Good Food and drink. Always a pleasure to dine here before a theatre performance. Caroline ### 2/5 — Poor app *2024-08-07* The app has limited functionality - practically 1990s level. You can’t move around on the map or switch between map and list view. There is no search by cuisine type. Reviews are still good but poor functionality makes it a pain. Also having paid for the app, having a landing page asking for more money each time you open the app is really irritating. ### 2/5 — When it works it’s great but often has glitches *2022-09-28* Regular glitches on this app, today I can’t sign in, when I tried my husband’s app I can’t get location to work. Support from Hardens generally not good. Have left 2 voice messages and sent one email and 2 to 3 weeks later still have not had a reply. Great information and easy to use the App. Kinda use this like Trip advisor If you write reviews on this you receive reward of free annual subscription which is great if you wish to consider a further purchase. This is essential for the app to be of use!! And app support does not allow me to message anyone….so on this basis I’m going to have to rate this a single a star until someone fixes it and contacts me! **Developer response:** Glad to hear you generally find this a great app, but sorry to hear you have encountered problems. If this problem is now sorted, please up-rate us! ### 4/5 — Great Info *2018-10-19* I had an earlier version of this which I really missed - especially when in an unfamiliar location - when it disappeared. I find the analysis of the Food, Service and Ambiance remarkably in tune with my experiences of the restaurants we visit. Completely user-friendly and my bible when it comes to choosing a restaurant to go to with family and friends. ### 1/5 — Deeply frustrating *2015-05-22, version 2015.0.3* No way to search restaurants based on the map view. Staring at map without pins on it. Guys, have a refresh buttons that allows you to show restaurants based on the area shown in the map view and then filter that view. This basic functionality is core to any map based search app. Looking up postcodes is frustratingly slow. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Awful app *2025-10-03* Map goes in and out without being touched. Search is hopeless. Panel with ‘distance from' and other stuff keeps getting the way. And distance from where anyway! We have very few crashes that show in our metrics - please contact support@hardens.com if you have a problem. ### 1/5 — Un-usable app that pushes for paid subscription *2021-06-17* The app looks awful on a recent iPhone, no effort whatsoever has been put into maintaining it. It’s uncomfortable to use, doesn’t really add any value over a google maps search and the search feature is disabled unless you pay. For the company: invest in software development and design before social media ads. **Developer response:** Sorry it has not worked well for you. Were you in Dark Mode? This was not well supported and has been fixed in our latest release. Otherwise, we receive very few complaints about the UX. The search feature is disabled unless you pay... struggling to see your problem with that? Do you expect us to work for free? ### 1/5 — No password recovery function *2021-01-27* Very poor UX. On the Login screen the email field whites out the text so you can’t see if you’re entering the correct email address. Next screen doesn’t recognise my email and doesn’t include a password recovery option. I’ve cancelled my subscription as I can’t go any further into the site. **Developer response:** Sorry you have had this problem. An Indian restaurant in Whaley Bridge closed nearly two years ago and is still in the guide - FAIL ### 1/5 — Pretty cr@p *2018-06-11, version 2018.0.4* Eat out once or twice a week and by default of work mostly shoreditch and soho way. Given this is the ‘latest’ version, barely any reviews for any relatively new restaurants on the scene. Seemingly a completely useless app for anything new and independent.....Som Saa? Oldroyd? Completely trusted reviews and it can track where you are which is really useful. I use it loads for work and travel to find the best food near where I am. I’m a total foodie and I reckon it’s bang on regarding my local (north London) eateries. Also lots of search options which is helpful in the capital - cuisine types etc. Also updated regularly. I’ve tried a few restaurant apps and this is the best by far. ### 5/5 — Useless, doesn’t recognise I have a subscription. *2019-01-12* Says I need to subscribe. When I tap purchase, the iTunes Store says I have an active subscription. But the app thinks I don’t and greys out the search. Looks like a company slowly (or even faster) going out of business. ### 5/5 — Great App for UK Restaurants *2018-11-20* Since the demise of the old GFG this has become an indispensable tool when searching for a place to eat especially outside of Greater London. It’s easy and simple to use offline, and updates itself once back online. It gives truly unbiased reviews from people like me; the general public who dine out regularly. Restaurants update now as soon as they open, and are removed as they close. I don’t know what one other reviewer is saying about Shoreditch — our office is in this area and anywhere you would expect to be included is in, including very recent openings.
