This app is a real navigation tool designed for outdoors sports like hiking, bushwalking, mountain biking, kayaking and trail riding. It allows you to work in UTM or lat/lon coordinates.

Features:

* View your current location in UTM or Lat/Lon formats.
* Record and/or manually enter waypoints in UTM, Lat/Lon, or MGRS.
* Goto a waypoint, with optional audio proximity alarm and spoken directions.
* Record a track log.
* Show your current location, waypoints and tracklogs on a map.
* Export waypoints and tracklogs to a KML file for viewing in Google Earth, or to a GPX file.
* Export waypoints to a comma delimited (CSV) text file.
* Import KML or GPX files and view in the app.
* Email your current location to a friend.
* Odometer to keep track of how far you've gone.

* Elevation profile.
* Compute sun and moon rise and set times.
* Supports both metric and US/imperial units.

* Can display your location a normal grid ref, an MGRS grid ref (WGS84 datum only), or as a UK Ordinance Survey (OS) grid ref.
* Can download offline map tiles for use where there is no cellular coverage.
* Can import pre-prepared state or country-level base maps from a zip file.
* Optional walk timer.
* Email your current waypoints and tracklogs as a KML file.
* Take photos from within the app to be stored with the current session.

Disclaimer: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. To save battery power you can close the app from the task manager. The developer accepts no responsibility for you getting lost while using this app.

Have used Handy on an Android and it works well and is a great app. However, on iOS I simply cannot get the app to show up in my “location services” thus rendering it completely useless on iOS. It’s a shame because my preference would e been to continue using Handy over other similar apps

This is my 2nd review about this app. There was some problem which caused the app to crash. So I wrote it in my previous review, and the developer was very helpful to solve the problem as soon as he can (within few hours). Now everything is running fine in this app. Thanks to the developer.

Found the app from a friend. Have been using it for three years hunting and trapping. Cannot go without it ! Have pasted it on to my friends. Superb. Easy to use , accurate, and all the info I want. Northern Alberta bush.

This is a great app lets you view and log your position and speed in multiple Coordinate systems i.e. Lat&Long or a gridded Northing and Easting. It even supports custom CRS's which is useful if your maps or other data are in an obscure coordinate system. Would be great if you could export waypoints via emails, but currently just have to download via iTunes.

**Developer response:** HandyGPS now has an option on the main page menu called "Email current data" which will send all the data currently loaded in the app as a KML file attached to an email.

There are lots of GPS Apps. This one proved the most useful for capturing tracks and waypoints and then sharing this information with other users. Excellent support.

Very easy to use. Great to have UTM and eastings/northings for use with a topographic map. Trying to see if I can avoid carrying a phone and a dedicated separate GPS. Only recommend intermittent use to avoid drain on battery.

This is great, turns your phone into a simple, fast and light-weight GPS. There are tons of features, without it being a bloatly mess. Been using for a while and have found it super useful on a number of occaisions! The import KML feature is great. Just be careful with your battery life. Also, the developer is very polite and receptive to feedback.
