Every hazard has a sound. Lightning cracks across the spooky course, ice skates on arctic ponds, sprinklers hiss on the parkland, midge swarms buzz on the heathland, and desert dunes rumble as they throw your ball.

Mulligans now follow your division. The further down the ladder you are, the more do-overs you get — a helping hand while you learn the ropes, and a tighter game as you climb toward the top.

A big visual update. The course now feels lit and alive.

- Sunlight. Every round has its own sun: low and golden with long shadows, or high and bright. Trees, cacti and buildings now cast real shadows in the direction of the light.
- Weather that moves with the wind. Rain and snow lean with the breeze, mist and fog drift the way the wind blows, and clouds cast shadows that slide across the fairway.
- Landing puffs. Dust in the bunkers, clippings in the rough, a splash in the water, and the ball leaves pitch marks and skids behind it.
- Little touches. Leaves, blossom and sand on the wind, sunlight glittering on the water, and the odd flock of birds passing overhead.
- Fixes and polish throughout.

A hole new league.

SIX TIERS. From this week's new season, everyone plays in one of six tiers: Legend, Champion, Tour Pro, Club Pro, Amateur and Rookie. Your daily rounds add up over the week. The top 25% of your tier go up on Thursday, the bottom 25% go down, and your tier is the badge next to your name everywhere in the game. New players start in Rookie. Miss a whole week and you drop a tier, so play a round.

HALL OF FAME, SIMPLIFIED. One number: points for where you finish in your tier each week. Higher tiers are worth more, and every place counts.

PRACTICE. Courses is now Practice: 1,800 fixed courses to replay and beat your best. Stars, difficulty tiers and titles stay. Tap your titles to see the whole ladder.
