I forgot my lights on over night and the system didn't give me any alarm of the low battery. When I checked the app it just showed me the charging voltage when my car was on the previous time. I used before the T-Mobile sync up drive, which always notified me if the battery got critically low and I was able to check remotely the battery level when my car was parked. I'm super annoyed that Spark doesn't show this. The other missing feature is to set a custom sound to an alarm if somebody hits your car. Now the sound is so soft that you wouldn't even know if something happened to your car when it was parked. Please fix these missing features ASAP. ### 4/5 — WiFi in an old car *2021-12-07, version 2.9.4* The Harman Spark brought my older Buick into the WiFi age. However, sometimes it just fails to provide WiFi. I would put this in the fairly reliable category and it is worth the cost (device $50 + a monthly fee from AT&T $20). ### 4/5 — Lots of potential but flawed *2021-11-03, version 2.7.14* The app is seriously delayed in notifications its notifying me of events from 6 hours ago and the device is unhooked right now.. ### 3/5 — Audio *2021-08-21, version 2.7.14* Could improve on a lot like putting audio and a camera with it so we could have for our personal use in case anything happens we have our own proof. ### 3/5 — App not functioning properly *2021-04-28, version 2.7.14* I was able to install and connect my spark, but the app seems to have an glitch. There is a few buttons at the bottom of the screen that sit over top of the menu buttons that allow me to interact with my device. So, with this bug, i can only see the devices location, and none of the other cool features. Doesn't seem to by an option for web access to the device either. So until this bug is fixed, this app and device is pretty useless to me and will be returned. Great idea for the device! App was a flop. **Developer response:** Hello Spikeycme. It could add some stuff, like it says disturbance detected but doesn’t say what kind of disturbance would be nice if it did. Also if someone taps your car with their door or something it would be nice if it told you where it got tapped from left side, right side ,front, back ,or anywhere. ### 5/5 — This is great *2021-04-07, version 2.7.7* I have this in my son ... (a new driver ).. his car ... he knows it tracks his speed and driving .... it’s really great and works fantastic If he speeds it will notify me ... ### 3/5 — App Keeps crashing *2021-04-05, version 2.7.7* I like that the app sends you notifications about what’s happening with a vehicle, but when I click on the notification the app never loads. Then I go to the app and it crashes. So I have no idea which vehicle it was for. Please fix this issue!!! It’s frustrating ### 5/5 — The App is Garbage *2020-12-21, version 2.7.7* This review is for the App only. The latest update is garbage. Cannot login, called Support No help whatsoever. Up until the latest update I’ve had no problems. Hopefully they will fix it sooner rather than later. Recent updates aside, the app provides great peace of mind for parents with teenage drivers. I get alerts that I’ve set up in the app and I am alerted when there is an issue with the vehicle. Always know where the vehicle is and have a travel history. ### 5/5 — Really great app *2019-11-13, version 2.5.21* Instant virtual mechanic to notify the service engine problem as soon as it appears on the dashboard it’s an amazing feature that doesn’t require me to go to my nearest auto parts to find the issue on the car, love it when it reminds me that my tank is running low on gas.. hope the collision features gets back on but if not, still a good app. ### 3/5 — You need a better app *2019-11-09, version 2.5.21* I want more diagnostic features like air pressure and engine codes. When I first got it, it had that now it doesn’t. I would like oil changes to be able to be tracked using the app. I would like to know when the car is turned on and off. The idling notification is real nice, but I want to know when it is started. It simply doesn’t work, trips haven’t been logged for some reason, lots of trips missing, loses connection frequently even though being plugged in. The information it provides is not current, there is a huge delay. Really disappointed. ### 1/5 — Quite Working... "It use to work..." *2020-12-14, version 2.7.7* I had two Sparks in my previous autos. I plugged one into my new vehicle and after 2 months of good use, in the new vehicle, it just quite logging on. The new vehicle was a hybrid and it had worked until Harman came up with a "Capability Checker." It appears that the checker is now keeping the Spark from working, rather than it not working because of the software's incompatibility. Now I have two Sparks and they are not much more than paper weights. Until they decide my vehicle is comparable I have no help tracking my family and making sure they make it to their designated destinations. I'm out $200. and ATT will soon be out the $40. they charge me each month for this previously useful service. It never worked perfectly but at least it use to work. ### 1/5 — Not worth it not worth it not worth it *2020-12-04, version 2.7.7* I bought this piece about three months ago and the only part that works on this is the Internet, it gives you no Geo fencing, no vehicle report, and you certainly cannot edit your Wi-Fi information, and I’ve spoken to about 10 different representatives, and the only thing that I get is they’re referring this to the engineers and they’re working on the situation, how long does it honestly take to work on something I’ve spoken to AT&T and they did credit my account one month, and certainly they were not even aware of the unit not working, so I don’t know how that goes but yeah I think they should suspend it until they get it corrected with this software ### 1/5 — Terrible customer service and substandard quality *2020-01-21, version 2.7.2* I recently purchased this product and it worked well. There was a ignition problem with my car and the devise sent a notification to my phones about the problem. After my car problem was fixed, the device had to be removed to clear the error codes. As I tried to remove the device, the front and back of the Harmon Spark broke apart leaving the connection part still attached to the ODB port in my car. The Harmon Spark was poorly constructed and needs to be strengthened and engineered for repeated removal without coming apart. Called to report the problem to Harmon Spark and the response from them is they are doing an investigation. Days later I’ve head nothing from them after being told they would get back to me within 24 hours. The customer service and product design could be much better. ### 1/5 — Most valuable feature was removed *2019-07-31, version 2.5.21* The absolute most valuable and most heavily used feature of this app was the watch it button that was removed with the latest update. The watch it button would notify you whenever a vehicle moved without having to set up a geo-fence. The app and device works well other than that. Unfortunately we will need to find another service and device since the app is almost worthless now. ### 1/5 — Check engine light *2019-05-21, version 2.5.14* The device ended up throwing all kinds of electrical codes for my car threw my check engine light on. Ended up having to pay my dealership for a diagnostic just for them to tell me it’s the Harman spark causing the problem. This device is supposed to help us with car problems not cause them. The worst part is this device is being paid for on my att bill and I can’t cancel it until it’s been paid for. I’ve only had the device 6 months now. ### 1/5 — Poor app support, buggy software, defective spark *2019-03-24, version 2.4.2* Been quite a journey with Harman and AT@T. They released a half baked product with a ton of bugs, unreliable WiFi, and ransom shutdowns. I’m sure they have figure out the product is crap, but their support is useless and all they do is blame you, the car, or anything but the Harman Spark. Tried it in 3 cars, had the same bugs. Namely 1. WiFi shuts off randomly, when driving, when parked and sometimes never turns on 2. A know bug that sends you 15 notifications a day that your car has moved unexpectedly 3. Trips often fail to record Talking to support is a waste of time, tier 1,2,3. Have no fixes for the issues. I guess they only hope to hold you off so you can’t return the defective device. Stay away, maybe if the actually fix it it would be really nice. But as it stands it’s horrible. ### 1/5 — Frustrated and Disappointed *2019-02-09, version 2.4.0* I have been trying for the last two days to set up my Spark with no luck. I have been on the phone with 10 different people. Literally ten! I have been sent back-and-forth from Harman to AT&T and back time and time again MULTIPLE TIMES. No one is taking responsibility. They each seem to blame the other. I’m experiencing the exact problem that seems everyone else on here is. It won’t work. The app is completely useless. It says drive five minutes and then 10 minutes and still nothing. I am completely frustrated. I will be returning for a full refund. I will also be contacting the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. It is very clear that something isn’t right with this company and their product. They need to be held accountable for their lack of support and poor product. ### 1/5 — Time waster *2019-01-24, version 2.3.0* Tried to set the spark up with no luck. Called customer service twice who advised me (3 separate times) to drive around for 10 minutes to establish a connection. Did this 3 times with no luck. Called customer service back and was told I am not registered and there is a glitch. I have to wait 12 hours to try again so the device can ‘reset’. Hoping this is not how the spark will be or I will be returning it. I do not live in a rural area and have never had an issue connecting to a network before. ### 2/5 — Hasn’t worked right since I got it *2020-11-24, version 2.7.7* I have had the device for about 3 week now. At first I couldn’t even log into the app for 2 weeks. It wouldn’t allow me to verify my email. When I decided to try like 3 days ago I resigned up with my husband’s email and I was finally able to get in. It still does not tell me my driving score, track my trips, or edit my hotspot. It has potential and I do my coursework in my car while at work(the reason I got it), no one wants to make up for this in anyway. It works sometimes and most of the time it shows the vehicle in the wrong place. I have sent numerous emails to them with no help. I wouldn’t recommend this for a tracking device. This Harman app does it all and even some more, but there is one feature that was important for me in Sync up Drive that is missing from this app. You can't set a good alarm sound when the device detects a disturbance. I have been using Sparks for about two years and it seems like on a daily I have to unplug it and plug it back in today and required an update I did an update from the App Store open the app and an unknown error occurred I see my vehicle is no longer listed so I’m going to add my vehicle this time is asked me for the IMEI number which of course is on the box outside of my vehicle. I am on the road this is unacceptable. Is there a Wi-Fi in the car now. Thanks you guys are freaking genius (sarcasm). Nothing worse than trying to troubleshoot while you are driving!! It such a convenient app showing vehicle location, vehicle diagnostics, vehicle gas levels and if your vehicle has been tampered with.
