Finding jobs has never been this easy and aesthetically pleasing. ### 5/5 — Finally a job app that cuts the faff *2024-02-03, version 2.254.0* I don't know how they managed it, but there just aren't spammy job ads in this app. When you filter by technology, salary, location etc, the job listings that come up actually match your criteria. You can block companies you don't like, and hide your profile from your current employer. You can remove a job you don't want to apply for, and it stays removed. Most of the job search in the tech industry is filled with recruiters and complicated job descriptions. Haystack is easy to use and is allowing me to be selective about potential for my career. The team are attentive, which makes the process so much smoother. ### 5/5 — Very fancy UI & very informative job listings *2023-11-20, version 2.145.16* The app UI is very intuitive and easy to use. I like how they present information about all the companies, what stack they’re using and how they match your skillset. Job listings not only have role requirements but what the role involves and sometimes it even already has a plan for your first couple months so you have a better idea of what you’re getting yourself into. I haven’t heard back from any companies yet but I only applied for a couple jobs a few days ago. What I’d suggest improving is the skills selector from a single value dropdown to a multi value dropdown or some other element that lets you select multiple skills at the same time as it can be quite time consuming if you want to select more skills. There seems to be an issue with the Apple ID integration, they are aware of it so hopefully it will be fixed soon 💪. So remember to create your account with your email as that works 100%. Overall I think this app has a good potential! ### 5/5 — A tool to have *2023-11-20, version 2.145.16* I have a really good time using Haystack, not necessarily to find a new job but understand a bit better how different industries work and what is it that big or small businesses looking for, their requirements on knowledge and technologies and their cultures. It give people that they start their careers a better inside view and understanding of required skills, and allows them to focus on areas that would be beneficial for both themselves and employers across industries. Respective of your skills and levels , you get to get a job and interview soon ### 3/5 — Initially proactive but not really working for me *2021-04-29* Signed up, got a call from their team to discuss my experience and what I was looking for which was a nice touch. It took a while to get my profile set up as the process isn’t entirely streamlined (keyboard overlaying fields so you can’t see what you’re entering), but after a bit of work I was happily looking through jobs. A few issues that have led me to stop using the app: - The range of jobs just isn’t there. - Matching algorithm seems a bit off. 80%+ matches have the wrong tech and not sure why 0% matches are even shown? Can’t seem to filter on this or date? - Some bugs resulting in the app hanging (filtering roles) and the last couple of days I’ve logged in and seen no jobs at all. - The interface itself doesn’t feel incredibly intuitive or suitable for touch use. It’s a good concept, just not quite there! Would consider returning to it in future. **Developer response:** Thank you for your detailed feedback. You can tell they put some decent thought into the UX and flow of the design. 👌 Four stars because I'm loving the app but missing one star as it tends to close sometimes when I click different things, perhaps some memory issue or something with the iOS version? It’s good to know that you’re spending time and interacting with actual people rather than wasting time on lengthy application processes, often receiving automated rejections as an outcome. There are some glitches with the UI (like the list of skills doesn’t always load) and the experience can be improved (for example, selecting a skill shouldn’t close the list with skills), but overall it’s a good experience! The addition of an in-app chat is a good addition, however, I don’t necessarily agree that the Haystack team requires all the conversations with the employers to happen within the app. This, obviously, raises privacy concerns, as it means that the agents can access the conversations. I understand that it’s important to track the success rate, however, there are other routes to do this. Finally, the list of partnering companies seems to be quite limited, at least for the short time I’ve been on the platform. ### 5/5 — Excellent App! *2024-07-16, version 2.368.17* Haystack is a fantastic job-finding app tailored specifically for web developers. My best part is the job filtering. The ones I’ve personally used are the filtering by company, by the framework or tool and the area of focus.
