## What is Hardwoods?

Hardwoods started as a scorebook. It turned into a way to watch your kid get better.

IN THE STANDS
Track just your kid. Pick the stats you care about, tap them as they happen, and watch the season take shape game by game. When the buzzer sounds, her stat card goes to the grandparents in one tap. Missed a game? Another parent can send it to your phone, and it lands in her profile like you tracked it yourself.

Or track the whole team. Team Stats puts every player on your roster on one screen — pick a player, tap what she did, done. No opponent, no official book, and when the game ends there's a box score to text the coach. Any player with a profile on your phone gets her line saved there too.

IN THE DRIVEWAY
Run shooting drills and chart every shot. Nine drills built in, from form shooting and the Mikan drill to three-point circuits — or pick Open Gym and tap the court wherever she shoots. One tap per shot, then a shot chart showing exactly where the ball is going in. Set a target, and watch the percentages climb across the season.

AT THE SCORER'S TABLE
Run the official book when it's your turn. Rosters, per-player stats, fouls and foul-outs, periods and overtime, timeouts, technicals, and a complete box score you can export as a PDF or share as an image. Or use Simple Scorebook when you just need the score — two teams, no roster, no setup.

ACROSS THE SEASON
Every archived game with win-loss records, scoring trends, and player season averages. Every practice session with per-zone shooting percentages. The whole arc, in one place. Every drill explains itself on screen, so you don't need to know the drills to run them. Undo is everywhere, and an in-progress game or session survives your phone dying.

No accounts. No ads. No subscriptions. Every stat stays on your phone unless you choose to send it.

WHY HARDWOODS EXISTS
They kept asking for volunteers to run the scorebook at my daughter's club basketball games, and one day the volunteer was me — with no idea what I was doing. After a few games of paper and scribbles, I figured there had to be a better way. So I built one. Then it grew. Now, most nights, I sit in the stands and track my daughter — or the whole team, when the coach wants the numbers. And in the driveway, we run drills and watch her percentages climb.

That's Hardwoods: built at real games, for the parent in the bleachers and the one at the scorer's table.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.8.0 — 2026-09-23

How much did she play?

New in My Kid: tap ON THE BENCH when she checks in and it flips to ON THE FLOOR with a running clock; tap again when she comes out. Her card shows playing time as a share of the game — "46% · 18:42" — and the season chart gets a minutes trend. Forget to tap out at the buzzer? Ending the game closes it for you.

Team Stats, after its first real weekend

Players are in jersey order on the strip and the box score, so it reads against the coach's sheet. A chip turns amber at three fouls and red at four. Select a player and the shooting tiles show her line — "4/9 · 44%" — so you can see hot or cold at a glance. Someone who didn't show comes off the strip when you mark her out.

Rosters that just work

Team Stats now has its own roster screen. Name the team, add players, done — it saves as you type, no button to remember. A girl shows up who isn't on the list? Tap + ADD on the strip mid-game.

Fix it afterwards

Recorded a line under the wrong name? Long-press the game in Team Seasons, choose Edit Stats, and move it to whoever it should have been. Adjust any count there too. Forgot the opponent? That's on the same menu.

Send a team game to another phone

SHARE STATS on the box score sends the game as data. The other phone adds it to Team Seasons — and offers each player's line to her My Kid profile if she has one there. Sending the same game twice won't create duplicates.

As always: no accounts, no ads, no tracking. Nothing leaves your phone unless you choose to send it.

### 2.7.1 — 2026-09-14

Track the whole team

New: Team Stats. Every player on your roster on one screen, one tap per stat; no opponent, no official book. Pick a player, tap what she did, done. When the game ends you get a box score you can text to the coach, and any player with a My Kid profile on your phone gets her line saved there too.

Stat tracking, front and center

The home screen now leads with My Kid and Team Stats, because that's what most of you open Hardwoods for. The scorebooks are still there, right below.

Out tonight

A player who didn't show doesn't have to be deleted anymore. Mark her OUT in Team Setup and she stays on the roster, skips tonight's pickers, and is back next week with one tap.

The Full Scorebook works upright

Team A above Team B when you hold the phone in portrait, with a toolbar you can actually read. Turn it sideways and the wide layout is still there.

Small things you asked for

Forgot the opponent's name? Long-press the game to add it after the fact. Rename or renumber a profile from its menu. The Full Scorebook now offers to save your kid's stats to her profile when the game ends. And roster names match profiles by first name and jersey number, so "Susi Collins" on the roster finds "Susi" on the phone.

As always: no accounts, no ads, no tracking. Nothing leaves your phone unless you choose to send it.

### 2.6.1 — 2026-08-24

Send games between phones

If someone else was sitting with your kid's game — a spouse, a grandparent, the other parent at an away tournament — they can now send those games straight to your copy of Hardwoods. Pick the games, share them by AirDrop, text, or email, and they land in your kid's profile with her number, color, and stat set intact. Sharing the same games twice won't create duplicates.

Add a game by hand

Missed one, or tracked it on paper? Enter it yourself: date, opponent, an optional final score, and whichever stats you follow. Hand-entered games show up everywhere tracked ones do.

Share the numbers, not just a picture

The share card can now send the stats themselves, so another phone can add them to your kid's profile — right alongside the image you'd text to family.

Large text is properly supported

If you use bigger text on your iPhone, screens no longer break. Labels and buttons scale to fit instead of overlapping or running off the edge.

Simple Scorebook works upright

No need to rotate the phone. Held upright, you get one team across the top and one across the bottom. Turn it sideways and the wide layout is still there.

Faster, and lighter on memory

Hardwoods is built on the newest React Native, which clears up a memory problem that could slow things down over a long game or practice.

As always: no accounts, no ads, no tracking. Nothing leaves your phone unless you choose to send it.

### 2.3.1 — 2026-08-10

NEW — TRAINING MODE
Run shooting drills with your kid and chart every shot.
• Nine drills built in — form shooting, the Mikan drill, free throw ladders, mid-range circuits, and three-point work. Or pick Open Gym and just tap the court wherever she shoots.
• One tap per shot. During a drill the app already knows where she's standing, so you only hit MAKE or MISS — no looking down while she's shooting.
• A shot chart after every session showing what she made from each spot, so you know where the next practice should go.
• Targets you set per player, and a season view showing the percentages climb. Every drill explains itself on screen, so you don't need to know the drills to run them.

As always: no accounts, no ads, and every stat stays on your phone.

### 2.2.0 — 2026-08-08

Three additions for parents tracking their kid from the stands:
• FINAL SCORE — When you save a game, you can now add the team's final score. See at a glance whether that 12-point night came in a tight win or a blowout. You can add scores to past games too.
• PAUSE A GAME — Step away mid-game to check how your kid did against this team last time, then pick up right where you left off. Nothing is lost.
• STAT GUIDE — Every stat now has a plain-English explanation and a note on exactly when to tap it, so anyone can pick up the phone and help track.

As always: no accounts, no ads, and every stat stays on your phone.
