## What is Haven 〇?

Haven is a private social network for the people who actually matter. No ads. No tracking. No algorithm deciding what you see. No company server holding your memories.

Everything you share is end-to-end encrypted with hybrid post-quantum cryptography and travels directly between your devices — over the internet, or over Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi when you're together offline. Even we can't read it.

• Private circles — share with family and close friends in separate, invite‑only circles
• Posts, photos, videos & stories — with a modern camera, easy captions, and a song
• Direct & group messages — with sender names, timestamps, and delivery checks, plus scheduled and screenshot‑protected secret messages
• Group voice & video calls — 1:1 and group, with screen sharing, peer‑to‑peer, no call server in the middle
• All your devices in sync — start on iPhone, pick up on iPad or Mac; your posts and messages follow you
• Disappearing posts — you decide how long things stick around
• Nearby sharing — works with no internet at all, phone to phone
• Bring your own storage — keep memories alive on your own S3 bucket or a relay you run
• No account, no phone number, no email — your identity lives only on your device

Haven is a stronghold for the people you love. It's built so that no one — not advertisers, not data brokers, not even the people who made it — can get between you and your circle.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8.1 — 2026-08-31

1.8.1 — Smoother feed, cooler phone.

• Scrolling the feed is smooth again, and Haven no longer heats up while you browse photos and videos already on your device — even large libraries you brought in from Instagram.
• You control your offline invite links now: choose how long a link stays valid — 7 days, 30, 90, a year, or never — and regenerate one any time to retire the old link.
• Plus a networking fix so the app works less hard when your connection changes.

### 1.8.0 — 2026-08-29

1.8.0 — Add friends without being online together.

• Invites now work offline: accept a friend's invite while their Haven is closed — they get the request the next time they open the app, can approve it even after you've gone offline again, and the friendship completes on its own. No more coordinating "are you online right now?"
• Nothing new to set up: invite links quietly carry everything needed, and relays store only sealed envelopes they cannot read.
• Posts, reactions, and comments now keep trying until they are delivered. Content no longer waits for an app restart after a rough network patch — switching Wi-Fi to cellular, toggling a VPN, or waking from sleep now recovers on its own, immediately.
• Under the hood: connections that silently died are now detected and replaced within seconds, and everything you author retries with backoff until it reaches a relay.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-08-26

1.7.0 — Calls, rebuilt to be trustworthy.

• Answering now always takes effect: a call can no longer connect "underneath" your ring screen — accept works the moment you tap it, on every platform.
• Callers only see "Connected" when the other side has actually answered — never before, and never stuck on "Calling…" while audio is already flowing.
• Unanswered calls end cleanly after a minute on both ends — no more phantom calls that ring forever.
• The desktop call screen was rebuilt: full-screen stage, picture-in-picture camera, live speaker highlighting, device pickers — and minimizing docks the call into a tab so you can keep browsing.
• Faces everywhere: contacts' chosen emoji and photos now appear in calls and threads on desktop.
• Includes the 1.6.1 stability wave: the multi-device circle key fork is fixed for good, an iPhone launch crash is gone, roster changes finish in seconds, and photo previews cross satellite links.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-19

1.5.0 — Bring your Instagram archive with you.

• Import from Instagram, in Settings. Ask Instagram for your export, then hand Haven the .zip when it arrives days later. Nothing publishes until you have confirmed a preview of exactly what was found — how many posts, the dates they span, the total size, and anything the archive references but is missing.
• Your history arrives as history. Posts and reels keep their original dates and go up silently, so nobody's feed is flooded with years of your past. A carousel stays one post rather than becoming twenty. Stories are off by default, and turned on they are kept on your own profile instead of published to your circle.
• Imported photos and videos go through Haven's usual optimizer, with a poster still cut for every clip, so they behave like media you posted by hand. The import runs in the background, survives the app being killed, and resumes where it left off.
• Song suggestions. Open the song picker with nothing typed and the top tab suggests tracks drawn from what the photo shows and what the caption says — in the composer, the post editor, DMs and stories. A reel that shipped with its soundtrack gets the real song named on it.
• Feed videos keep their soft blurred edge wash for the whole loop, matching photo posts.
• Replying to a story attaches a story reference in the DM: tall portrait crop, tap opens the real story with progress and music. Expired ones become "Story no longer available".

### 1.4.2 — 2026-08-12

1.4.2 — Battery: stop multi-hour Background drain.

• Fixed a case where Haven could stay warm for hours in the Background with no messages or circle activity. A cold wake from push or background refresh no longer runs the full foreground sync/Multipeer path.
• Pocketed phones park timers and nearby discovery immediately so iOS can suspend the app after a quick empty poll.
• Continues the 1.4.1 battery work (slim push wakes, no media-backup re-arm loop while pocketed).
