Sadness, stress, confusion… Sometimes it's too much to burden your friends and family with, or for some reason you just feel like you don't have anyone to talk to. This app, Happy!, Is an amazing resource. It fills the void that so many are experiencing: Human Connection. I've Been Waiting for Something Like This *2017-04-12, version 1.0.0* When I first heard about this app back in November 2016 I immediately jumped at the opportunity to become part of the team as a "Happy Giver". During the beta testing back in January 2017 I was going through a breakup and just needed someone to talk to that was outside of my situation. I spoke with two separate givers and they really helped to boost my mood and get me back on my feet. Something I broken about the payment system. ### 1/5 — Promises, promises, promises *2022-02-27, version 2.5.0* Read everything. Watched the videos. Bought into the promise, but when I finally took the leap and made my first call, crickets. No Happy Givers available. Pretty sure I didn’t see that in all the information. Disappointed. May try again. May not. Other times it’s a bunch of awkward people who are silent the entire time. Most of the time they’re not paying attention to what I say? I keep having to repeat myself over and over again. I’m glad there are some free calls, however. Everyone I’ve spoken to has been so kind, considerate, and a good listener. It’s nice to be able to talk to a stranger about anything and feel heard when you need it. I’ve also been able to get the same person a few times, which is nice for consistency. The only reason I gave this a 4 star instead of 5 is because there have been many times when no one is available to talk. You just get a message that says “No Givers Available” and need to try calling back again later. However, usually even later in the day there is no one. I’m surprised that they are unable to get more people on here to give support since that message comes up pretty frequently. ### 4/5 — Happy Go Lucky dingleberry *2020-08-07, version 2.3.3* The givers have all been so helpful. All of them are kind as well as a friend when U need one the most!! I was in bad shape and thinking dark. I thot of national hotline number. But when I wasn’t able to provide an address of my location, due to it being very late at nite, in addition to cameunfamiliar roads, I was sadly disconnected. I merely thought of happy and I called them. My favorite part is I get to choose how long I can talk. It feels good to know that I can talk until I feel better and then to assess somebody so understanding and sympathetic on the other end is just so overwhelming to me. In fact, they truly are my life saver. Thank u for thinking of me! It took me 2 months after downloading the app to actually use it. When I did, I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up talking for an hour and a half. It was a relief to talk through things going on in my life with someone who would give honest feedback with no judgement. After the call my level of stress and anxiety about certain thing had gone down tremendously. Even though it may be possible to find that support in one's own self, to find it in the voice of a stranger is a beautiful gift. And a true relief, after a long time of solely relying on myself and spirituality. I have called in several other times, and doing so has boosted my self love and sense of being supported. And someone comes along and dumps a new responsibility in your lap or fails to do their part so you suddenly have to deal with that too? Or the power goes out or your hard drive fails or you get sick or your mom has emergency surgery? Or you get a flat tire in the rain? You know how you're cruising along thinking, "This is tough but I'll manage" and suddenly you can't? Overwhelm strikes like a sledgehammer and the tears of frustration burn your overtired eyes... You pick up the phone to call a friend and remember that they're in the midst of a personal crisis of their own and you simply can't ask them to listen to your problems... this makes everything worse and you can't think of anyone to call so you feel alone and abandoned and miserable... you know those times? Happy the App is a dream come true for those moments. I had one of those recently and remembered Happy and dialed. 30 minutes later I was back in the game and had regained my confidence and sense of humor. All I really needed was to get it off my chest and hear a real person's voice who understood and cared. Of course Happy givers are great listeners when coping with ongoing life challenges too.
