Open Hay, choose Audio or Video, and say what’s on your mind. Hay keeps the recording, writes it down, and organizes the moment with a title, mood, useful tags and a short summary. No blank page. No account to create.

Keep it yours

Your recordings are never sent to AI. On supported iPhones, Hay handles transcription, mood, tags and summaries on-device. If on-device enrichment is unavailable, you can choose a private transcript-only service. Audio, video, photos and location are never sent to it.

Optional iCloud Backup can keep an encrypted copy of your journal in your private iCloud account. You can turn it off at any time.

Free and Unlimited

The free version includes one journal entry each day, transcription, search, Face ID and export of your 30 most recent entries. Hay Unlimited adds unlimited entries, full statistics, photo attachments, custom tags and full-library export. Monthly and annual plans are available in the app.

Starting Hay should feel as calm as using it. In 1.0.2, setup stays responsive while Hay checks for an existing iCloud journal in the background. We also made every choice easier to tap and each step easier to follow.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-13

Hay Unlimited is now easier to understand—annual and monthly plans are shown clearly, along with trial and renewal details. Free users can finish their first journal without seeing the paywall. If you try to record a second entry on the same day, Hay explains the daily limit before recording starts. If you bought lifetime access in an earlier version, Hay will continue to recognize and restore it. We have also made purchases easier to restore and improved the paywall for VoiceOver.
