You can work on any bendable hole on any diatonic harmonica, and it will show whether you’re hitting the bend or missing. I strongly encourage you to pay the $4.99 for the plus upgrade. I consider myself a newby, but have already come to the conclusion that one needs to learn and understand the basics of harmonica tuning prior to diving into the frustrating abyss of practicing overdraw technique - not an easy task on often out-of-tune out-of-the-box harps.
