## What is Harmonizer?

See and hear how music fits together.
Harmonizer turns musical relationships into a colorful, interactive grid. Tap a hexagon to hear a note, or tap the triangle between three notes to play a major or minor chord. Sing or play a single note on an instrument, and watch the detected pitch light up.
EXPLORE NOTES AND CHORDS
Discover how neighboring notes connect through perfect fifths, major thirds, and minor thirds. Major and minor chords form triangles, making harmony something you can see, hear, and explore with your fingers.
SEE YOUR VOICE
Use the microphone to highlight the pitch you sing or play. Listen to a note, try matching it with your voice, and explore the connection between sound and color.
CHOOSE YOUR LABELS
Show note names or Movable Do syllables, with your choice of tonic. Keep labels visible, show them only when notes are active, or hide them to focus on the colors and sounds.
EXPLORE YOUR WAY
Choose from playing, pitch detection, or a mode that listens when you stop playing. Adjust the grid size to suit your screen and how you like to interact.
HEAR HARMONY DIFFERENTLY
Harmonizer uses Shepard tones—layered sounds that emphasize a note’s identity without a distinct octave. Every hexagon with the same note name produces the same sound.
For curious beginners, students, teachers, and musicians, Harmonizer offers a hands-on way to explore pitch, chords, and musical patterns. No music theory knowledge is needed to start: touch a note and listen.
Pitch detection requires microphone access.

### 5/5 — Please update this app!

*2017-09-15*

My 6 month old loves it, but Apple is saying iOS 11 won't run it!

### 5/5 — 😍😍😍😍

*2014-04-18*

FIFTH HARMONY,!!

### 1/5 — Boring

*2014-03-02, version 1.3.0*

If you think this is an app when you can harmonize your voice, its not. Its boring and it sounds like church music which to me is not good so deleted it and im never gonna get it back!

### 2/5 — Highly creative, but needs an update for iOS 7

*2013-09-25, version 1.2*

I love this app, but upgrading to IOS 7 makes the interface too big. I no longer see all the panels, and the notes no longer play or show reliably when the panels are touched. The wonderful relationships between the rows and columns of panels no longer exists.
The last update was for iOS 4 over 2 years ago. Will someone help keep this app alive, or will Chroma be the only app remaining that uses Shepard tones to help us understand music in such a creative way?

### 1/5 — Update

*2013-01-04*

Broken. Needs update.

### 2/5 — Needs another update

*2012-12-19, version 1.2*

Doesn't work with 3rd generation iPad with OS 6.1. The app opens and seems stable, but it doesn't behave as expected (it zooms in very close and doesn't respond consistently to taps on the screen). Too bad as the concept is very cool.

### 3/5 — Issue on iPad 3 with iOS 6.1

*2012-11-23, version 1.2*

This looks like a really good app but having just installed it on and iPad 3 with ios 6.1 I have found it is not working as per the screenshots. I appear to have a display which is zoomed in, I.e. only a few hexagons are visible and running my finger over the display results in changes of tone in the middle of the hexagons, i.e. where there should be no change. I guess the sensing of the finger position is correct but the displayed image is wrong.
Looking forward to a fix so I can try this app properly.

### 5/5 — AWESOME

*2012-09-12, version 1.2*

Best app ever

### 1/5 — New iPad update

*2012-07-08*

Was recommended this app, but doesn't work at all on the new iPad. Please fix, thanks!

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2012-06-01, version 1.2*

Two things I would like to see for this wonderful app. If it had a first page with the 'how to' on it would make searching for instructions easier to find and refer to.
The second thing would be the ability to turn off the 'pitch seeking' display if you wanted to. I find it quite distracting whilst sitting and contemplating patterns and moves. To be able to start or stop this feature on the home/first page would be a great help.
Thanks so much for building this app. I think it's wonderful!
