See every lightning strike live on a beautiful radar map, and get warned before the storm reaches you.

LIGHTNING, LIVE ON THE MAP
- Satellite-detected lightning strikes appear right on the radar, color-coded by age (bright red for the newest, yellow as they get older), with distance rings around you and a readout that always shows the nearest strike ("within ~10 mi"). Pro members get proximity push alerts with quiet hours, delivered even when the app is closed, so your phone warns you before you hear thunder. Set your alert distance anywhere from 1 to 30 miles with a simple slider. Free users can tap the lightning layer for a short live preview of real strikes.
Lightning detection comes from the NOAA GOES satellite network covering the Americas. Distances are approximate. For awareness only: not a substitute for official warnings.

Switched from WeatherBug after the RainViewer API went down and haven't looked back. The radar pulls straight from NOAA so it's the same data the NWS uses. Lightning alerts with actual distance are a game changer when you're on the water and can't just duck inside. Worth every penny of the subscription.
