## What is Hard Reset?

Hard Reset: the to-do list and habit tracker that's an actual game.

Every other "gamified" productivity app is a progress bar and a badge for brushing your teeth. This is not. Hard Reset turns your real tasks, habits, and routines into the fuel for a full cyberpunk roguelike RPG. The reward for finishing your checklist isn't a sticker. It's a game you actually want to play.

Your real tasks power the game
Every task, habit, or routine you complete earns Action Points. Spend them to move through the city, upgrade your cyborg body, build your deck, and unleash combos against the oligarchs running a dystopian world. Do your laundry, win a fight. Your productivity is the controller.

A to-do list that does everything
- Every task type: one-time todos, scheduled tasks, recurring routines, counter-based habits, and flexible weekly goals
- No ads, no dark patterns, no manipulative monetization
- Built by a solo developer obsessed with checklists

Actually a deep game
- Procedurally generated runs, so every session feels fresh
- Synergistic decks built from cybernetic hardware and wetware
- Permanent progression unlocking new cards, abilities, and story
- A full narrative across three acts and a final boss

Grounded in behavioral science
Designed around principles from contingency management therapy, so your real-world momentum becomes genuine gameplay and the habit loop actually sticks.

### 1/5 — I almost love this

*2026-08-14*

This is an excellently executed app but the thing that stops me from ever using it is the horrific ai generated images. Until that is fixed I can’t

**Developer response:** Bummer! I'm just a solo dev who can't afford an artist. Glad you think it's excellently executed though!

### 5/5 — A life-changing Productivity Hack

*2026-07-26*

Use of this app with a to-do list system is very much improving my life & work for the better.

### 5/5 — Useful & Helpful

*2026-07-10*

Very much helping with productivity. Thanks

### 2/5 — Can’t Endorse AI Art in Good Faith

*2026-06-18*

I’m a longtime listener of the GROGPOD and it’s genuinely exhilarating to hear about one of the hosts creating their own roguelite deckbuilder. Even better, to weave it seamlessly into the shell of a productivity app is a phenomenal feat. The bones of this app are fantastic. However, just like the criticisms you levied on your recent podcast episode on Mewgenics, I’d much rather deal with text and numbers or shoddy art (a la Dream Quest or Slay the Spire beta art) in lieu of AI art which is obviously made by AI no matter how you rhetorically spin it or how many times you reprompt it. This is a huge calamitous issue affecting the environment and economy, and I can’t help but shake the feeling that it takes the wind out of the sails of the theme of the game which criticizes billionaires, capitalism, harmful tech, etc. only to use said harmful tech. I’ll update this to a 5 star review if the art is replaced by human art or removed from the game altogether because there truly is a fantastic game under the surface here.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2026-05-06*

Would be perfect however there’s no sound with the current app version.
There’s a lot of AI art too, if that’s not your thing.

### 5/5 — Absolutely Incredble

*2025-12-06*

Probably the coolest app I’ve ever come across. Very motivational and very fun with a cyberpunk vibe I’m in love with. Love the cards, the character building and the progression.

### 5/5 — What a unique, well executed idea!

*2025-12-01*

Wow. Just wow. Truly an amazing app that will help you tackle any to do list while having fun. I always felt like there should be a more fun way to approach to do lists and building habits, and this is it! There are other apps that try to gamify growth and productivity (e.g., habitica), but they aren’t actually that fun or truly game-like. Hard reset is a legitimately fun standalone game, and I found it to be genuinely fun and motivating. Well done devs! Can’t wait to keep using this.

### 5/5 — Great solo dev effort

*2025-11-27*

Making games is hard, doubly so if you’re the only on the team. I’ve been following developments this for a long time and it’s really grown on me.

Striking, unique art, interesting gameplay decisions, fun enemy designs, it’s all here! The combination design of productivity app plus Slay the Spire-like mechanics makes for a fun and unique experience, too.

Lots of cool stuff on the horizon for this one!
