So, I read the more likely data driven articles like business, sports, and the human interest stories, but pick out the likely objective pieces in US and international news. ### 3/5 — Games *2026-03-02, version 10.0.52* You've got a problem with an popup at startup. "Want to play games?" Is offered with no option but to "continue". Either add an x out or loose the offer. Or fix your security ifbit's a hack. ### 2/5 — Why can’t we print the sudoku puzzles anymore!!!! *2025-08-07, version 10.0.41* As a digital and print subscriber I was able to print the sudoku puzzles on the day I did not receive the printed paper. Since the upgrade a week or so go I can no longer print the puzzle. Next you took away the ability to swipe while reading spread in landscape mode. Contrary to what settings say you can’t fully “navigate” in zoom mode. I can’t help but wonder if you don’t want people to use this app and instead use the website which, thankfully, has not yet been “upgraded.” Mike Waller would be disappointed. ### 2/5 — Update *2024-08-15, version 10.0.20* Was forced to upgrade/date to newer version. Clicked ok. It started and never completed. Now can’t use app. ### 1/5 — Very poor app *2024-08-12, version 10.0.19* Trash app. Recognizes that i’m logged in as a subscriber but then a pop-up is still asking me to subscribe to the publication. Layout is terrible, no local section Based on everyone else’s reviews they have the same issues, but it seems there is no actual technical support to reach out to. Unfortunately this is what happens when these big corporate media companies like tribune media acquire local newspapers: mass lay-offs, and then the content and it’s accessibility suffers. Again, I PAY TO SUBSCRIBE, and am still having these issues. The prior iPad version displayed articles fine, full screen. Please resolve this. Thank you ### 1/5 — Unhappy *2024-08-09* I have a yearly subscription which is no where close to expiring but once again when I go to get onto news a pop up informs me that it is for subscribers only and once again I have to call courant help line and spend 20 minutes trying to explain my problem and hear them say at least 10 times that they apologize for this problem but it never is solved. Non stop adds even though I turned them off in the app. Terrible set up for a news site. Emails too for that matter. Really disappointed. ### 1/5 — Absolutely awful experience *2025-12-28* I downloaded this app 13 hours ago. I have received over 45 push notifications. 45. That’s a push notifications every 15-20 minutes. If someone texted me like that I would block them. Mind you, all I have turned on for notifications is News, Breaking News, and Business. And I turned off Business about 3 hours ago. At least 8 of these 45 notifications have been sports related, and you’ll note that sports is not one of the notifs I have on - I checked at least 3 times throughout the day to make sure I hadn’t made a mistake or that they hadn’t been turned on. Sports was never on. What an absolute nightmare. Immediate delete. After all, it presumes to be a newspaper app. I want to browse every article (and comic) that the editor has selected to publish in a given edition. The app fails at that basic, fundamental task. Previous versions would allow you to move between each individual article in the daily edition. This version fails at the basic element of reading the newspaper. They keep adding the cost of “special issues” which reduces your paid to date. Paper has gone down hill and most articles are just wire services reports. No objective reporting as they told us the border was secure and Biden had no cognitive decline the last 4 years. Going to cancel this paper once paid to date is reached. Your app is horrible, almost unreadable. Pop up ads which cannot be blocked, in-line videos make the app and website useless. Sometimes cannot log in and therefore can’t read articles I AM PAYING FOR. ABSOLUTELY A PATHETIC ONLINE SERVICE……HOW DO YOU CHARGE CUSTOMERS FOR APPS AND SUBSCRIPTION THAT NEVER, EVER WORKS AS IT SHOULD? The sports section is also a very good source for local and national sports information. Sometimes my account dosen’t always work properly and it acts like I don’t have a paid account.
