## What is Handpan (by Jacob Cole)?

Try out one of the handpans used to create Jacob Cole's debut album, Destiny, available now on iTunes!  

The handpan is a new generation of hand hammered steel instruments which came from the original inspiration called the Hang, invented in Switzerland in 2000.  Handpans are now handmade all over the world, but they are still very new and rare.  They are tuned in different scales and are great for meditation & yoga.

This seems to be a really cool app. I was hoping to conveniently tap around a few melodies that I could bring back to my instrument. But my drum is in D flat, so the notes don’t line up.

At first I gave this a one star review because I did not hear any sound. Only to find out that my phone was on silent mode that little hidden button on the left-hand side of your iPhone. Make sure it is not in silent mode.

I didn’t hear anything at first, like it wasn’t working. But then I closed out of the app a few times and opened it, and put it headphones, it finally started making sound. So yeah it’s good if you might want to get a Handpan and just want to play around with one and get to know how they work. So then if you DO find yourself in the presence of a real one, you won’t be totally lost. The notes help too.

I’m not here to write handspan songs, so I think for wha it is it’s great and my 2 year old son likes it too. Kind of which you could have alternate tunings but that’s fine. The color changing feature for very time you tap it is nifty but very overwhelming when you play fast or my son spams the screen. Otherwise I love the sound and the ease of playing.

This would be a wonderful recording tool as well.
Could you please offer AUV3 or Inter-App  support.

Sounds good, but needs to fix the click when a note/sample is triggered twice in succession.

It’s a great app. You can get lost in time with it. I tried syncing it to my JBL  Bluetooth and I noticed that, when synced with something.  It have a lag/ it’s annoying because you can’t make a good tune due to the lag. It’s hard to even adjust so prepare to just hear it through your phone speakers if you want accuracy. Other than that, great App.
