The first is that I just randomly lost all my eggs. I have no feedback on where they went. I don’t know if there’s a timer, like Bumble, but I WANT to use this app and I feel punished for not using it fast enough (like when I have 4 back-to-back doubles at work and take a break). I’m disappointed that my eggs are gone, and I have no new ones. The second is that the questions are all things I like but answers to. They’re hard questions, but not very matching. Country vs city, family vs friends, cats vs dogs, always picking between two great things so I just answer randomly. If the questions were more meaningful, or so meaningless that they were nonsense, it’d be better. lol ### 2/5 — Great idea, bad execution. *2025-04-20, version 25.4.0* Many of the preset questions and answers feel underwhelming. It might be more effective to either: a) allow users to respond freely to the preset question and then decide whether the other person's answers align with their boundaries, or b) enable open conversation and have the egg “hatch” based on the number of messages exchanged. The one thing is a side really bothers me is that I can’t really see the information about a person until we start answering questions…. On top of that a lot of people take forever!!! However, most of the potential matches it shows me are 150 to 350 miles away. I think it lacks the users in my area for it to be of any value. That said, if there were more users in my area, I love this concept and have found it to be more fun to use than other dating apps. ### 2/5 — Account Disappeared— Made Me Start From Scratch! *2025-01-31, version 25.1.9* This freaking app just deleted my account. I opened it today and it was gone, and forced me to set up a new account. There’s no way to log out or in, so I guess all my matches are just lost to me now. So you know, this app has an extremely low rate of participation, with the majority of eggs never even attempting to answer the questions/hatch. For the rare ones who do, it’s impossible to get hatched. But I did have a “golden egg” I was looking forward to talking to, and I guess I can’t now. What kind of app doesn’t save your profile?! ### 2/5 — Good idea bad execution *2025-01-28, version 25.1.7* I would only recommend this app if you want someone who is identical to you? If you have a different viewpoint on one thing then you don’t match. The hatching is cool until you realize a lot of people don’t use pictures of their face, so then what’s the point? I wouldn’t recommend this way of dating to anyone. App is also glitchy. ### 3/5 — A week straight of Nada *2025-01-20, version 25.1.0* I’ve been religiously hatching for a week. I’m sitting at 24 eggs in the Level 1. And thats not counting the eggs that phased out on their own. Only two men made it to Level 2. And then when I saw they were over 300 miles from me, both didn’t last in the carton any further. Sadly, I think the instant gratification of other apps will continue to prevail over this one, until you give people the option to match with others that are more active on the app and also allow for location preferences (at least), you’re going to continue to loose out on users. ### 2/5 — Very glitchy *2025-01-10, version 25.1.0* The app keeps asking me to make new accounts. I kept thinking I had lost mine and I realized when I was about to make my third account that it was just the app messing up and it doesn’t even always work to delete the app and reinstall it to sign into the account I already made. My account that had the premium subscription said I had a match but when I went to see the profile it said there was a problem with the system and I couldn’t access my matche’s profile. I wrote the company about this and after a month without receiving any assistance from them other than an automated email saying they had received my message and would be in touch I deleted my account because there was no way to contact them to figure out how to cancel my subscription, and I was getting frequent notifications that they were trying to get the payment to renew my subscription and I didn’t want to pay for another month of the subscription when it wasn’t even working properly. Then today I still got money withdrawn from my account to cover my subscription fee! I contacted Apple for a refund. I still can’t sign into my Hatched account that I still have that I don’t have a premium subscription for. When I open the app it asks me to make another account. I guess I will try deleting and reinstalling the app to sign into the only Hatched account I have right now. ### 2/5 — Complete waste of time. *2024-12-02, version 24.11.5* The concept itself is great but the questions are ridiculous. I guarantee many lost potential matches based on who is writing these ‘matchmaking’ questions. An example: when sharing food with the table would you season it without asking like adding salt’. First of all, I’m Southern so I’ve never ‘shared food with the table’ but I’ve cooked for a large group of people. There was another I can’t recall but I sat there thinking ‘neither’. These are people looking for their other half. It would make more sense to have a list to choose from and to not have them written by a child. The only way to get past it is to spend a bunch of money on ‘yolks’. It’s a scam using the single community for profit. Hard Boiled PASS ### 2/5 — Not impressed *2024-11-12, version 24.11.3* I can see the appeal of this app. Connecting on a mental level before the physical one. Cool. The questions are interesting. But as many have said, the lack of preferences is crazy. The eggs in my “carton” are just random women, with or without kids, random ages, and I think the worst thing is that not a single person has been within a 100-mile radius of me. I’m not looking for a long distance relationship. I’m looking for someone 50 miles away tops. Preferably closer. So I’ve been abandoning all my eggs. The other issue was getting my face in my picture. My face had to be in the very center of the picture to fit in the egg. I can’t adjust or drag it. So now just the left half of my face is in the egg. I’m not impressed. I’m only giving this two stars because I think it *could* be a nice alternative to finding a date purely on looks. ### 3/5 — Bugs *2024-10-27, version 24.10.7* Too many bugs, concept is weird. I have this bug where when I click one someone, it shows up as someone else The app is also very unlikely because what are the chances that you match with someone that actually responds and not knowing if someone egged on or not is weird ### 2/5 — Good idea but bad execution *2024-10-26, version 24.10.5* I’ve only had the app for a few days but I am annoyed at the limited eggs you get each day unless you want to pay for more. Two days in a row all of my matches were 100-300miles away from where I live. I think there should be some sort of filter for how far you’re willing to travel for your match should you get that far. And of the small handful of eggs that are a reasonable distance from me, all of them expired without answering the first question. And honestly the AI questions to see if you can hatch your persons egg are dumb. Some of them are ok but I think you’re missing an opportunity to dive right into the core of who a person is. Because I personally could really care less if someone would “rather travel back in time 50years or forward 50years into the future” or “would you rather stay in or go on an adventure on your day off of work” that doesn’t tell me anything about who they are as a person and quite frankly that kind of stuff can change day to day. I’ve had it for just over half a month now and have been given people to try and hatch exactly once. Yet I’ll constantly receive notifications saying that there’s a new batch of people for me to try and hatch or that someone is trying to hatch me. But when I try to open the app or click on the notification, there will be no one there for me to hatch. I’ll give this app another 2 weeks, but then I’m deleting it. I figured this one would be different since it had a different approach to it, it’s no better than the others. For starters I was under the impression if you and your match get a question wrong it will just give you another question. Nope, you are dead in the water if your answers don’t match. I was at 75% with someone and because the last answer didn’t match that was it, game over. You want to continue anyway? Buy egg yokes to do it. Basically buy the premium currency and Auto Unlock the eggs if you want to get anywhere because answering the questions isn’t gonna help when you can get screwed over at any moment. Then the amount of eggs available was poor. My preferences were pretty open all around meanwhile I got a total of 16 eggs and I live in a large city. Days went by and I didn’t get any new eggs so I deleted the app. Most eggs don’t answer and they just expire. I had the chance to speak with the CEO, Mitch, over the phone, really a nice guy overall. In the time I’ve used it, obviously it hasn’t worked out for me lol, but I’ve gotten to watch this app grow over time from an early stage, which, to me is pretty neat. It does something no other dating app does and you can tell it’s meant to care more about the user experience, because you don’t have to pay money to meet people. For the developers or whoever sees this, my only criticism is this: I am getting too many notifications about hatches expiring, or that I have eggs to hatch when I don’t in fact have either, it would be nice to see that tweaked a bit. Other than that my other complaints are to many of the users I get, which is a lack of effort I feel like.
