## What is Harubi?

Snap it, and it fills itself in. You just check.

Receipts, payment text alerts, the transaction list inside your banking app — photograph or screenshot them, and Harubi reads the date, amount and merchant and fills the entry in for you. Completely free. No account, no bank login.

■ Why photos instead of a bank connection?
Every other budgeting app wants your bank credentials, a subscription, or both. Harubi wants neither.
· Cash never shows up in a bank feed. A photo of the receipt catches it.
· You never hand your bank login to a third party — there is nobody to hand it to.
· Nothing to sign up for. Open the app and start.

■ Three kinds of images, sorted out automatically
· Paper receipts — merchant, total and date, read straight off the slip.
· Payment and card alert messages — screenshot the alert and it becomes one transaction.
· Bank and card statement lists — screenshot the transaction list in your banking app and every row is read at once.

Whatever you send, a review screen comes first. Correct a misread figure, untick a row you don't want, then save.

■ Several screenshots, stitched into one list
A statement never fits on one screen. Scroll, take as many screenshots as you need, and hand them over together.
· Overlapping stretches are matched up by running balance, so nothing is imported twice.
· If a date header was cut off at the top of a shot, the date is carried across from the neighboring shots.
· Transactions you have already saved come back pre-unticked.

■ Share now, sort it out later
Send images to Harubi from Photos or Messages with the share sheet. iOS won't let an app launch itself, so nothing happens at that moment — but the next time you open Harubi, everything you shared is waiting and gets sorted in one go.

■ Private by construction
· Text recognition runs on your iPhone, through Apple's Vision framework. Photos are not uploaded for processing.
· Your transaction records stay on this device.
· No account, no login, no bank connection.
· Free, entirely. No in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads, no tracking.
· Not a single analytics or advertising SDK, and no third-party libraries at all.

■ The budgeting part
· Income, expense and transfer entries with a large number keypad
· Daily, calendar, weekly, monthly, summary and memo views
· Transaction search — by details, category or asset, narrowed to a period, with your recent searches kept
· Category statistics (pie chart) with period and account filters
· Per-category budgets with remaining amount and spending pace
· Trend tab — your daily balance, and the transactions behind any day
· Balance trend graph per account
· Double-entry asset tracking — cash, bank and card balances kept in step
· Recurring expenses — rent, subscriptions, anything that leaves on the same day each month
· Automatic insights — budgets nearly spent, too much in Other, month-over-month jumps
· Backup and restore to a JSON file (photos and videos attached to memos, and recurring-expense rules, are not included in the backup)
· On-device AI — a summary of your month and category suggestions for Other (iOS 26 on Apple Intelligence devices)
· Light / dark mode and theme colors

■ Receipts we read
Korea, Japan, the United States, Germany and the Philippines.

Budgeting is all about consistency. Start light — just today's spending.

iPhone only. Requires iOS 17 or later.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.16 — 2026-09-18

The trend chart no longer stops at the end of a month. Pick a range and the balance line runs on across months.

· Trend has range chips — “This month”, 3 mo, 6 mo, 1 yr, All. You pick how far back to look instead of stepping one month at a time. The balance line runs as one line across month boundaries; where a month turns there is only a faint vertical tick.
· The balance line is no longer flattened. The vertical axis always started at zero, so a month of ups and downs was pressed into something close to a straight line. The axis now fits the range the balance actually moved through, and zero stands only when it falls inside that range, as one faint horizontal line. “Balance trend”, on the screen you get when you open one of your assets, follows the same rule. The hint on the Balance tab was still the Spending tab's wording; it now tells you to drag across the chart to read the balance on that day.
· Spending is now read as “the last 30 days”. Each point is the total spent in the 30 days up to that day, so a rising line means money went out faster and a falling line slower. The reading lines give “Last 30 days” and “Previous 30 days” with their date ranges. Pick the “This month” chip and you get the screen you had — this month's running total with last month to the same day behind it.
· The chart no longer runs into the future. Until now, stepping ahead drew a flat line at zero, which read as “nothing spent”, and the balance line carried today's figure to the end of the month. The right edge now never goes past today. Going back is unchanged.
· The list of that day's transactions has a name in its header — “16 Sep · Expenses 62,400”. The list also shows income and transfers, but the figure in the header counts expenses only, so adding the rows up did not match.
· Open one of your assets and each block of figures now says which period it covers. There are four on that one screen — income, expense and transfer are the calendar month (“September”), card spending is “Current cycle”, the balance trend is “6 months”, the list below is “All time”. Until now the period was written nowhere, and it was easy to read every figure on the screen as covering the same stretch of time.
· This version also puts the percentages in Stats right. Transactions with no category are counted now, so the list closes at 100%. Until now we added up only the transactions that had a category. That was a different base from the total printed on the same card, so the shares read higher than they were. Transactions with no category stand in one row at the end of the list, “No category”. It is not a slice of the donut and has no category colour.
· The list has a “Cumul.” column. You can see at a glance what share of your spending the top few categories make up, and the last row closes at 100%.
· The AI monthly summary now states correct percentages (on supported devices). Until now two bases met inside one sentence, so in some months a category was written up as “100%”. And when the amount with no category is larger than the top category, the summary is set not to name a largest category — that month cannot be compared.
· In the budget list, amounts are no longer cut off when a category name is long. The row is three lines now. If the pair of amounts does not fit on one line, “left” drops below.
· In Stats, swipe left or right to change the month. “Split up ‘Other’” has new wording and shows a count, so you can see how many entries are waiting before you open it.
· If a photo does not go through, send it to us with the report button on the review screen. The photos you send are what we fix next.

### 1.3.14 — 2026-09-11

This version gives a transaction its own Merchant field. Where you spent and what you bought stand apart now.

· Expenses have a Merchant field, income has From. Until now one Details field held both the shop and what you bought. The subtitle in the list, search, the remembered category, recurring and installment rules, and backups all read this field. Transfers do not have it.
· Entries you already wrote stay as they are. Older records remain in Details and look the same on screen.
· Merchants you typed before appear above the keyboard. You tap one to put it in, and the category you chose for that shop last time comes with it. Once you set the category yourself, we leave it alone.
· “Done” on a text field now saves. Until now “Done” brought the keypad back and you had to press “OK” once more. The keypad also drops when we ask whether to close without saving, so “Keep editing” is no longer hidden behind it.
· On the first Stats screen the donut — spending by category — moved to the top. The budget notice, “Tidy up Other” and “AI summary” sit below it. In the date picker in search, “From the start” and “OK” stand side by side with more room to tap.
· On iPhones with a shorter screen, the suggestion row covered the Details row while you typed a merchant, so that row would not take the first tap. Fixed.
· If a photo does not go through, send it to us with the report button on the review screen. The photos you send are what we fix next.

### 1.3.13 — 2026-09-08

This version gives every sheet the same top. Harubi also has a Japanese page on the App Store now.

· The grey capsules at the top of each sheet are gone, and the two words “Cancel” and “Save” stand there instead — adding and editing an asset, categories, recurring expenses, editing an item, editing a memo. The tap areas grew along the way.
· In the memo editor the two symbols became the words “Cancel” and “Save”. A symbol does not tell you whether what you wrote will stay. If you pull the sheet down with the memo changed, we ask first. VoiceOver used to read that spot as “xmark”; it has a name now.
· Where a word stood alone — the tip, help, putting a budget on another category, choosing a backup to share — there is a close mark instead. Words only tell things apart when they stand in pairs.
· Harubi now has a Japanese page on the Japanese App Store. Until now, people in Japan saw a Korean name and description.
· On a device set to Japanese, our entry in the list under Share — and the message shown while it saves — appeared in Korean. Both are in Japanese now.
· The store screenshots were taken again on this version’s screens.
· If a photo does not go through, send it to us with the report button on the review screen. The photos you send are what we fix next.

### 1.3.12 — 2026-09-05

Search has arrived. And the budget screen now leads with what you went over.

· Find a transaction you have already recorded. Search by details, category or asset, and set the period — all time, this year, the last six months, or dates of your own. The total for what you found comes with it, so “how much have I actually spent there?” is answered on one screen.
· From a category, tap “Search all time” and this month’s view widens to everything you have recorded. The keyboard stays down here, so the results you asked for are not hidden behind it.
· The budget screen has been rebuilt. Categories you have gone over move to the top, and the header says it first: “3 over budget · -$52.00”. Percentages are gone — amounts take their place, so “-$17.50” tells you what you would have to put back.
· Filters got the same treatment. One line tells you what you picked, how many transactions it caught and what they add up to, and you can now pick “No category” to see the transactions you never filed.
· Swipe left and right in the ledger to move through time. Calendar and Weekly move by month, Monthly by year.
· Open a saved transaction and the keypad stays down, so you can see the whole thing at once; it comes up when you tap the amount. Cancel and Save sit at the top, and if you drag the sheet away with edits still open, Harubi asks first. Nothing disappears quietly.
· Deleting installments is clearer. The bin at the top is gone; “Delete these installments” appears at the bottom, and only when the transaction is part of an installment plan.
· The button that closes a sheet now has one shape and one color in all seven places. The dim circle behind it is gone and the close mark stands in the text color — in light and in dark alike the circle was too faint to tell you it was a button, so the same button looked different from place to place and theme to theme. Separately, we widened where you can tap: six of those places had been cut too tight and are now sized to a fingertip, while transaction editing was already roomy enough. “Edit” at the top right drops its capsule and stands as text alone — its color is unchanged.
· Amounts now follow your device’s region, and so does the keypad. If your region writes decimals with a comma, typing 5,50 no longer becomes 550.
· Text and color contrast has been reworked throughout — secondary text, chip borders, future dates, installment badges, tabs, and text on accent colors. Dark mode included.
· If a photo does not go through, send it to us with the report button on the review screen. The photos you send are what we fix next.

### 1.3.11 — 2026-09-01

This release is about the app following the language you pick, all the way through.

· Change the language and everything on screen now comes with it. The accounts Harubi sets up for you (Cash, Bank, Card) and the categories it starts you with (Food and the rest) had been keeping the names of the language you first opened the app in. They now read in the language you have chosen — in the entry screen, the Assets tab, Manage assets, and account detail and editing. Any name you have edited yourself stays exactly as you wrote it.
· On the account editing screen, the current name is shown in grey as an example. Leave it and it keeps following the language; type your own and that name stays.
· The account and category pickers can be pulled up to full height. Four of them showed a grab handle but would not move; they now behave like every other sheet. Useful when the list is long.
· On Japanese screens, field labels were being cut off (‘毎月く…’). The label column had a fixed width, so anything longer than Korean ran out of room. It is measured per language now, and the labels read in full.
· If a photo does not go through, send it to us with the report button on the review screen. The photos you send are what we fix next.
