### 3/5 — It might be fine…

I like the idea of this app and the fact that it uses the built-in screen sharing, but three minutes a day is not at all enough time to even orient yourself to the app the first time you open it.

I saw that warning, decided I would test copy and paste real quick, and…it didn’t work the first time. Then the timer expired and now I have to wait until tomorrow to try again.

I was more than happy to pay $15 for an app that worked, but less so to pay $15 to find out if it does.
Even 10 or 15 minutes a day for the first week would be plenty, but three minutes is just not enough.

### 4/5 — Great solution for remote control of a laptop

Works very well. My only gripe is the key (password) button that spits out your password in plain text into whatever field has focus. Would be nice to have an option to remove that button. I’d rather type my password rather than have it pumped out, possibly into a website or Slack conversation, by accident by one misplaced tap. Developer, please remove the password (key) button from the UI or provide an option to hide it!

**Developer response:** Thank you, ekrub. You asked for the right thing, and it is in 1.2.1.

The key (password) button is gone from the control bar unless you ask for it. It is off by default, and you turn it on for one Mac at a time with a switch in that Mac's settings, which you reach from the info button (ⓘ) at the end of its row in the list. On a fresh install, and on every Mac you never opt in to, there is simply no button there to mistap.

We also added a guard for the exact accident you described, because we ran into it ourselves while testing. When the picture on your screen has fallen behind the Mac, Headroom now says so in a banner, and the key button waits eight seconds instead of two and a half before it can be tapped again. The bad version of this is sending the password once, seeing nothing change because the picture is stale, and sending it again into whatever has focus by then.

1.2.1 also fixes what made the picture fall behind. When the whole remote screen kept changing, our request for the next frame reached the Mac while it was still writing the previous one, and was dropped — so nothing arrived until a ten-second keep-alive woke it up. That is fixed, and frames keep coming now.

I would rather be straight with you about what is not fixed. On a login screen that animates its own background, typed characters still take a couple of seconds to appear. The cause is on the Mac's side of the screen sharing protocol and we have not found a way around it yet. That is exactly why the banner and the longer wait exist: the accident you imagined is still possible, so the app warns you rather than pretending.

The Mac version has the same changes.

Thank you for writing it up so clearly. This change happened because you did.

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

Exactly what I needed to view & control my MacBook when stepping away from it during a call. Simple and intuitive interface!

I had one gripe: the key button that, if tapped accidentally, could post your free text password into Slack or a Google search. But, thanks to a developer who listens and acts quickly, the key is now easy to hide from the UI.

I’d give 6 stars if I could!

**Developer response:** Thank you, ekrub — for the fifth star, and for the gripe that earned it. The key button change happened because you wrote it up so clearly.

Headroom 1.2.2 is now out on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Two fixes you may notice:
• With an external keyboard, a modifier such as ⌘ could stay held on the remote Mac after you let go, so a plain "o" arrived as ⌘O. That no longer happens.
• On the Mac, the Headroom window now reopens at the size and place you left it.

Headroom Pro also works with Family Sharing, so everyone in your family group gets it too.

If anything else gets in your way during those calls, tell us here — we read every review.
