### 2/5 — Lots of glitches - wrong clues for puzzles

*2026-08-19, version 5.7.0*

I downloaded this in the hopes it would be similar to another cross logic game that I like. It had a lot of promise but the programming and accuracy of clues leaves a lot to be desired. For instance, on the casual 4x5 “Seconds Anyone?” the clues reference days of the week. The grid does not have days of the week, it has order (first, second, etc.). Deleting the app.

### 2/5 — Badly written

*2026-07-19, version 5.7.0*

The interface is good but 2 of the first 3 puzzles were written badly. There was too much information in the clues and they were not grammatically clear enough to correctly match information. There were extra variables that should have been added to a larger grid.

### 3/5 — Clues

*2026-02-23, version 5.1.6*

I don’t like that when I ask for a clue, it just says ‘mark this square false’. No explanation. I want to understand why it is false or better yet, marked related squares and so I can look at it and figure it out. But there is nothing to show why.

### 4/5 — Unhappy

*2025-10-08, version 5.1.6*

I just spent $2.99 for more puzzles but there were NO additions to the 4x6 Extreme.

### 4/5 — Solid puzzles

*2025-10-02, version 5.1.6*

They require some critical thinking!

### 4/5 — Good pricing model

*2025-06-21, version 5.1.6*

I really like that new puzzles come in packs on demand and not a subscription model. However, the price seems a bit high compared to how many puzzles you get if you purchase the magazine. Interface is great.

### 3/5 — Last Puzzle

*2025-04-27, version 4.7.1*

Most of the puzzles were fun and solvable. If you’re using a tablet or phone, the last puzzle will require you to go “off grid,” literally, and use paper and pencil. Not a traditional logic puzzle as the logic is not recorded in the grid. Found this annoying, as others have.

### 4/5 — Hints

*2025-02-15, version 4.7.1*

I wish the hints gave information about the reason why a square is marked as false or true

### 3/5 — Some puzzle solutions are vague and bogus.

*2025-02-12, version 4.7.1*

Vague and bogus solutions for some puzzles.

### 3/5 — Overall good. But the last puzzles

*2025-02-08, version 4.7.1*

Overall the puzzles were good challenges but the last 3 or so puzzles just didn’t make sense. There is a parking one where the clues talked about north and south and # blocks away for parking spaces and who arrived with who or by themselves but you’re asked to figure out what necktie and last name of the attendees for a seminar. So the clues did not match what they were asking for you to figure out. And by the time I pressed hint a million times the answers didn’t make any sense as according to the clues given. There were two other puzzles like this parking one. Eventually I just gave up and pressed hint until solving.

### 4/5 — Notes feature would help!

*2024-11-09, version 4.7.1*

Having grown up with the Penny logic books, it was fantastic to have an app with a similar level of difficulty! I liked the sister app, but I wasn’t feeling challenged enough. This is perfect!
I’d give this 5 stars, but I saw a review that requested a “notes” feature and I completely agree! I use my phone’s Notes app to help me with some of the more layered puzzles (ie. the parking space one!). It would be nice to be able to take notes or draw inside of the app, instead of having to switch back and forth between apps.

### 2/5 — Suggested moves don’t explain anything!

*2024-09-05, version 4.7.1*

The main purposed of suggested moves is to determine how to figure out that specific move

### 2/5 — Excellent puzzles—when they’re written well

*2024-08-28, version 4.7.1*

Far too many of the subsequent volumes contain puzzles that are unsolvable—not because I can’t solve them, but because the clues are insufficient. How do I know it’s not me? Because the Suggest Move hint simply says “Mark the highlighted cell as ‘false’,” with no further explanation or reasoning given.

I won’t be purchasing any more volumes.

### 5/5 — Very stimulating

*2024-07-25, version 4.7.1*

Extremely tricky and challenging cross logic.
Enjoyed thoroughly.

### 5/5 — Egghead does it right

*2024-07-08, version 4.7.1*

These puzzles are from the magazines I believe, everything works perfectly. I had a question about running on different devices and got personal attention almost right away. The support was easily the best result I’ve ever experienced with an online company. If you like puzzles just get this.

### 3/5 — Please bring back the old app

*2024-07-02, version 4.7.1*

I still have and love the old app. I wish you would bring it back. I love the interface, the colors, everything. The new one isn’t nearly as good or user friendly.

### 3/5 — Huh??

*2024-06-29, version 4.7.1*

It must be me but the sentence structure of the clues is unbelievably unclear. I play 7x7 logic puzzles and don’t have as much trouble understanding the clues as with these.

### 2/5 — Incorrect

*2024-05-24, version 4.7.1*

I have found two errors and there isn’t an Ian listed in the first puzzle grid at all

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unclear

*2025-02-17, version 4.7.1*

Clues were not very clear. Very ambiguous. I did not like trying to solve these. Deleted after third puzzle.

### 1/5 — Too Many Bad Puzzles

*2024-09-21, version 4.7.1*

Have come across several hard puzzles that have incorrect clues. It is very frustrating to purchase puzzles that are wrong. Also, have had a couple of puzzles that don’t appear to solvable and the hints don’t include an explanation as to why. Need better puzzles!!!!!

### 1/5 — Poorly written clues, hints are even worse

*2024-01-04, version 4.7.1*

Downloaded this from its sister app, which I loved and eased through all of their puzzles. When that app concluded, it suggested this app as a harder version or to purchase their own harder puzzles. Of course this app is “extreme” - these clues are terrible and you’re left guessing! Sometimes it names three different “people” in a clue but the “not” clue only refers to one of those people, not all of those people. Similar to: “Barry wasn't late on Thursday, which wasn’t the train”… so you’re left wondering if Barry isn’t the train as well. The wording could be slightly better to make things more clear. When you get stuck (which is often), the “hints” just tell you to mark a box as true or false without any explanation, and it’s clear that they don’t go in order - it just picks a random cell to mark as false, but it’s evident there are zero hints that would even logically lead you to that conclusion. It just told me to mark a cell as false when both the person and the day weren’t mentioned in any of the clues, and there is no supporting evidence to suggest that there any true match ups that would make another pairing false… the hints are horrible. Will not be buying additional puzzles - I’ll go back to my other logic puzzle app and will give them my money.

### 1/5 — Not well written

*2023-10-30, version 4.7.1*

It’s even shown in the first screen shot example on the apps download page. You have clues that have nothing to do with the puzzles. If you’re going to go into details about what days of the week, then that should be one of the objectives. The rest of the puzzles are just as bad.

### 1/5 — Poorly written clues, frustrating rather than fun

*2023-08-13, version 4.7.1*

I really enjoy logic puzzles but this one is frustrating rather than fun. The clues are written very poorly and if you dare to use a hint all it tells you is which square to mark true or false, it doesn’t tell you why or which clue it is helping to you solve, and so doesn’t help you understand the clues or rationing behind it.

The clues are written in a very confusing way and each one is long so you end up reading it a few times making the puzzle slow rather than fun

### 1/5 — Love the game but only get a few games before you have to buy more

*2023-06-17, version 4.7.1*

I love the game, the hints and ability to check your progress but why are there only a few free games. Is there no way to get more games free?

### 1/5 — Serious issues with the clues

*2023-06-11, version 4.7.1*

Many of the puzzles have issues with the clues not matching the grid. Like the categories are completely different. Someone doesn’t proofread these. Don’t spend money of this since you can’t even complete many of them!

### 1/5 — Very poorly written!

*2023-01-01, version 4.6.11*

They should not be authorized by Penny Dell

### 1/5 — Others can scoll down a list of clues?

*2022-10-16, version 4.6.6*

I got the first puzzle correct by guessing based on common sense only. I only see 5 clues on each board. If there should be more, that would be awesome. Five clues is not enough to deduce the answer to any game board. There are too many factors unanswered. I had no idea others can scroll down to see more clues! How can I see them too? I would like to keep this. I would rather do something like this, than the stupid games that are out today.

### 1/5 — Not as good as the original app

*2022-05-24, version 4.6.11*

Downloaded this app when I completed the original Logic Puzzles app. This one, unfortunately, does not live up to the original. They’ve replaced “hard” with “left out clues to make them difficult”. When finally, I click on hints to see what I’m missing, I find I’m not missing anything, and it just tells me to mark random squares false until the puzzle is solvable. As opposed to the original where there is actual logical explanations for the hints. I would avoid this app unless they fix it.

**Developer response:** Thanks, some good points. There are no "left out clues" that I'm aware of. Both Penny Dell and myself are OBSESSED with having accurate, error-free, complete puzzles. Email support@eggheadgames.com anytime with a screenshot and a question and we'll respond. I'm confident that there are no errors or guessing required.

The "original" app you refer to has puzzles from Puzzle Baron (btw, kudos for completing it - did you solve all 8000+ puzzles??!!!). As you likely noticed, these puzzles re-use the premise from about 200 original stories. Some clever engineering by Puzzle Baron allows the "Smart Hints" that you're referring to, the ones that understand your current board position and the hints and can explain exactly what to do next and why.

This app has puzzles provided by Penny Dell that are exactly like the puzzles they publish in their magazines. These are all hand-crafted, are all unique, and thus cannot be wired into the "Smart Hint" system. Hence, as you found, the hints provided are random cells. However, in case you hadn't seen it, there is an "Answer" section below the clues that has the same style (cryptic!) answers that Penny Dell publishes in the back of the magazine. It can be a puzzle in itself to work out how they justify each section in the provided answers, but it does provide a framework for solving the puzzle.

In brief, there is a reason I prefaced this version of my app with "Hard". The puzzles are indeed more challenging and idiosyncratic than in my sister app. The hints are far less useful and the provided answer doesn't just give it all away. They're not for everyone, but I personally find these puzzles to be refreshing, frustrating … and really satisfying when I finally solve one! Thanks for your review.

Happy puzzling! Cheers, Michael @ Egghead Games

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great games & great team!

*2026-03-06, version 5.2.2*

I’ve always loved logic puzzles, and this app is the best I’ve found by far. They have a super extensive, replayable collection of puzzles with varying difficulties and absolutely no ads. I once found a small glitch in a game, so I sent a quick note to the team via support. I heard from Micheal within the day, and within 48 hours the glitch was fixed with an app update!

### 5/5 — The Best

*2026-01-22, version 5.1.6*

The caliber of these puzzles remained unmatched , I’ve actually replayed them so many times I really wish I could buy more. It is my Favorite logic puzzle app without question. Since I’ve played every puzzle multiple times, I guarantee you they all can be solved (not sure about all of the hints because I don’t use them) there are however 3 puzzles that definitely have typos I wish they would Fix because they do make the logic confusing. I’ve checked the hints only for these 3 puzzles and was able to Confirm by logic that they are mistakes (I should say written mistakes in the clues rather than typos) so when I replay all 600+ puzzles I just keep these 3 puzzles hidden. Regardless I remain rating the app 5 stars because these puzzles creators are brilliant and I want more more more !!!

### 5/5 — Excellent well written

*2026-01-19, version 5.1.6*

I have worked literally ALL of these puzzles (wish there were more) and disagree with those who say they are written poorly. They are not. But you do have to read them carefully and pay attention to words (like neither, nor etc) and to punctuation. They are very clever puzzles.

### 5/5 — Love!!!

*2025-11-11, version 5.1.6*

I love puzzle games. It’s the right amount of difficult (:

### 5/5 — LOVE this game!

*2025-08-19, version 5.1.6*

So fun. Just like the paper books. Love it!

### 5/5 — Strongest puzzles and great support

*2025-06-26, version 5.1.6*

I have stuck with this game because the puzzles are the strongest and most difficult I can find. Also, just had a glitch in purchasing more puzzles and the support team was incredibly friendly and helpful walking me through it.

### 5/5 — New Version Doesn’t Fit my MacPro Screen

*2025-06-19, version 5.1.6*

I love the Logic Puzzles, but the newest version doesn’t fit my MacPro screen, and it won’t let me resize the screen. Help, please!

### 5/5 — Using my brain

*2025-06-17, version 5.1.6*

Love these puzzles in digital format and from dell especially! The others don’t even come close. I bought all of them, can clear them after I finish so I do them over and over again. Enough time passes that I forget the answers!

### 5/5 — Better hints

*2025-05-28, version 4.7.1*

There should be an explanation for the hint, i.e. how was the fact revealed in the hint arrived at, from which clues, etc.

### 5/5 — Absolutely incredible app

*2024-09-07, version 4.7.1*

First: none of these puzzles contain any errors. I’ve solved 729 of 730 puzzles and have never had to use a hint. As the app itself tells you, the puzzles are HARD and they’re not just saying that!!

This app is so extremely satisfying for anyone looking to exercise their brain. Like I mentioned, I’ve completed all but one puzzle—the Extreme 4x5 titled Free Parking. It’s been driving me crazy for over a year now and I LOVE the challenge!! I periodically revisit it whenever I need to really work my brain.

My only “complaint” is that I’m dying for more puzzles!
