### 2/5 — Please fix the interface

*2022-01-09, version 1.177*

So I think this is a neat app, but I typed in my email address incorrectly and couldn’t change it.

### 1/5 — Disgusting

*2021-12-11, version 1.177*

So, Hapi are exploiting listeners who work for FREEE to profit off lonely sad people who desperately need to talk to someone

### 1/5 — Poor service

*2021-12-05, version 1.177*

I’ve contacted customer service several times with no response.

### 1/5 — No response

*2021-09-17, version 1.177*

I tried doing the app put my info and nothing what a shame figure it be a good app 👎👎

### 1/5 — Waste of time if you’re hoping to get hired

*2021-03-27, version 1.157*

I’ve been waiting for months to hear back but my application is still in a review.

### 1/5 — Have not heard anything back

*2021-02-04, version 1.150*

Hello I signed up for this app two weeks ago and my account is still being under review can some one help me??

### 2/5 — Don’t waste your time; they don’t follow up

*2020-05-24, version 1.81*

Both myself, my mom and my good friend signed up to be Hapi Listeners. The app said they would follow up in 1-2 weeks. Well, that was two months ago. Not any of us ever got a follow up.
Very disappointing and frustrating.
My advice, don’t waste your time applying unless you don’t mind them ignoring your application.

### 2/5 — Uncomfortable

*2020-05-07, version 1.66*

Rather text only because I wouldn’t want to be on call with a complete stranger right away

### 1/5 — No response

*2020-03-07, version 1.24*

Submitted application over a month ago still no response. Only says still under review. What is going on???

### 2/5 — Concerned

*2020-02-19, version 1.21*

The “listeners” are just everyday normal people. They don’t have the professional authority to be giving anyone proper advice about what to do for their mental health. If I’m getting help from someone I want it to be professional and not someone who thinks they “know” just because they’ve “gone through it too” or read a lot online. Hapi Listeners should have to go through a screening first to evaluate them to see if they are even fit to be giving out information in the first place.

### 1/5 — Listeners not receiving compensation//app glitches

*2019-12-10, version 1.11*

Hapi has three major problems to work out before I could, in good conscience, recommend becoming a paid Listener:

1. COMPENSATION: While the Listener compensation rate is abysmal (about $7/hour) and falls far below the minimum wage, I understand the company’s creative argument that Listeners do not work for the money, but rather the intrinsic reward of helping real people with real problems. This logic, while idealistic, fails its Listeners by exploiting their bleeding hearts and their time. There is a reason we have basic labor legal protections in place: they exist to protect vulnerable low income workers from being taken advantage of (let’s be real, most people working as a Hapi Listener are far from an amazing place financially) so to pay them $7/hour is straight up demoralizing and cruel.

That said, I’ve taken a few calls and felt good about helping the people (or “Talkers” as Hapi labels them) I’ve listed to; however, in more than a few of the calls, about 20-30 min in, the call time log will reset back to 0:00 and the full time I listened to my Talker is erased from the record. In nearly every call I’ve taken, the actual minutes I spent on the phone were at least double those actually logged by the app. Having very serious existing compensation issues (morally speaking) on your hands, at the very least please update our call logs to properly reflect the time spent with Talkers...so even if it’s a pithy $7/hour, we get those $7 for each hour.

2. As a Listener, you will almost always wait 30 min and often over an hour before receiving a call. Seems like Happi may have an abundance of Listeners with very few paying Talkers. I hope they can get the supply/demand thing figured out soon.

3. In more than a few instances, I have been in the middle of talking someone through an extremely heavy, emotional, crisis-fueled situation when the Hapi App, with absolutely no warning, cuts off the call. I assume the reason is as simple as the caller running out of paid minutes. When this happens, I’m left with tremendous worry for the person...in these more serious calls, it takes Talkers significant time and emotional effort to fully explain their situation and make meaningful headway with their Listener; therefore, with no way to reconnect a Talker with their original Listener, cutting off calls mid-conversation feels plain reprehensible and disgusting.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — SCAM by Better Business Bureau Rules

*2024-04-04*

The first rule the BBB states is NEVER send money or pay for anything up front without first agreeing on the outcome. They want $499 up front and not agree to provide you anything other than letting you watch a video.

Notice that the only good review is from a user named Chosethagod who supposedly makes thousands. Funny how this “reviewer” knows there’s 17,000 people just waiting for you to listen to them. I highly doubt that a regular “user” would have this info even if it were true which I’m pretty sure it’s NOT. STAY AWAY…!

### 1/5 — Unfair Pre-Employment Course Fee

*2024-01-09*

I am writing this review to express my deep concern over Hapi's pre-employment policy. It is disconcerting to see a company asking potential employees to pay nearly $500 for an 'active listening' course, with no guarantee of employment afterward. This policy is not only unjust but also discouraging for those seeking employment opportunities.

As someone who has already mastered the skill of active listening through my graduate school training, I find it absurd to pay such a significant amount to relearn a skill I already possess. The expectation that potential employees pay for training that may not result in employment is exploitative and discouraging.

While I understand the importance of employees having the necessary skills for a job, it is unreasonable to ask them to bear such a high cost, especially when there is no job security attached. It is crucial for Hapi to reconsider this policy and find a more equitable way to ensure its employees have the necessary skills.

I hope this review prompts a reevaluation of this policy and leads to changes that are fair and considerate of potential employees' circumstances.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time

*2023-07-14*

I use to be a happy listener as well for a few years. Whoever took over the company came in, deleted accounts and didn’t pay money owed. I confronted them about it & they said that now There’s a membership fee of $450 to be a listener. Oh please. They don’t even pay that good at all to be asking for that amount or money. Smh greedy!

### 1/5 — Ridiculous

*2023-04-07*

I was just on the app last week chatting with customers and I log on today and it said my account got deleted???? Like why and how? I emailed customer care and they said I have to compete a training and fork up $499 to have my account reactivated? Ridiculous

### 1/5 — These people deleted my account !

*2023-03-31*

Okay so I’m upset I loved being a listener but someone deleted my account and I got no notification of it how do you just delete someone’s account and not follow up with them smh I loved helping people and listening this is just wrong !

### 1/5 — $250???!

*2022-12-27, version 1.183*

To even get started you have to pay $250 for a course that teaches what?? And how fast after that course will you make the $250 back before any profits are made? Scam.

### 1/5 — The thing they happen to leave out of everything

*2022-12-22, version 1.183*

At not time or place does this app let you know that sure you can make some money listening to people. Yah first pay $250 to start . That's before you even make a profile. So just letting the average person looking at apps to make easyoney . There is ALWAYS A CATCH!! They should definitely let people know before you download that they charge you a fee .

### 1/5 — SCAM

*2022-06-28, version 1.177*

I entered all of my information uploaded the app and have been waiting various months. Scam to get you to download but the app is useless no action buttons or anything

### 1/5 — Won’t Ever Hear Back

*2022-03-06, version 1.177*

Go ahead and apply. If you’re like me, you won’t ever hear back. They don’t even have the decency to send you an email saying that they don’t want you but their app is all about listening. The irony.

### 1/5 — Waste of space time

*2022-02-16, version 1.177*

Downloaded and applied months ago; no response. Waste of phone space just sitting there; can’t use it. Deleted! Bye Felicia!

Great concept though so if you get it together please reach out. If definitely still interested!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Current Hapi Listener !!

*2023-04-04*

Hapi has over 17,000 applications of people who’ve expressed interest if not more up to date. I see complaints on the price of the academy when honestly anything you want to do you have to invest in for it to be fruitful. I’ve made thousands working for Hapi. Tips are great and the pay has reason due to the need of being a certified listener! The same certified I took and got a job for $32 an hr & still have Hapi as a secondary income! It’s so worth it don’t let bad reviews discourage you !

### 5/5 — Love helping others

*2021-03-28, version 1.157*

Yes it took a while for my account to be accepted, but I eventually did. And I love being a listener. Being there for others and listening to whatever they have going on is amazing feeling . I highly suggest being a listener. Everyone have a wonderful day!

### 5/5 — Read app before downloading

*2020-05-04, version 1.66*

This is for people with nobody else to talk to or turn to and everybody is not blessed to have a big family or a family at all so just talking for a hour may just make a person day ! Talking with professionals are coo but I like that some people without that degree say more of the truth then anything !! My opinion love yourself

### 5/5 — Texting

*2020-03-29, version 1.39*

They should be able text people at times because sometimes people are better expressing themself over text than talking

### 4/5 — Unclear why I have not been contacted

*2020-06-29, version 1.94*

I submitted the application several times but I can’t tell if it was submitted on the app. When I check the status it says application under review, but also has an option to complete the application.

I think this is a brilliant idea, and is needed now more than ever. For my entire life I have been told I was an excellent listener, I genuinely enjoy listening to people and learning about them. I have quite a few counselors and health professionals in my family, maybe it’s in the genes. I work from home, we all do now right? I would love to be involved in this project.

Please reach out to me. I suspect that business is either booming or its dead. I have not seen or heard anything about this app., but if it works, people should know about it.

### 3/5 — Great idea, but….

*2023-04-27*

So I stumbled on this as I was looking for random “Gig” apps to see what was out there….. this sounds like a great idea! However I was a whole lot of misinformed by the app. I expected this to be where you watch a video or two and learn great ways to help others before jumping in. Nooooo, it’s a cost effective course costing $499 before they deem you interview ready. I love the way you’re weeding out the bad ones, but sometimes the good ones might be too broke to work I guess….. it’s me. Too broke to work….

### 3/5 — Seems like it would be cool, but

*2021-01-18, version 1.148*

I’ve applied. I’ve waited. I haven’t heard back. I think Hapi and the listener app sound amazing, but I can’t tell the listening app is functioning. Emailed support over a week ago. Nothing. It’s been at least a month since I applied to be a listener. Still hopeful, but if you plan on doing this it will require patience if it works at all and I’m still questioning that since I have not heard word back from them.

### 3/5 — Unsure of reliability

*2020-06-05, version 1.89*

I downloaded the app, but was concerned about the terms of use. You aren’t guaranteed to be paid even though the app is advertised with a photo of a transaction. While I agree that it’s good to volunteer, it seems a bit misleading. Basically, Hapi isn’t responsible for anything including viruses on the app which is a smart business move, but I don’t feel comfortable with it. Fantastic idea, but I’ll pass. :)

### 3/5 — Hapi is good but not perfect

*2019-11-18, version 1.8*

Hapi is a beneficial app if you get a listener who is good at just that. I found that working with Hapi you don’t get paid enough and withdrawing the money is a pain in the butt because you have to email the company to process the payment. It’s good that they direct deposit it to your bank and it only took two days so that wasn’t that bad but it would be easier if I could just do it straight from the app. Also you can only withdrawal if you accumulated 25 dollars at least. It’s not a huge deal but it’s different. I’ve talked to a lot of great people and I know that I’ve helped many people so it feels good to be paid for that. Also sometimes the app is buggy when getting requests. Also the terms of service are scary because I think from what I read they record conversations and can even listen to them. Also they do keep a record of cookies and your information. I know they say they don’t sell your info but it’s definitely something to think about. Communicating with the company is actually easy and they respond fast. They are also helpful and quick to answer any questions or concerns. I think they are still evolving and need to make some changes but overall it’s a great app that gives you the opportunity to make money in the comfort of your own house and it gives people the opportunity to talk about anything they want and that they are actually being listened to.

### 2/5 — Ridiculous!

*2023-02-23*

I think the idea is excellent but the app appears to be just a way to get email addresses they probably make into a mailing list to sell because it's the first thing asked for when you open the app and then you are immediately told you have to pass an online certification course before you qualify. The online course is $499
