/5 — Opponent on hard

*2021-05-19, version 1.4.4*

Opponent on hard will never koi-koi…when scoring on the first hand or to keep from losing on the last hand. That’s not an opponent it’s just a scoring machine…get points and stop. Uninstalling.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — 10/10 would recommend

*2026-01-18, version 1.6.2*

This game is absolutely amazing and you’re able to play it without any Wi-Fi. I would 100% recommend to any of my friends extremely fun game and it helps me relax

### 5/5 — Been playing this for years

*2024-07-17, version 1.5*

Excellent game; the AI is well coded. I love the card designs and the shuffling/playing animations. I highly recommend this if you’re looking to turn your brain off for a little while, as you can even change the length of the games as well.

### 5/5 — Useful for learning how to play koi-koi

*2023-09-14, version 1.5*

Wish it was online or two player as it has been noted in other reviews, but also finally feel like I’m picking up how to play koi-koi after using other apps and reading a book to describe gameplay. I really enjoy how the app separates out your captures as you go along and highlights what yaku is possible and what yaku you are close to attaining. Like other reviewers have said, I wish the koi-koi decision screen was moved slightly out of the way when trying to decide if you can score again before choosing to koi-koi or not! I know this app is older but I think there’s a lot of use here still to be gotten out of this.

### 5/5 — 史上最高のゲーム！

*2021-03-23, version 1.4.4*

私は東京の日本に住んでいて、いつもこのゲームをしています！ とても楽しいし、ちなみに私は子供です。 とにかく私はこの完璧なゲームが大好きです！

### 5/5 — Good game

*2021-02-20, version 1.4.4*

I played this game a year ago but I stopped playing it because the ads were getting annoying but when I came back to the app I found the remove ads feature but I also noticed the music wasn’t working I tried checking to see if my device wasn’t muted I am muted my device and still heard no music but still the game was good OK never mind might BGM was off

### 5/5 — Great way to learn

*2020-10-25, version 1.4.3*

This game is an excellent way to lear koi koi. The rules are very clear and helpful. I definitely want to buy some real cards now.

### 5/5 — Very Good

*2020-08-14, version 1.3.2*

It does the job and it’s free, I won’t complain

### 5/5 — Easy to pick up!

*2020-07-06, version 1.2.1*

This game is awesome! I had just learned how to play but wanted to get extra practice. Straight forward and has super short ads. Pluses for it being free

### 5/5 — Best Free Single-player Hanafuda

*2019-07-30, version 1.2.1*

This game is easily the best free Hanafuda game on the App Store. The only thing it is lacking is a multiplayer feature. An online multiplayer would be ideal but also a pass and play, or local multiplayer function would be great too. Overall though it is a very fun game definitely worth downloading.

### 5/5 — 言語切り替えに参加可能

*2019-03-31, version 1.2.1*

english only ?
