It looks like it’s barely ever updated (at the time of writing last update was 7m ago!). For example, I’ve entered my full home address and it asks me to add house name and number every time before proceeding. It then proceeds to change the post code to something different, which confuses the drivers. On many occasions they’ve called me to say they’re waiting but they are actually a couple of hundred yards down the road. The company needs to spend a bit of money on its tech and keep it current. ### 1/5 — Rip off *2021-09-09, version 40.10.4* So expensive compared to Uber. If you want to pay 30-40% more use it. Awful. ### 1/5 — App update worst thing to ever happen *2021-06-30, version 40.8.65* Happicabs recently changed there app and I’m sad to say worst thing that ever happened. It’s unclear, confusing and there never seems to be a cab around anymore the wait time is wildly inaccurate! And continues to be late! The estimation said around 11 minutes wait, however the operations cancelled our order to south woodham ferres every time. Extremely poor advertising as they advertise to reach out to this area. Will not be using the app or phone line again, neither will the local 70 people who have been trying for an hour. Extremely poor and would NOT recommend to anyone in the area ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2019-06-16, version 30.1.2* Disappointing that in a time that apps like Uber work seamlessly, ordered a cab that said 11 minutes to arrive but had a phone call to say that the app was wrong & they couldn’t get a cab for another 40 minutes! Another time on leaving the cab I get stopped by the driver accused of not paying when I had used the app, I then have to speak to the cab office who say the app paying system doesn’t actually work! Waste of time, stick to Uber or another local taxi firm! ### 1/5 — Possibly the worst app ever *2018-05-07, version 30.1.1* In an age where you get an instant communication from Uber how is having to ring up after 25 minutes to find your taxi may be another 25 is just a joke. I won't be using it again ### 1/5 — Poor unreliable service *2017-03-28, version 30.0.5* I booked a cab on this app the night before for 8:10am then shortly before got a text to show that the cab was 3.8 miles away. I rang the office and they said everywhere was gridlocked. Why didn't they call me 20mins before so I could have made alternative arrangements. In the end I walked the 2.5 miles. Rubbish service. ### 3/5 — Great idea but does it work? *2016-08-01, version 22.0.0* This app has super potential and makes getting minicabs simple and fun. However, I have used the App four times. On two occasions I had the office phone me up and tell me the cab will be x amount of time. Did I want to cancel? An hour? So you get a thrill when using the App but it's instantly crushed when you get a phone call explaining there is a delay. As I said, it has potential but I hope the service improves and there are less phone calls regarding delays. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Unreliable *2026-07-01, version 45.2602.309* Cabs constantly arrive late when you reserve a ride in advance. Regularly up to 30 mins late. They've also disabled problem reporting to make sure they don't have to bother with customer problems. Tracked the taxi via the app which was doing another job when I ordered which was fair enough but to my shock, I then watched the taxi get 2 minutes away from my house to then turn around on itself to go and attend another job on the other side of Chelmsford! I rang the office who then obviously messaged the driver to ask what was going on, the taxi then yet again turned back around on himself to finally come and pick me up. Make it make sense. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2023-06-08, version 40.2306.5* Booked cab in advance & it was still late so decided to cancel & take bus, 10 mins later I get a notification saying the driver had arrived at where I requested even though I cancelled on the app. Called their support team who told me “even though I cancelled I still may be charged”. YES, for a service that I never even got to use. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! ### 1/5 — Horrific app, use another company *2022-10-01, version 40.2204.24* Pre booked a taxi using the app an hour ahead of time. All confirmed and money taken from my account. Taxi failed to arrive and when I called the booking office the person told me that there were no taxis in my area. So basically, leaving me, my children and a trolley full of frozen food going ruined. Still waiting for taxi 25 mins later, and this is only after insisting they find a driver as I have no other way of getting home. Cannot even begin to describe how incompetent the bookings management is. If you can’t accommodate a booking confirmed by your app, call the customer to let them know - don’t leave them stranded. I was told this was all my fault as I had booked via the app not via phone. ### 1/5 — Poor app *2022-02-15, version 40.11.9* I’ve used Happicabs for years. Ordering a cab was always so easy until a couple of years ago they changed their app. It’s unfriendly and very confusing. Doesn’t let you just book a straight forward fare. Having to call instead. Driver was really friendly and efficient got me to the bus station safely and in good time.
